This is an excellent unit! I’m a 12 year Keurig K-cup brewer purchaser and user. In fact, I’ve purchased over 10 units in the past 12 years. This is my eleventh or twelfth, all Keurigs. That’s being said. This Ninja brewer is outstanding. There are plenty of brewing options and the functionality is amazing. I definitely recommend this product.

Best Buy did not have the product available for same-day pickup. The product was available for pick-up about 7 days later. When the product was handed to me, the box was slightly damaged and it was dusty. If it was to be gifted, I would have refused it. Upon opening, everything inside seemed fine and in order. Aside from the Start/Stop button being slightly crooked, the system works as expected.

PROS: - Great, fast coffee. - multiple brew strengths and sizes to choose - kcup adapter works better than other brands..even keurig - glass carafe and no splash lid - compact - easily removable water reservoir - delay start - clean mode (works really well, about 75 minutes to complete) KEEP YOUR UNIT CLEAN! Your coffee will thank you - intelligent warming plate (so far I haven’t had burnt coffee sitting) - reusable filter (sold separately) - no drip switch (pause brewing so you can pour that first cup before the carafe is full/brew complete) CONS: - doesn’t hold a TON of water, but good if you’re doing single cups at a time - the clock is a bit bright and can’t be dimmed - ounces not cups cause a little learning curve, better in the long run, but at first it was hard to know just how much coffee we actually wanted and needed (quickly fixed with a conversion cheat sheet) - No reusable Kcup pod yet. Seems ninja has a unique “tri-needle” puncture (see photo) that means a “universal reusable kcup” won’t work for this model. I assume it’s only a matter of time before ninja or someone else makes this though. (as of oct 2021 it is not available). (note, the tri-needle thing does make one good cup of coffee from a pod) - reusable filter for grounds is sold separately and is currently out of stock - no good place to put kcup adapter when it’s not being used Wow, what a coffee maker. We’ve come a long way from the mr coffee machine with one button, but this machine will make you a cup to a carafe of coffee in 3 brew styles with so many combinations, it’s likely to please everyone in your house. SET UP AND OVERALL THOUGHTS: We were due up for a new coffee maker and decided we wanted something capable of making smaller cups and travel mugs for our daily use but still wanted a big pot of coffee for company and parties. There are a lot of these styles out there, but the ninja ticked more boxes for us so we went with it. The box comes with just about everything you need, it doesn’t include the reusable filter basket, but it does give you a couple filters (Number four cone btw) to get you started in case you forgot or bought the wrong ones. It also has a handy scoop with it’s own place to store on the machine, the kcup adapter, a carafe and, of course, the coffee maker. I think I had it set up and ready in less than 30 minutes. The manual is actually well written and there’s also a quick start guide. The instructions suggest running a cleaning cycle with cleaner or water vinegar mix first so I did that. The clean cycle lasts about 75 minutes and does a very deep clean on your machine, so much better than my old one that ran a normal cycle. The Ninja also shows time remaining during cleaning. Once the cleaning was done, I didn’t smell plastic or anything anymore and was ready to test it out. I know some say it’s a little confusing to operate, but I didn’t find it that difficult. A very quick read over the instructions and the rest was pretty intuitive if you’re halfway decent with using menus and modern appliances. The trickiest part is knowing that some things don’t work without something else done first. For example, you can’t press start if the drip control is closed. Or you can’t select your brew size with the grounds cover open. If you understand this, you should be ok. So I decided to make one 10 ounce cup of coffee in a mug first. Once I had enough water in the reservoir (the cleanest water you can get is best), I flipped the mug holder down so there would be less splashing, placed my mug and selected 10 ounce classic and pressed start. I was impressed how quickly the coffee started brewing, yet was still a good flavor and not watered down. If you do the “rich” brew, it will take a little longer because it lets the water sit longer, making a bolder flavor. (this also changes the ounces you will get slightly.) I liked both settings but the rich was harder on my stomach so I have been sticking to classic and still happy with the flavor. The ice coffee also worked well making a very strong coffee that didn’t water down once the ice melted a little. Later we tried a carafe and the warmer plate didn’t burn the coffee before we were done with it, maybe a few hours later. I noticed when using the carafe that the lid has a long straw on it that goes down almost to the bottom. I’m not completely sure why it’s there, but I noticed it prevented the coffee from splashing around when it was landing in the carafe. Instead it would fill up smooth and eventually no splash at all once the coffee was higher than the bottom of the straw. This was simple but effective and, like I said, I’m not sure if there’s more reason to that, but I appreciated that little detail. We have a few traveler mugs we use for work and travel and they also fit under easily and didn’t splash when we filled them. The warming plate will only turn on in a carafe brew setting and can be turned on/off manually if you choose to. KCUPS: So I wanted to touch on the kcup option as well because I have read some horror stories about other manufacturers' similar machines being a nightmare with kcups. I have so far not had any issues with over flowing or pods exploding in this machine. That said, I have not tried any of the really cheap off brand kcups. But I am confident they would work as well if you use the machine correctly as instructed. READ the manual and you’ll be fine. What I did experience was a fast, hot, flavorful cup of coffee every time I used a pod. I am hoping Ninja makes a reusable pod soon that fits their special 3 needle design because I am not a big fan of throwing those things out every time. So for now we have mostly used the grounds style but I still need to use a paper filter because they are out of stock of the reusable filter unfortunately. If I can get a reusable filter basket and reusable kcup pods, then this would be a really eco friendly device as well. But for now, it’s still worth it because whatever magic those 3 needles are doing, it makes one good cup of coffee. Overall, we are really enjoying this machine so far after about a week of pretty heavy use. I would recommend it to my friends that are looking for single serve and large serving in one small coffee making device.

