Customers are saying

Customers frequently mention the exceptional camera quality, ease of use, and high resolution of the D850 DSLR. Many also praise its impressive low-light performance and long battery life, while noting its extensive features. However, some find the camera's weight and size to be substantial, and the price point relatively high. A learning curve is also mentioned by a few users.

I decided to grab a spare d850, given the price has fallen. While it isn't being made anymore (afaik), it is still an incredible camera. It has great autofocus, incredible low-light sensitivity, and excellent dynamic range. Someday, I'll jump to mirrorless, but for the price point, this pro-level camera cannot be beat.

Having used several Nikon SLRE/DLSR over the years the D850 has been on my radar since it was released. The sensor, design, handling are all on a level above the enthusiast/prosumer/etc. Nikon DLSRs and was well worth the wait ; when the price recently came down to @2200 I jumped and will gladly buy again for a backup with the price hits the $1800 neighborhood. There's nothing to be said here about the technical side of the camera others haven't said better and in more detail, likewise handling, usability, and, of course output. Don't let those who say DSLRs are obsolete and so on sway you, you definitely owe it to yourself to try out a D850 especially if you're looking the Z8.

I have been using Nikon cameras for more than 20 years. This is the best camera I have ever used. I was very happy with the DX cameras earlier and then D750; but this camera has changed everything. It gives the total freedom to experiment with all the controls, and gives outstanding results. I experimented with both extremes of ISO and pleased to see the results. Great camera!

Nikon has hit a home run with this camera. With an impressive 45.7 megapixels of extraordinary resolution, outstanding dynamic range and virtually no risk of moire. 4K Ultra HD cinematic video recording in stunning full frame glory, Record 16:9 4K UHD (3840x2160) | 4K and 8K Time-Lapse | Tilting touchscreen, Touch AF, Touch Shutter control, Focus Shift shooting mode, outstanding battery performance and Built-in WiFi and Bluetooth Wireless Connectivity. The controls are mostly in Nikon usual places, so if you have been using a Nikon before, you will feel at ease using this camera. I am very pleased with it so far.

I had a Nikon D5100 for 7 years. This was a huge upgrade for me, I saved up for a couple of years to get the D810 then the D850 came out so I had to save longer... I am extremely happy with it. It is amazing. I am now saving for a telephoto lens.. I had to upgrade my computer to handle the files as well as upgrade lightroom to support the files. My computer was 8 years old though. Best Buy was able to get me the camera fast. Purchased in Oregon so no sales tax !!! Super cool touch screen on back display works great. Battery is pretty good if you are not doing video. Can't afford the grip but maybe someday.

I was debating between going mirrorless or staying with Dslrs. I upgraded from a d3500 and decided after 2 mths of reviews to get this D850. Im still learning the button placement for what you choose to set them as. But the shutter button is so much quicker than what Im used to! I do wildlife photography and do print a lot of prints, so having the extra MP is great. There isnt much weight difference for me with the 200-500 attached, although many stated its heavier. I do mostly handheld and have had no issues thus far, even with BIF. I am happy with my purchase so far, seeing its only been since Xmas. I got it on sale for $350 less than regular price. It does need a XQD (CF express) card, which is pricey. But... this camera can work with just the SD card alone.

I have multiple DSLRs and even a Z7 mirrorless camera. Before getting this D850 I always preferred using my D800. There is something with the 8xx class that other cameras can’t match. This D850 essentially can do what I needed two cameras for (D500/D800). It autofocus’ fast and image quality is excellent. I got mine on sale and at that price it’s totally worth it. Only thing I wish it had was the D780 autofocus for video.

My work is primarily High School sports. Anyone who has shot these events knows how bad the typical High School sports field is for lighting. Aside from the generally low light level there are typically multiple areas with very little light. The D850 does an absolutely wonderful job in these situations. I have gotten some fantastic shots even when hand held with a 200mm lens.
