I bought this to replace my decade old Nikon d3100. Honestly I was skeptical, how and why is this mirrorless camera so cheap?! Well it has surpassed my expectations. 2 notes. 1. It’s not the best for moving objects. 2. It struggles a little in low light, and doesn’t have a built in flash. I did buy an Amazon cheap flash that has made a world of difference. A few pictures I took from a recent florida trip.

Let me start with the fact that I was heavily bias towards anything other than Canon. I had owned a 60d for 7 years and wanted to upgrade to the RP. However, there was a ton of mixed reviews and I wanted to love it but when I got my hands on it I just didn't care for the sizing. The z5 is still a small camera, but just fits on my hand without having to justify a battery grip and my pinky not falling off the side and being under the camera. The photos, in the small amount of time I've had it have come out well. I'm still learning all the stuff with this camera but it seems to be pretty easy. My only gripe with this, is the bundle. The lens is ok.. but not great. 24-50 is pretty useless especially with 50 being at f/6.3.. I would have paid an extra few to have a better kit lens. Luckily these are going for a good amount of change elsewhere so I will sell off this one and upgrade to a better glass. This is really where the RP almost sold me because the kit lenses came at a good price. Still all in all, its a great camera. However, I really should have just sprung for the z6 considering the lens it comes with and its tad bit of upgrades.

I adore this thing. I went from a canon rebel to this to work toward building my professional portfolio and it did not disappoint. I read many many comparisons on the z6 and this model and I chose this because they were so similar but the price on this one is much lower. I know this is not considered a professional camera but it can definitely hang with the best of them!

I made this purchase after 3 months of thought. I have been using a Canon EOS 70D and I wanted to step up my game with a full frame camera. This camera has been a disappointment with focus inconsistency, color balance, and overall quality of photos. I am certain a lens change will help, but I expected better with the standard lens. I do medium macro work (antique maps and small scale cars) and this set-up is not working for me. I have already recorded over 2500 shutter trips and have had little luck improving the quality. The camera also locks up occasionally and needs the power cycled to correct.

My very first full frame mirrorless camera and I’m absolutely in love with it! I’ve had the D3500 for 2 years and I was so stoked when I finally saved up to get this bad boy. It really takes my portrait photo shoots on to the next level. I use it with a Nikkor 85mm z lens and it’s fantastic!
This is a class act that has everything and more .

I've shot a number of Nikon bodies over the years and the Z5 is everything you'd expect from Nikon. The 24-50 is the lens that Nikon promised. It's small, light and sharp. It has it's limitations, but for an everyday walk-around lens, it fits the bill. If you're going to do a lot of low-light shooting, I'd suggest the 24-70 instead. If I had the extra $500 I would have gone for the 24-200. Definitely grab an FTZ on discount. The biggest issue with the Z lineup is there are so few Z lenses. Eventually you will want to use an F-mount.
I've also got a Z50. In most cases when I compare the images from the two, I only notice minor differences between them, and only if I go looking for them. If you're doing a lot of shallow DOF shooting (portraits, etc.) you'll notice the expected differences being FX vs. DX.
I have one issue with the Z5. At present it does not play nice with most 3rd party lenses when shooting RAW. It will take the pictures just fine, the JPEGs look great. But, the most common image processing software that we almost all use (PS, LR, Capture One, etc.) says the RAW files are corrupt and won't open them. Nikon is aware of the issue, but points the blame at the software. The software points the blame back at Nikon. In the end the customer gets the short end. It will get fixed eventually by the software companies.

Excellent camera , love the feel of it how much more you get than a digital camera the ability to take videos and send them directly to your phone! The quality is amazing. The ease of using it exceeds expectations. The Best Buy employees were wonderful helping me make this big purchase

This camera is absolutely amazing. My older digital camera was outdated and with my current cellphone taking better pictures, it was time to replace. During my recent trip to Yellowstone, my cellphone and friends' phones took great photos, but not the best. This camera hands down is excellent. It's simple to use if you're a 'point and shoot' kind of person, yet contains all the bells and whistles for a professional photographer. Long lasting battery and has two memory card slots for ample storage. Highly recommended!