Excellent, but complicated, dual use coffee maker

The Ninja Dualbrew 12-cup coffeemaker is Ninja's latest entry into the 'dual use' coffee maker world. I'm a big fan of Ninja products and have found them to be very innovative while being excellent at what they do. The dualbrew coffeemaker is no different and another very good product from Ninja. There's a lot of 'unpacking' to do out of the box as you'll have the coffeemaker, carafe and lid, coffee spoon, adapter and lots of tape to remove. There are a couple of great things about this coffee-maker. The most important is that it makes really good coffee, and it is as fast as any K-cup OR drip style coffeemaker that I've ever used. It's a very sleek looking machine with a tiny footprint, so it's very easy to fit on a counter-top. The reservoir holds a lot of water, which is also great. If you drink a couple of cups a day you can still go a week without having to refill the water reservoir. You can tailor the size of the cup you want to make, or even the carafe. There are a lot of options for both. There's also a 'smart heat plate' that will keep it warm and the plate 'on' based on the size of the carafe you brewed. Set up was a bit more complicated than I was expecting, and not very intuitive. I had to refer back to the manual a few times, and there were a couple of things I couldn't find in the manual that I had to figure out myself. I did without too much extra effort, but this is actually my biggest issue with this machine--it seems unnecessarily complicated. From setting the clock, commencing the brewing and even switching from k-cups to carafe, there are a lot of steps that are, again, not very intuitive. The clock, for example, has to be 'dialed' around 12 hours to change from AM to PM (I couldn't find this in the manual, but eventually figured it out). To change from carafe to k-cup requires sliding pieces and making sure a piece is locked before it will work, etc. I had to refer to the manual many times to figure out what I was doing wrong. I'm sure after doing it a few times I'll be used to it but it's going to take some time, and referring to the manual several times I'm sure. Overall it's a great coffeemaker that I highly recommend, just be prepared to refer to the manual a few times while you're using it.

