Works as advertised on my iPad, slight confusion upon initial set up but if you do it once then the next time is easy. I included the Apple App picture for all to see. This is an extra perk, as the camera already comes with a cable to hook up to you desktop or laptop, but if you want to transfer to you mobile device this thing will work for you!

Pros: This is a must have addition for your nikon Cam DSLR goes well if you have the Nikon App to upload and download and also take pictures directly from your tablet. The small protective case and string attach to camara strap so cool so you wont loose it.
cons: if you dont set the wifi to always stay on it will log you off and you must set it up in the app and dont forget to set up a network password for it. But it does drain your camera battery life by 30% atleast. Must have extra battery handy.

Brilliant little add on for your compact camera.
I bought this to enable me to drop my photos directly onto my iPhone without the need to carry my laptop as well.
With an upcoming trip to Asia in mind, and wishing to only take carry-on luggage, this is an ideal gadget.
I have been testing it out around Washington DC, and absolutely LOVE it.
As a professional photographer, I can see it's benefits for personal snaps, but understand that this would not be suitable for professional photoshoots.

An Amazing Little Device

I don't normally review products that I purchase. But this product deserves one.
Let's start with the size. It's tiny. Really tiny. Which is why I lost my first one and bought another. Because it's easy to lose track of, I recommend keeping it in the carrying case that attaches to the shoulder strap.
The device itself is simple. Plug it in, set the camera to have WiFi on, and that's it. The app is a little different.
There have been nasty reviews about the app, most of which I don't find proof of. You can get the app for free in the app store. In order to connect to the camera, you have to make sure your mobile device recognizes the WiFi, which is in a form similar to Nikon_WU_12345678. Connect to it, open the app, and you're all set. The remote connection to take pictures may be a little laggy sometimes, but it's never for long. Downloading pictures, which is what I use the device for primarily, is very quick and easy.
Thanks, Nikon, for making it so much easier to upload car pics onto Instagram!

Great for transferring photos to Smart Phone

There are a few connection issues, but overall this makes transferring photos from camera to your smart phone very easy. If you want to share a few photos with someone you don't have to connect to your computer and/or laptop to e-mail to someone.
Wish it would have been a little cheaper as this isn't really a "required" item for transferring photos. For moving large numbers of photos, I would transfer using the memory card or USB cable.

I have been very disappointed with this product. First, my background. I consider myself an expert on transmitting on the Nikon. I've been doing it since 2002 even before Nikon provided a solution. I was using a battery powered UHF transmitter and receiver using the video out on the DSLR's. I then went with the Nikon's first wireless camera D2H, then WT3A on D200 and then WT4A on D300. I thought this sounded like a great option. I bought it to use on my D7100.
When conditions are PERFECT, then this works great!! But I do a lot of event shooting. If you find yourself at the ballgame, or church where there are lots of people with Mobile phones, then you can forget ever getting this to work. With lots of signals from other cell phones, it's impossible to get this working even with the iPhone or iPad up close to the DSLR. Once everyone starts leaving it will start working reliably again. Even then it's not reliable enough to depend on it. It disconnects so often, I've only been able to get about 12 photos transferred before it disconnects and I have to start all over again. I will say, I did use it a lot on my recent trip to Germany. I uploaded 400+ photos to it. But remember to only load less than 20 at a time and ensure you are away from lots of cell phone signals. And realize that you can't have your phone more than a few feet away from the camera.
In Summary, for $50, it's probably worth it to play with it as long as you realize the hassle this will be. On the other hand, spend the $900 and get the WT5A transmitter if you want reliability and for it to work right each and every time. I am rethinking using this with my clients. I currently give them my iPad and use the WT4A to transmit ALL of my photos as I take them. This works very well. This allows them to review the photos and Tweet immediately and post photos as the even takes place. I don't see this working with this cheap product. First my WT4A transmits as I photograph with no interaction on my part. The WU1A requires me to change how I work. With it on, I can't preview photos on the camera. The phone, must manually select the photos to download. It definitely has slowed me down using this product.
I think it's a good idea, and for $50, definitely worth getting and trying it out. But do not expect this to work in a professional situation unless in a controlled environment.

