Since purchasing my old air fryer I have been in love with the concept of air frying. It's fast, healthy, and so much easier than traditional deep frying or pan frying. So why did I get the Ninja Foodi Digital Air Fry Oven if I was already happy with the one I had? Two reasons. The quality of Ninja products, and the promise of a much more versatile product. Did it live up to that promise? Yes! And then some. The quality is apparent right out of the box. The size is great too. While it does take up a lot of counter space it sits upright when not in use making its footprint minimal. The star of the show is of course the food. First off I can make a lot more than my old air fryer. That's one big advantage of its larger size. It includes a tray, a basket, and a rack to add to its versatility. It can also bake, air fry, DEHYDRATE, and much more. The Ninja Foodi Digital Air Fry Oven will be replacing many appliances in my kitchen, and I feel like it will have a place for years to come. Try it out I think you will like it as much as me!!

    Ninja Quality With Limitations

I’ve owned and loved the Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker Air Fryer for about a year so I was thrilled to see Ninja expand its line of Foodi products with the Ninja Foodi Digital Air Fry Oven. Unboxing revealed the oven, a crumb tray, a 13x13 sheet pan, a 13x13 air fry basket, an owners guide, and a recipe booklet. The oven itself has a quality feel about it weighing it at 18.57 pounds and measuring 19.7 L x 7.6 W x 15 H. The stainless steel is very nice quality. I like the design which appears sleek and modern with a slightly rounded front edge. The control panel is on the right side and presents you with 8 cooking settings including air fry, air roast, air broil, bake, dehydrate, keep warm, toast, and bagel. Here you also find the time and temp buttons and below them is the power and light button. On the left you find the cool touch handle for opening the front oven door. Looks wise this Ninja is a winner. I was eager to try it out so I inserted the crumb tray and proceeded to plug it in. I was quickly surprised by the length of the power cord which measures only about 32 inches long. Ninja promotes the Foodi oven as a countertop appliance so if used as such I’m sure the cord would be adequate. However I personally would not place such a large appliance on my counter. I imagine Ninja has what they consider the solution to this by designing the Ninja oven to pivot at the rear of the oven and flip upward to conserve counter space. This is an ingenious idea but I’m guessing that many users like myself would still never use it in this manner. I myself like clutter free counters so I would prefer to use it out of sight in my pantry but here the cord length quickly presented an issue. I finally got situated and was ready to cook. Checking my freezer I thought I’d start with some air fried frozen chicken tenders. Since I was going to air fry I grabbed the included air fry basket. I saw in the user guide that Ninja suggests using a nonstick cooking spray on the basket. Ninja not including a nonstick pan is very disappointing as is the quality of this basket which seems somewhat flimsy to me. As I played around with the controls the functions seemed extremely intuitive to use even without referencing the user guide. Nice design. I was set and cooking in no time. As the cooking sequence started the oven enters a preheat mode and came up to temperature very quickly. I had referenced the recipe booklet to select time and temperature. You’ll find at the rear of the booklet that there are time and temperature settings for various foods. Being unfamiliar with the oven I monitored throughout the cooking process. Here the light came in handy. I really just ball-parked the cook time based on appearance and popped the tenders out for a taste test. The tenders were done but seemed somewhat on the dry side. When complete the oven then entered a cooling mode. As I washed the air fry pan I found it’s fine mesh design problematic for cleaning. Over the next few days I tried various other foods in the Ninja Foodi oven on various crisp control settings with mixed results. I have to say the Ninja Foodi oven worked well but I found it challenging in regard to getting cook time and temp settings right. This thing gets hot fast and at times I ended up burning meals as I overestimated the temperature settings. I found myself having to constantly monitor the cooking visually. This was a bit of a pain. I’m hoping that this will become less of an issue as I get accustomed to the Ninja oven. One reason that I think it’s difficult to judge temperatures is due to the size of the cooking compartment. Anything you put in the Ninja is relatively tight because there is only 3 inches of clearance from the bottom tray position to the top cooking elements. You definitely won’t be cooking a whole chicken in this thing. This tight space makes for high temps and quick cooking but I think presents a huge limiting factor on what you can actually prepare in the Ninja Foodi oven. Frankly I think Ninja recognizes the odd limitations of this product by focusing a bunch on sheet pan meals in their included literature. I had never heard of a sheet pan meal and I don’t really intend to make one. It seems to me that Ninja is grasping for cooking suggestions to make a small oven useful. Don’t get me wrong the interior accommodates a 13x13 pan so it can cook a bunch of food just not anything taller than a few inches. Overall the Ninja Foodi air fry oven is a quality product with some disappointments and limitations.

