So far it has been great making single cups of coffee. I have not used the carafe so I cannot comment on it yet. Hot water function is good in a pinch.

Love the ability to use K Pods but also coffee grinds when we want to/speciality blends. Digital display makes it look elegant. Ability to move the water resolver to the side or the back is a nice touch. It'll make a hot cup of coffee within 45 secs-1 min using the K Pods without any preheating necessary - that's crazy fast compared to our Ninja Coffee Bar we had before this. The addition of the hot water mode is perfect for Tea, hot chocolate, ramen noodles, etc. as well. We were able to get this as a black Friday special at $160. I'd say retail price ($249) would be too expensive, but that's just my opinion.

Amazing coffee machine
