Manufacturing defect?

Only used twice and noticed errors on the screen (telling me to plug in). The item was plugged in. After inspecting, I noticed that the area around the cord looked strange. I unplugged and noticed the cord on the inside and the plastic surrounding it looked melted. I immediately boxed it up and returned. How scary!! It was never near heat so I’m thinking this was faulty or had a defect. Also, it was very large, took up too much counter space and heavy!! Whenever I did use it, it worked well!!

It works as advertised!