    The best of both worlds

Ninja Foodi Digital Air Fry Oven Included- the air fry oven, removable crumb tray, wire rack, sheet pan and air fry basket, recipe book, manual, and limited 1 year warranty, This Ninja Foodi Digital Air Fry Oven is both a convection oven and air fryer. So it's great that it's 2 appliances in 1. It has multiple settings- air fry, air roast, air broil, bake, dehydrate, warm and toast. And there are additional accessories you can purchase- broiling rack, casserole/baking dish, muffin tray and a magnetic cutting board, so you can expand your cooking options. When cooking, it's important to remember adjust the times and temps on traditional recipes to achieve the best results. The temperature has to be 25 degrees F less and 30% shorter in time. The air fry oven is easy to operate. It will make your food crunchy without all of the fat! It worked great on our fries, chicken strips, mozzarella sticks and pizza. The size of the air fry oven is about 7 3/8" high, 19.5" across and 13.5" deep. It weighs about 27 pounds. Ninja was super clever though, and lets you store it vertical so it takes up less counter space. After use, the screen will switch from "hot" to "flip" to let you know it's ok to lift up. It pivots easily. I also appreciate that the power cord in the back can be directed to the left, right or middle with cord holders so that it can plug into your outlet no matter what direction it is from where you are setting your oven. The cleaning up is easy to do. The sheet pan and air fry basket are dishwasher safe. The rest needs to be wiped down with a cloth. There is also easy access to deep clean the oven. Once you flip up the oven in the storing position, you push the button to up and lower the door. From there you can easily access the inside to clean it more thoroughly. There are only a couple downsides of this air fry oven for me personally. The size because it's a bit bulky, even in the upright storing position. If counter space is precious, it will take up quite a bit of room. Also, though the trays are fairly decent in size, I have a big family (4 kids) so it's not always ideal if I need to make a lot of something. I feel like this is perfect for someone single or has a small or medium family. You can feel a little less guilty eating all of your junk food since you aren't frying any food in oil. I always hear good things about air fryers and Ninja is the best out there.

    All In One Kitchen Appliance

Overall this Ninja all in one air fryer product is a good quality and very versatile kitchen appliance. It can do several things including air fry, dehydrate, bake, and toast. If you are looking for a jack of all trades type product then I would highly recommend buying this. The pros of this product are that it can do a little bit of everything. In fact, it can do quite a lot of everything because it has a very large capacity when compared to other air fryers and toaster ovens. I have tried out the air frying, toasting and baking but have not had a chance to dehydrate yet. I can say that all of the functions work quite well. Other positives include the ability to clean up rather easily (including in the dishwasher), the ability to flip up and save space in the kitchen, the easy to use digital interface, and the glass in the front so you can see in without having to open the oven. There are also some cons to consider in this oven. First, the height of the oven is pretty shallow so hard to cook anything that is very tall. Also, because the fry pan is not fully enclosed like other air fryers it is harder to shake and stir french fries or other items when air frying. Also, the circulation of the air is not quite as precise as other rounded air fryers and it can get hot spots easier. In summary, the trade off of having all the functions in one is that none of the functions are as good as having the specific product. In other words, you can get better results with a real oven, toaster, pizza oven, air fryer and dehydrator, but then you also have to fill your kitchen up with multiple products (or store them). Overall, I think the trade off is worth it, which to me makes this product worth owning, and would highly recommend.

