Originally I was going to get the Sony ZV-1 because everyone was buying one and I thought that was going to be my vlog camera. But after watching several YouTube videos on the Nikon Z 30 I was hooked by all the features and specs that will be so beneficial for me as a content creator. This camera is easy to use especially if this is your first "real" camera. There are plenty of tutorials on Nikon USA's website. I can't wait to do an in-dpeth tutorial on my YouTube channel and how I use it. Great job NIkon!

I bought this so I could use it that day. It came with a charging cable that needed to be plugged into a computer. I was out of town and did not have access to a computer and it would not charge with USB. Best buy did not sell a separate charger. When I got home I plugged into two different computers and still would not charge. I later bought a separate charger and finally go it to charge. Very disappointed.

This review is for the Nikon Z 30 4k mirrorless camera with nikkor z dx 16-50mm f3.5 - 6.5 VR lens. First impression of the camera was of it’s compact size and that it would be great for traveling, being light weight and compact. But don’t let the size fool you. This little guy has some powerful features. Like being able to shoot 11 frames per second with great clarity and record video in 4k @ frame rates of 30p,25p or 24p. The 3” tilting lcd monitor is easy to see and use. Great for shooting selfie videos/podcasts. It can swing out and face the front of the camera so you can make sure you are were you wish to be in the shot/video. It also has autofocus to help keep everything as clear as can be. It uses eye detection and will autofocus on you as you move around in the frame. I found this feature to work quite well. In a nut shell I found this camera to take great photos with outstanding clarity and details. And even better videos. I feel this camera was made with creators in mind and features and quality show that. I do recommend picking up an extra battery. But other than that I am very please with this unit so far.

This camera is surprisingly punching above it's weight. I am upgrading from the forgotten Nikon 1 series and D7100 and the Z30 is taking the best of those cameras into this body. I don't really miss the viewfinder but I do occasionally try to bring the camera up to my eye and looking like a fool.

The deliverer dropped my package at the front desk of the apartment even though there is a clear sign saying that all packages should go to the receiving room. When I came back my package was gone. The Best Buy refused to refund or replace and told me to contact the police station on my own, which is ridiculous, because I make contracts only with BB, and it is their duty to bargain with the dilivery department and help me get my order

This is by far the most wonderful camera for content creators and Youtubers that I have seen and is within a reasonable budget level for amateurs like myself. It is simple to operate in the Auto Mode and affords you manual controls for the real artists. The sensor is terrific and provides 4K HD capability. You can record slow motion and you can adjust frames per second from 11 to 120. Nikon lists all the specs for those interested in more of those details I used a 32 GB SD card, however I would recommend a 128 GB with in the area of 280 mb/s Read and a 250 mb/s Write. This camera deserves the latest SD technology to ensure it performs to specifications. I also used an onboard stereo microphone and a remote plus a nice tripod. You will want to get these optional accessories to utilize the full and amazing power of this camera. Nikon does include these in a beautiful Creator’s Accessories kit for the Z30 – wonderful. This is not at all like a cell phone camera. If you are into more professional videos, this is a very light and small camera which will do everything most artists would need. I found its small size helpful for portability including on an airplane. Nice to keep it with me and not have to check a larger camera. The 3 inch touchscreen is very handy and large enough to be useful but small enough not to get in the way of handling the camera at all angles. There are so many great features that the included User Manual Sheet may not be enough for a lot of serious photographers. However the good news is Nikon provides a superb Reference Guide that you can download or view online. I put a desktop shortcut on my computer so I can easily get to the Reference Guide. The document is 616 pages but no worries; there is a very complete table of contents and even an index at the end. Take advantage of your computer to find any topic and help you need in a few seconds – tip of the cap to Nikon engineers and publications department for this valuable document. Also another tip of the cap for the engineers who designed this technology rich camera. With Time Lapse, Auto Focus, Live Webcam and Self-portrait mode to name some of the capabilities you have a veritable movie set in your hands. In case you are like me stepping up from a cell phone camera; don’t forget that with these types of cameras you push the shutter-release button half-way to focus and then fully to take the photograph. I not only am taking better videos and photos, I’m having a lot of fun learning the camera and using the remote and stereo mic on the tripod. This camera really makes it easy to accomplish your project. If all this isn’t enough to enjoy, you really should download the Snapbridge app. Nikon has a school online that you can link to for learning how to pair the app and also describes the many features. The pairing was simple and once the app is installed it will take you through the Bluetooth pairing. You can also establish a WiFi connection which you will need to show pictures from the camera in the app. It is not complicated. In general, Snapbridge gives you a way to show your camera images on your cell phone or tablet. This app can provide a remote shutter button. The app lets you control many camera settings from your cell phone. Snapbridge can also tell you if firmware updates are available since it does know your camera model. Nikon hit the target with this small but capable device which has superior technology in a small Mirrorless camera. A Nikkor z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 Vibration Reduction lens (minimize camera shake) is included. My old Nikkor lenses do not fit this camera but there is an adaptor available. This camera is fun to use but is not a toy. I highly recommend this fabulous camera.

