Temp buttons stopped work after 6 months
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved this item. I rarely used anything else but it to cook. I picked in up in December and used it almost everyday. But in the last few weeks, 7 months after purchase, the control pannel sensors to lower the temp no longer work. I can raise the temp but can't lower it or change from high to low settings. So disappointed, as I truely loved loved loved this appliance. I've sung its praises to everyone, and now have to take it all back.

Cooks very well, easy to use and clean!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We absolutely love our Nina Foodi Indoor grill! To begin with, as long as you prepare your food properly, the Ninja grill will take care of the rest. Everything we put in it came out perfectly cooked. We used every feature on this grill, except the dehydrating part. The second reason why you get an appliance like the Ninja grill is the convenience that it provides. Just follow the instructions to determine the proper cooking settings and the grill will do the rest. Depending on what you cook, the only thing you need to do is to flip the food. This grill will guide you through the whole process from start to finish. It will tell you when to add the food, flip and of course when it is done. The control panel is very intuitive and very easy to use. One of the few downsides to any kind of grilling is the cleanup, but with this Ninja grill, even that is very quick and easy to do. This grill has enough room for 6 small steaks. Once the grill has cooled, pull out whatever accessories you have used and let them sit in some warm soapy water and a few minutes later you can rinse them off. It comes with an additional scrubber for the grill, so that was added little bonus. Speaking of additional bonuses, it does come with a thermometer and a little recipe book to get you started. You can also go online to their website for additional recipes. This year we will be doing some more grilling indoors during the winter time now that we have this Ninja Foodi grill. If you are a fan of grilling and you are looking for convenience, then I highly recommend this grill by Ninja.

If you have the counter space, this is a nice tool
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This grill is a great addition to the kitchen. If you want to grill a steak or take frozen chicken to the table, this is the way to go. I’ve tried making a steak with the thermometer, and it turned out perfectly. You ask for medium, you get medium. And this was without any smoke filling the room. I’ve made steaks with a cast-iron pan and the oven and end up filling the room with smoke, but this was much easier. The grill beeps and tells you when to flip the steak, and again when it’s done. It couldn’t be easier. I’ve also tested their claim that you can take a frozen chicken breast to being totally done in 25 minutes. This claim is absolutely true. In the instructions they say that it can take up to 25 minutes, which I can say is correct for a thicker breast at about 1.25 inches thick. I did two at the same time, and the thicker chicken breast was done perfectly at 25 minutes, the smaller breast was a bit overdone and tough. I imagine I’ll get used to the timing with more use. Some additional information I’d like to give: 1. Preheating takes about 10 minutes, so if you’re timing your dinner, take this into account. 2. The non-stick grill pan is definitely non-stick. I take it out, brush it off and put it into the dishwasher without any issue. 3. The accessories are definitely machine-washable. I’ve put them into through the washer a few times and they look like new. Unfortunately I haven’t had the occasion to use the air-fryer function yet, but I’m looking forward to trying it out. :)

||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It does have cool feathers, kind of an indoor Traeger where you set the desired meat temperature and let it cook. However...it is a pain to clean. Once it gets a bit greasy inside you'll have more and more issues with smoke. I would just spend the $ on an outdoor pellet grill instead. After a year with this I'm taking it to Goodwill.