I purchased my camera because of this feature! This Wireless Mobile Adapter is a MUST HAVE! If it will adapt to your camera, it is well worth the purchase! All you do is connect it and press the button! On your smart phone, you purchase the free app, and connect to the camera under WiFi settings. You do not need to be connected to WiFi to use this feature, the camera connects to the phone via WiFi! I can take photos with my Nikon D3300 and send them to friends, family, and/ or post them on social media within minutes of taking them! I absolutely recommend this product to everyone! It even comes with a nifty little carrying case that attaches to your camera strap, as well as a little string that connects it to the camera strap so as to never drop it!

I received this adapter as a bonus with the purchase of my camera and am very happy with it. It is much smaller than I expected and very easy to use. I don't love that it sticks out of the side of the camera but it's not overly cumbersome either. I really like having the adapter so that I can send pictures quickly and easily to my phone instead of having to load them on my computer and then transfer to my phone.

This was such a cool item to get with your camera, especially if it isn't wifi capable. The representative at best buy was super awesome about hooking us up with this. It is super easy to use and you can access all the pictures through your phone. It's convenient especially when you don't want to take out your laptop or hook it up to your desktop. Having them on your phone is really nice. Would recommend this to anyone needing a wifi adapter.

My D7100 does not have the built-in WiFi so this item seemed the perfect solution.
I purchased it and used it first to shoot the recent eclipse while in the U.S.and it performed perfectly for well over 100 shots. I also operated the camera from I'm excess of 60 feet away reliably.
I would rate this five stars for the equipment, four stars for the price, and three stars for Nikon's app (~not~ Best Buy's issue).
I used an aftermarket app that worked far better.
So far I am very pleased with the way the item works, its packaging and its convenience.

I like the concept of adding wifi capabilities to your camera but this wifi unit is subpar when it comes to actually using it. When it works it works perfectly but often times I have a hard time establishing a connection and transferring photos to my iOS device. It may be due to my photos being in Raw format and they are too late to transfer, which I am pretty sure it is but I notice that if you are in a crowded area that has a lot of wireless signals around, you ant even get the live preview to work on your phone. It works when it wants to work essentially but when it does it is cool. It needs to be refined and improved in my opinion.

Essential product for cameras with no inbuilt ability to share through wifi, software could be better, has some bugs. Like frequently drops connection with the phone and doesn't shut down once used, needs manual forced stop.

Even though I think the camera should have built in wifi, this little gadget makes it nice and easy to share my photos to social media on the fly, instead of having to wait until I get home to upload and share that way. Definitely worth the extra $$ to get this adapter. Easy to setup as well

Nikon - WU-1A Wireless Mobile Adapter - Black
I wasn't sure what to expect from this adapter. I was intrigued with the product description and it was part of the reason I purchased my camera bundle. Once I received the camera and started taking pictures I was hopeful the Nikon WU-1A would work as easily as stated. It did! I just downloaded the app to my iPhone 6 Plus and followed the instructions. I plugged it into my camera, changed the wifi in my phone settings to the Nikon WU-1A and then opened the app to start transferring photos to my phone. It worked great! The only real problem I've had with the adapter is that it only allows one phone, at a time, to connect to it and transfer photos. At least that's what my experience has been. It would be nice to have multiple phones connected so other family members could transfer photos at the same time as opposed to one at a time. Other than that this was an unexpected surprise from my purchase. I really liked this product!

Using this WIFI Dongle, we can take pictures using a smart phone, View the pictures just taken by the DSLR camera. One issue I had with the NIKON WMU APP in my android phone is that when I open the app and close it when i'm done, it still shows to be opened in my notification bar. I have to restart my phone to get rid of it showing in my notification bar!!. apart from the andoid app issue, everything else is great. The product itself is very small and doesn't come in your way while taking pictures.

This adapter does what it says it does: It connects your phone with your camera, so from your phone you can "sync" the pictures in your camera and have them available as if they were taken with the phone. The only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 is because the setup in an iPhone was not too clear. The key was pushing a little tiny button in the adapter in order to initiate the initial synchronization. It comes with a small carrier that you can attach to the camera strip that is pretty useful.
