Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the excellent camera quality, ease of use, and lightweight, compact design of the Z50 Mirrorless Camera. Many appreciate its affordability and comfortable grip. However, some users express concerns about the battery life and the use of a micro USB port instead of a USB-C port. The included lenses are also frequently praised.

I am new to the world of mirrorless cameras

I am new to the world of mirrorless cameras so I don't have anything to compare it to. I purchased it because I wanted a camera with a better optical sensor than my point-and shoot and with some different lens options. It needed to be small and lighter weight with a simple interface so I can hike with it and take pictures on the go. The Z50 fit my criteria and my budget. I am happy with the quality of photos I get with it. The 2 lenses that come with the package retract to a shorter length which makes them nice for fitting in my backpack. This camera is probably not sophisticated enough for a professional photographer but would be good for the amateur.

I've been wanting this for some time and finally talked myself into upgrading to this. Love the new lens connector, the stock lenses really help. Love the 50-250, really makes a difference in the field. Nothing bad to say about this. Another camera to learn so I'm looking forward to using in the wild.

This camera is amazing. I shoot with a Z6ii and my daughter (12 years old) had a D3200. She was just starting to really show an interest in photography so I wanted to get her a great camera but not a super expensive one. I went with the Z50 because of the autofocus system and the menu system is already familiar to me so I could help her. This camera has already impressed me though, it’s a pretty fantastic friggin camera

This is an excellent camera. The size and weight make this camera easy to carry and use. The new Z Mount coupled with the new "mirrorless feature" make this camera very functional in low light situations. Pictures in low light conditions look more natural without the flash although there is one built in for extreme low light shooting situations. This camera "is not full frame" but most amateur photographers will not notice the difference. So the question you will face is the the full frame Z5-Z7 worth two to four times the Z50 price? Only you can decide but I think full frame is for professional photographers. Here's a real life example. If you take a picture of the front of your house, you want the house and its surrounding shrubbery. You really don't want the sides of your neighbor's houses and clouds high in the sky so you are going to frame the shot with the focal plane ring anyway. So full frame is of little or no value in this shooting situation. However, if you are shooting "landscapes" each frame will have 1.5X more image area (proportioned around the edges) and this could be of more value. I gave this camera kit a four star rating (instead of five) because I don't like changing lens. I like a flexible zoom lens (18-200mm) but Nikon did not "Christmas Discount" a kit with this make up. Now that the Black Friday sales are off, I'd consider the Z50 Body with the mirrorless 24-200 lens. Unfortunately, the zoom lens adds more bulk and weight and tends to compromise the lightness and usability of the Z50. This rating really isn't a criticism of the camera but more of Nikons' marketing strategy. Don't buy something that you don't want just because it's on sale!! :) :)

    Great Value and Great Pictures

My previous camera was a Pentax that by today's standards was "klunky". It was heavy and bulky. Great photos, but not as many features as desired. For that reason, I wanted a lighter camera (mirrorless) that also shot video and had more advanced features. I did a lot of research and talked to several professionals. Watched videos of the camera being used by professionals. The Z50 met all my criteria. If you are a true professional, this is most likely not your camera--it only has one memory card slot. But for a serious amateur who wants an easy-to-use camera with lots of features, this should be considered. Now that I have used it for several months, I realize that it would have been better to get the body separately and get one more flexible lens to start with. I have the 50-250 lens on the camera most of the time. Keep in mind that because of the size of image sensor, this lens has a greater "magnification". Look up what DX means.

    Nikon Snob Opinion

I’m a Nikon snob, so take that will a grain of salt. This is small and easy to use. My main purpose was for video and it has great image quality. But I also was surprised at how much I love photo mode as well. This thing is incredible in low light as most Nikons are.

Love the camera quality of pics even with the kit lens. Shooting raw is great as you have many adjustments at your finger tips. Do buy better glass though. Use the money you save between z50 and z6 to buy f to z adapter then buy better glass.

Excellent beginner mirorless camera. The included zoom lens takes exceptionally sharp photos, even at 250mm. When switching lenses, be careful not to get any dust on the sensor. Best to keep the body facing downward when doing this.

The quality of the images and the screen is amazing. Although there are many buttons on the camera, it is relatively easy to use with the help of the manual. Didn't know the screen could flip down, but it is really good for streamers
