Many appreciate its strong low-light performance and ergonomic design, although some find it heavy and note the large file sizes. The lack of Wi-Fi capability is also a recurring point of feedback. Overall, the camera receives praise for its impressive image quality and features.

Great ISO Range. Rightly placed analog buttons and dials Superior RAW Detail (Due to no AA filter) nice to have split screen option for checking details of points far away in frame If you are buying this as your first full frame camera then spend some time to understand the settings. You can use you dx lenses too if you don't mind the vignetting or occasional crop.

I bought this camera because my D700 is getting to a high shutter count and I also wanted some more resolution for wide angle landscapes. I also wanted the same or less processing time from RAW to finished frames on my workflow software. Whether the body I got was defective or not, I do not know, but, the light meter was off underexposing shots when processing RAW frames. My D700 with correct (or auto) exposed frames barely adjusted the exposure or black level. The D810 (under similar settings) was often under between 1/4 and 1 1/2 stops and was way washed out on the black level. It looked like every frame was taken on a foggy day no matter what the subject or lighting conditions. The white balance often left a lot to be desired as well. I tried mimicing the settings from my D700 and a friend's D800e , all to no benefit. The only good thing about is was a no hassel return with BestBuy ... So .. BestBuy's grade is fine ... The camera's grade is a fail. I will stick to my D700 and see if I can find another one somewhere.

I actually returned this to get the camera lens combo, but if you can afford this camera, just go for it