So, this is my first experience with an air fryer, and really I thought that air fryers were just a fad. I was totally happy with my traditional toaster oven. But the first time I made sweet potato fries, I was totally sold. They came out way crispier than I could ever get them in a regular toaster oven without burning. And then I tried just plain toasting eggos, and even those crisped and browned much better than my old toaster oven could ever do. So just trying those two things I'm already sold on air fryers, and then combining it with a toaster oven is the most genius thing ever. Other nice things: - Inside light is bright and clearly illuminates food. Will automatically turn on with 30 seconds left on the timer. - Easy to clean: flip it up, bottom opens up, and you can get the whole interior - Flipped up it really saves counter space. Be mindful of it's size though. This toaster/air fryer is really deep, so when laying down it occupies more counter space than you might expect. But that also means when it's stood up, it might not fit under your cabinets if they're just a little bit too low.

Okay, I admit it. I think I'm becoming a Foodi-holic and the Air Fry Oven is helping that along. Our family is at the stage where everyone is going in different directions each day so dinners together aren't a daily occurrence. Instead, it's every man for himself. However, my college-age child said the Foodi was "too complicated" to use to air fry (this from the kid who sends my mind spinning when talking about programming electronics). So, I still had a counter filled with other small appliances. Not anymore. Not only did I get rid of three appliances off my counters, the one that's left, folds up when not in use to give more counter space for meal prep or sandwich making. Even better, I no longer have a whinging kid complaining about complicated appliances. She loves it, not just for air frying but she was able to make her own beef jerky marinated the way she wanted it. As for me, I love that I can easily make a meal for one or two without having to turn on the big oven and heat up the house. There is a lot that can be done with this oven and I'm planning on getting some accessories as being able to bake muffins or a casserole without heating up the house will see that happen more often as well. Oh, and it is very easy to clean which is a huge plus in my book. The recipe book that comes with it is great as well. I've used a couple of the sheet pan meal ideas and my kid loves the air fried french toast. This is a great appliance for people with limited counter space, college dorms or people downsizing now that the kids have flown the coop. Now, if you'll excuse me, I think I need to see if there is a Foodi-anonymous meeting anywhere.

My new bestie in the kitchen

Not wanting a traditional air fryer we chose this one mainly for the large cooking area and flip up option; plus we love Ninja products. This little baby has pretty much replaced my oven. We’ve cooked everything from perfect toast to pizza, steak and chicken, roasted veggies; you name it, we’ve cooked it. If using the air fry or air roast option, just be mindful that its going to run a good 25 degrees higher than your normal oven so you’ll want to compensate for that. It’ll probably take some experimenting to get your food cooked exactly how you want it, but believe me, it’s worth it. The only reason i can’t give it 5 stars is because once certain things get on the walls of the oven, it’s almost impossible to get them clean again. Even though the back flips open, which does make cleaning easier, it’s Very hard to get close to the heating elements to clean them. Whatever the inside material is, it seems to want to hold on to grease and grime. I’ve tried every cleaner & method known to man, and still haven’t been able to get it totally clean. Even with that being said, we’ve had it going on several yrs now and it’s still running like a chanp.

    Almost Perfect

The Ninja Foodi Digital Air Fry Oven is the kind of appliance I have come to expect from SharkNinja. High quality materials, attention to detail and ease of use. Although I am one of those people that reads all the instructions before using anything, this oven is very easy to use right out of the box. Naturally, the first thing I tried to make was French fries. I have always been curious to see if these types of appliances really can fry foods without using a lot of oil. I sliced up some potatoes, coated them in just a little olive oil, seasoned them and put them on the included air fry basket. I set the dial to air fry and pressed start. Per the instructions, I rotated the basket half way through cooking. The result was better than I expected. Every French fry was thoroughly cooked; crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. I couldn’t have made better French fries in a deep fryer. The next thing I made were chicken nuggets (my daughter’s favorite). I used the frozen kind we get at my local big box store. I just laid them out on the air fryer basket, set it to air fry and let it cook. One again, perfect. Each one crispy on the outside, soft and juicy inside. I plan on trying a few of the recipes included with the oven. From making pan meals, dehydrating fruits and vegetables or making a pizza, I have a lot of experimenting to do. One of the most unique features of this oven is that you can flip it up when it is not in use. This is a great feature, especially since it’s got a rather large footprint when in use, but when flipped up, you get a good amount of counterspace back. Also you can access and clean the crumb tray when it’s flipped up. Nice touch. Of course no appliance is perfect. I would throw out my old toaster oven if it weren’t for the fact that the Ninja Foodi is low profile. So low profile in fact that several of the small baking dishes my wife uses for things like brownies or casseroles won’t fit in this oven. We use our toaster oven quite frequently because our regular oven is one of those massive professional ovens and for small items, it’s just not worth it to fire it up. If they had just made this an inch or two taller, it would be perfect for us. Other than that, this is a great oven for everyday use.