    No other k-cup brewer compares

Let's just start off by saying that having the option to switch between k-cups and traditional filtered grounds within a single coffee maker is a game changer. If you've had both you know that each has their own pros and cons. Sometimes you're in a rush and just need a quick cup of coffee. Other times you might be hosting a breakfast party and need an entire pot. This coffee maker gives you the best of both worlds. More importantly though is the quality of coffee that it produces. Because convenience or utility won't matter if the coffee isn't any good. Now before I continue I feel I need to disclose that I've had a Ninja Coffee Bar system for a few years now and it's been my favorite coffee maker I've ever had. In fact, it's kind of ruined other coffee makers for me, and for my wife as well. We like our coffee strong and always use the 'Rich' setting (which this dual brew has as well). So anytime we go on a trip we can't wait to get back to our own good Ninja coffee. I mention that because we have an RV and you can't go on RV trips without coffee. But because of space and cost, we decided it was better to have a k-cup machine in there (plus it was a hassle to pack up and take the Ninja every time). But the coffee was horrible and weak. We tried 2 different machines and countless flavors of k-cups. Nothing worked and we eventually gave up, accepting that we just weren't going to get the same quality coffee as we do at home. Then along comes this Ninja dualbrew. At this point we were skeptical of the k-cup but worse case we could just use the grounds option. Surprisingly though, the coffee that came out of the k-cup was not just good, it was great! We even used the same k-cups we used before with those other machines as we had a lot left over after we gave up on it. It's almost unbelievable the difference in quality. One of the reasons I think it's so much better with this Ninja is because it has a 'Rich' setting that is available for either grounds or k-cup. And honestly the k-cup quality is right there with the quality using grounds. Even more impressive is that I used the largest cup size setting! Other k-cup machines I've had to use the smallest setting just to try and make it as strong as possible. I can't tell you how excited I am that that's no longer something I have to worry about. One of the unique features with this Ninja and its k-cup adapter is the triple needles that poke through the top of the cup. I believe this design may just be a huge factor in how it makes such a good cup of coffee out of a small k-cup. The triple needle design does have its down side though. Most reusable k-cups probably won't work with this Ninja, since they're designed for the standard single centrally located needle. That brings us to my next negative, or I should say nit-pick. While the design that makes the dual brew function possible is genius, it would have been even more impressive if they figured out a way to keep both functions contained within the unit. But as it is, whenever you use grounds, you have to take out the k-cup adapter and set it aside somewhere. Again, that's me being nit-picky and it's a very minor inconvenience to pay for a game-changing feature. And finally there's one more nit-pick I have, and that is that it doesn't come with a permanent reusable filter when using grounds. Normally this wouldn't be something I'd think of, but as I said, I've had an older Ninja coffee system for years. And it did come with a permanent reusable filter. One that I still use to this day, but unfortunately it won't fit in the dualbrew. Besides the benefit of not having to buy filters, I think it does affect the flavor of the coffee. Even though the coffee brewing styles appear to be the same between my old Ninja and this new dual brew, both me and my wife noticed a slight difference in flavor using the same coffee we always use. I believe that may be due to the fact we have to use the supplied paper filters on this dualbrew versus the permanent screen filter. Being that the price point is the same as our older model I don't understand why they didn't include it (they do sell it separately though of course). One final praise I have about this Ninja is all the different size options it gives you. From a small cup to a large, travel cup, big cup, and 4 different levels in the pot. You can make exactly the amount you want or need without having to waste a single drop. What I like even more is that in addition to the size descriptions, it actually shows the ounces. To sum it all up, Ninja continues to be my favorite coffee maker and even more so now that we can finally have good coffee again when in our RV. The few nit-picks I have are very minor and don't really take away from how good this coffee maker is. I've been recommending a Ninja coffee maker for years to everyone I know and will continue to do so. And if you're someone who prefers k-cups, this is a must. No other k-cup machine I've used can even come close to the quality this Ninja produces.