In the box you get the Nikon Z30, rechargeable battery, lens caps, USB cable, and strap. The camera itself is fairly compact, light, and has a great feel in the hand. It feels solidly built, but is easy to handle as well. The camera does not have a view finder, but the flippable screen makes up for this for me. It has a very nice 3” LCD touch screen with great resolution so everything is easy to see and read. It does not have a built in flash, but an external flash can be used and will more than likely be brighter than any built in one. And with its amazing low light performance you will find yourself needing one less. More on that later. As far as the battery goes its charged via a USB cable plugged directly into the camera. So the charge time will depend heavily on the device it is being charged from. Directly into a PC will take quite awhile so for me I used a high amperage cell charger. An external portable charger would be ideal, or just pack along a couple extra batteries. The battery itself is a 7.6v 1120mah lithium ion. It took a few hours for the initial charge, lasted a couple hours, then required a much longer charge when empty. So I am thinking it came with about 65-75% in the box. For recording video I went with a high speed 512gb SD card I already had. And even that size can fill up fast if you are capturing lots of high resolution footage. Someday when prices go down Ill look into the 2tb options. But for now a 512 and a couple 256's I have work great. The 4k video on this is amazing. I use to be one of those older guys that said you cant tell the difference between 1080p and 4k and now I know I was wrong. 4K is just so much crisper. And the video quality is so smooth as well. With the ability to shoot 4k/30 so well I keep that my default video setting for most videos. If its something that doesnt need to be that high resolution I use 1080 at 60 or 120. Of course 4k eats up your SD card space like lunch. Taking pictures is a delight as well. The pictures come out so crisp and clear. And the low light performance really surprised me. Even at night it captured pictures that were worth keeping. I dont know how many times Ive had to just delete pics because they were just too blurry with low light. And the auto focus tracking of eyes made it a lot easier to get pics of people that arent standing still. And this also works with pets. I have 2 new cats that I am constantly trying to get good “moments” and with the auto focus kicking in so fast I am able to get these. And the blurred background feature works well and greatly enhances pictures. Another great feature is being able to edit pics on the camera. What a time saver. Being able to quickly edit pics then either transferring them via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi is so much easier than the old time consuming process. In summary this is one awesome camera. If you love taking high quality pictures and videos, vlogging, and creating awesome content this is a great choice. It has all the features and settings I need, and more that I look forward to experimenting with. Beautiful 4k video and pics, superb low light performance, quick edit, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and solid battery life all come together in one package. Highly recommended.

In case you’re interested in becoming a content creator, or maybe you already are but want to move on from what your phone can do, the Nikon - Z 30 4K Mirrorless Camera would be a great fit for you. But know that it’s always able and willing to use for those still shots — it is a Nikon, after all. With an available Creator’s Accessory kit, you’d have a great little remote control which you can integrate into the front leg of the tripod/hand-held mount. This kit also comes with a mic and fluffy wind cover. You’d be set to make millions (dollars, subscribers…who cares?) As a video creator, it does so much for you. Like the auto focus which tracks the subject’s eyes. They’ll think you’re a pro, I tell ya’! Be aware that for still photography, however, you don’t have a traditional viewfinder. Instead, you’ll be using a wonderfully articulating 3” LCD screen. I like it. In fact, the main reason I got this camera is to use for travel photography. It displays a wonderful depth of field when shooting close-ups. You also have the ability to crank it up to an 11 frames-per-second burst. That’s pretty cool for such a compact camera. One other potential downfall for still shooting — there is no flash. You would have to purchase an external hot shoe flash. With the low-light ability of the Z 30, I’m not sure if I’m ever going to worry about that. The Nikon Z 30 feels good and solid in the hand, kind of like a compact DSLR. The kit lens (16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR) is sufficient for now. If I so choose, there are other Z-mount lenses out there. Or, if you’re already a Nikon enthusiast and have a few F-mount lenses, there is an adapter which can be purchased. I think this camera’s a winner. It’s definitely going to be fun really absorbing all that it has to offer.