We haven’t had it too long but everything so far seems great. It’s large so it takes up quite a bit of counter space and the cord is really short so we have to have it turned sideways on the counter instead of facing out because of where our outlet is. But that’s ok, just a tad irritating. I wish the cord was a bit longer. I like that it folds up. The black tray isn’t the easiest to clean, even cleaning it right away or soaking it, it still looks like it isn’t clean; it seems a bit cheap. Overall we like the different functions we’ve used so far.

I wanted to wait a bit to write this review after I was able to really use the product. This oven has easily become my favorite in my entire kitchen! I’ve used almost all of the settings I even dehydrated chicken jerky for my dog with ease. The fold up option is a great feature and frees up your counter when not in use. It preheats very very quickly in less than half of the time of your traditional oven, and any other air fryer product I have. I’m not a big fan of cooking but this product makes it very easy to make a whole meal with very little effort. It’s very easy to use even my mother who’s in her 60s is able to use it daily and has no issues. The only con I have is the height of the oven, it’s sort of low clearance I’ve toasted French bread in there and even cut in half it reaches the top of the oven so, make sure whatever you’re cooking lays as flat as possible

For all those times you want to cook a small meal or snack, heat up leftovers, or crisp up something like roasted vegetables, this is an excellent choice. Food comes out evenly cooked, and the air fry feature works great. French fries even taste excellent, all without oil. Pizza crisps just right, and sandwiches are heated throughout. The digital controls are easy to use, and the small environment heats up quickly. One nice feature about this oven is the fold-up design. While not small in any dimension, it can be folded to fit in the corner of your counter while taking up minimal space. Even without the fold-up feature, this would be an excellent choice for an air-fry toaster oven. With this feature, it’s hard to beat.

First off, this thing is not small by any stretch of the imagination. I was a little shocked at how large the box was. But that pays off in the sense that it can accommodate up to a 13" pizza or enough bread for 4 non-Dagwood sandwiches. That being said, it's doesn't have much in terms of height so taller objects may pose a bit of a challenge. However, the shorter height is probably done for a reason and that's the super cool feature that it can fold up when not in use. With the fact that this device is so deep, it can take up a lot of counter space but with this feature, it simply folds up when not in use. I can't express how great a feature this is. I feel like a lot of home appliances have some questionable usability in terms of the controls - some may be overly complex whereas some try to simplify things for aesthetics. This device splits the difference and even without reading instructions, it is incredibly easy to use with a start/pause button that also doubles as an adjustment knob. You'll use that knob to choose your level of crispiness, if you will. Then, you can adjust the time and then the temperature by pressing either of those buttons that are located directly below the knob. Super simple. The other cool thing is that once in operation, adjusting the time or the temperature is done the same manner. Simply rotate the knob and the time or temperature will change, again, with a press of either one of the buttons below it. I found preheating time to be very quick. In regards to how well it prepares food, I found it did a great job with french fries, whether just reheating or actual air frying from a bag of frozen fries. Two things to keep in mind - it gets hot very quick and you will need to watch your food. In addition, make sure to rotate the tray a handful of times during the cooking process as the heat distribution isn't necessarily even across the entire pan. Cleaning the device is very straight forward with a crumb pan that you can access through the front panel and there is also a latch on the bottom of the unit where you can clean out anything that may fall through. A smart design. And this may seem trivial, but you can tell that some thought was even put into the light on the inside. When you press the light, it doesn't just suddenly come on - it lights up smoothly like it's on a dimmer switch and the same when you turn it off. This isn't a cheap appliance, however, the thought that went into it shows. From the high quality to the easy usability, Ninja did a great job with this device.