Bought 11/20/22. Filled the container with water to full to go through a cleaning process first. Water was everywhere when i came back downstairs. I cleaned up everything and decided to go round 2 with a k cup over ice option. Once again water went everywhere and it was coming from the bottom? Something is cracked inside. My wife wanted this for brewing tea and she loves it. She used both store bought K-Cups and a reusable K-Cup to make tea. Now she can brew it a pitcher at a time. The brew strength and size options make this the perfect tea and coffee brewer! The Ninja DuelBrew can brew 4 sizes of K-Cups and up to 9 sizes in the carafe. The Classic strength makes 8 to 55 ounces. The Rich strength makes 7 to 47 ounces. I’m guessing it brews less for a stronger brew. It was 18 seconds until the first drop and takes a little over a minute for a K-Cup. It takes about 8 minutes for a full carafe. It has a manual shut off lever if you can’t wait until the pot is finished and the pot also has an anti-splash screw on lid. I tested the temperature and it brewed at 178F. We never found a way to adjust the brew temperature. It comes with the owner’s guide and a quick start guide, a removable K-Cup pod adapter so you can use the sliding lid to cover the basket to brew into the pot. It comes with a brew basket that must be used for the K-Cup and pot. Lifts out for easy cleaning. It uses #4 cone shaped paper coffee filters. They include a few to get you started. It has a dual ended smart measuring scoop that stores on the side of the unit. It comes with a removable 60 ounce (7 ½ cups) water reservoir. See photos. It has an “intelligent” warming plate that can be adjusted from 2 hours up to 4 hours before automatically shutting off. It can also brew without the warming plate being turned on. It has a built-in folding coffee mug shelf to brew straight into a mug. The DuelBrew has a delayed brew feature which is very easy to use. Once its clock is set you can set the timer when to start brewing. Note that when setting time it defaults to AM so keep turning the knob until PM lights up. The Ninja DualBrew has 3 piercing spray nozzles for the K-Cups so it spreads the water out to brew faster and better. However, the regular reusable K-Cup pod can’t be used due to the single hole. Instead use one like I do in the photos. If you can’t find the white coffee filters with an attached lid then use a second filter on top of the grounds or tea like in the photo. This Coffee / Tea pot is so advanced that it can set itself when used at high altitudes. Refer to the quick start guide. Low cabinets could be an issue accessing the lid. The Ninja DuelBrew was nicely packed in its well padded box which is a plus with potential rough shipping. Build quality looks and feels good. It has a fairly small footprint and doesn’t easily scoot around. Text on the front panel and the LED lights are easy to see and read. Very highly recommended!!

Our dual brew is replacing a single brew for pods only. We have guests who prefer traditional brewed coffee so when this came along we were anxious to try it. We have several ninja appliances and they are always well built and wonderful products. The dual brew is no exception. There was a quick start guide, but everything is clearly laid out and simple to set up. I cleaned all the parts and ran a cleansing brew, as directed. The reservoir will hold plenty of water and we always use filtered. We tried the pod feature first. There are multiple size choices but we always use the 12 oz size. I had the choice of rich or classic. Interesting note, I couldn’t tell much difference except rich used an ounce less water. The coffee didn’t seem to be quite as hot as our older coffee pot, but not significantly. We used the carafe the next morning and tried the delay brew. It worked perfectly. It was ready with a full pot of perfectly brewed classic medium roast. It stayed hot two hours although the last cup was a bit bitter after sitting. Everything works as expected and it looks really nice in our kitchen. There is a little lever you have to slide if you want to interrupt the brew cycle to get that first cup before the cycle ends. This is a nice coffee maker and you get choices for every taste.

The Ninja Dual Brew Coffee Maker is a versatile, well designed product which will satisfy the varying coffee tastes of every member of the household. You can use the pod of your choice for a single cup or brew coffee grounds into the provided carafe. For pods you can choose from 6-12 ounces and select Classic, Rich or Over Ice. For brewing grounds into the carafe you can choose 8-18 ounces as well as 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and 1 full carafe. Of course you can also select the blend of Classic, Rich or Over Ice. The carafe will hold up to 55 ounces. The water tank, which attaches to the right side, will hold up to 60 ounces. A measuring spoon is also provided which attaches to the left side. There is an intelligent warming plate which will automatically keep the coffee, in the carafe, at just the right temperature without allowing the coffee to burn. As long as you have the dial set to 1/4. 1/2, 3/4 or 1 full carafe. You can adjust the warming time from 2-4 hours. You can also use Delay Brewing by setting the time you would like the coffee maker to turn on. There is also a sliding switch which, when closed, will prevent dripping. There is a clean button for running water through the machine. The brew basket and the pod adapter are also very easy to remove and clean. So far we have been very happy with the Ninja Dual Brew as every member of our house has found the style and method that they prefer, and the coffee is very good. It is a very well designed machine with a relatively small footprint, taking up minimal counterspace. The display is bright, clear and easy to read. The only issue I have had is that there doesn't seem to be any way to set am and pm on the clock. When you set the time it automatically sets to am and you can't change it to pm. The instruction book does not explain how to do it. Overall a great machine and I would highly recommend this to everyone.

I love the versatility and design of this DualBrew coffee maker. My machine was a Cuisinart drip coffee machine. This Ninja can do that, plus make K-Cups, which is incredibly convenient when you just want one cup of coffee fast. The design of this machine makes it easy to use and take up a small footprint on my kitchen counter. And it makes great tasting coffee!