Excellent indoor grill
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a versatile appliance. It grills, bakes, broils, air crisps, and dehydrates. It seems very well built, and it’s a nice looking unit, but as always, there are pluses and minuses. As mentioned, the build quality seems quite good, and it’s large enough to cook steaks and such for a family. Its height is a bit limited, so I’m not sure a whole chicken would easily fit. It looks nice enough to leave out on your counter if you have space. It’s not exactly dainty and fairly heavy. My major complaint about storage is that you can’t put everything inside it at once. There’s a bottom pan that is used for all cooking modes. In addition, there’s the grill and an air frying basket. Either the grill or the basket has to be stored outside the unit. Just a little resizing would have allowed the basket to sit on top of the grill. I think that’s a design miss which could be easily fixed. Most air cookers are loud, and this one is no exception. Almost all the recipes call for preheating which takes 8-10 minutes. That plus cooking time means it’s going to be running at least 20 minutes or more. The pre-heating is primarily to get the thick grill hot so it sears the meat. It does that nicely, but be aware that the grill also takes a long time to cool. In its favor, the no-stick surfaces clean very easily. Just don’t use metal utensils or harsh scrubbers. Of course, the purpose is to cook and especially to grill. That’s where the Ninja Grill excels. Steaks, chicken, and chops come out looking and tasting very much like they were grilled outside … seared on the outside and juicy inside. Basically, grilling is top-notchs, and the other air cooking functions are pretty typical. The large, easy to read control panel leads you through the settings … heat level, cooking method (grill, crisp, etc.), type of food, and degree of doneness (rare to well done). When operating manually, you set the cooking time. If you plug in the heat probe, it shifts to preset mode and cooks to a specific meat temperature. It even lets you know when it’s time to flip the meat (optional, but it makes for better grilling). When done, it tells you to remove the meat and gives a resting time count. We found that a setting toward more rare or a shorter cooking times gave better results, but your taste may vary. If it’s rainy or too cold to grill outdoors, you’re going to love this indoor, smokeless grill.

Cooking done easily
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ninja has scored a winner with this six-function indoor cooker. It grills, air fries, roasts, and more. Right out of the box, you can plug it in, and it is ready to cook. That said, be sure to wash the cook ware surfaces first. Secondly, be sure to carefully read at least the instructions for whichever function you are going to use. If you do that and follow the instructions, you are pretty much count on a successful outcome. I say “pretty much” because you will learn to adjust the outcomes for your taste. The meat thermometer that comes with the cooker is a key element in ensuring a good outcome with meat. There are clear instructions regarding thermometer placement, proper use, and care. Treat it right and it to be a good cooking partner. My first use was to grill three small steaks, which are what the grill size accommodates without crowding. By properly inserting the thermometer and setting the cooking instructions per the manual, I turned the cooking over to Ninja. For a first-time effort, I was not disappointed. The steaks were done to a pink center, with no muss or fuss. Also, I learned what adjustments I would need to make if different doneness levels were wanted. I already have an air fryer that I really like for French fries. Using the Ninja and following the instructions, I got excellent crispy fries with the first effort. No adjustment needed, and it is quicker. Vegetables are grilled well. Depending upon the vegetables and how crisp you want them, it may take a couple of times to get them to your taste. After the cooking implements have cooled, cleanup is easy. I use warm water, Dawn, and either a non-abrasive cloth or the provided brush, and it is done in minutes. As good as this grill is, it falls a bit short of perfect. It is bulky and heavy, so storage may be an issue. In addition, the grill itself must be stored separately when the cooking pot and crisper basket are in the cooker, or vice versa. This, to me, is enough to cost 1 star for what is otherwise a 5-star cooker. There is a lot to like about this Ninja smart cooker, and I am pleased overall with its ease of use, almost spot on suggested cooking times, and prep/clean up ease. In many ways, it is cooking simplified.

Pretty incredible
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ll start by pointing out something that’s advertised on the box, which is that this grill is virtually smoke-free. If you have a smaller kitchen without great ventilation - which is my situation where using the oven and stove for any length of time is all but guaranteed to send the smoke alarms blaring - the Ninja really delivers the goods and simply warms the food instead of your entire room. I can’t overstate how nice that is. But it’s great at cooking too! To date, we’ve cooked chicken thighs (using one of the included recipes), roasted potatoes and air fried sweet potatoes and it’s all come out wonderful. The chicken was perfect and again, although we used a significant amount of marinade, there was no smoke. Ahhh. We also used the Ninja to dehydrate mango and now I don’t ever want to buy dehydrated mango again. Super delicious with absolutely zero effort. A no brainer. As a piece of hardware, I’m equally impressed. We have a Ninja coffeemaker, so I expected it would be nice. But I think this has the coolest display I’ve ever seen on a kitchen appliance. It’s bright, big, and exceptionally clear. You’ll be able to check the cooking temp and time from across the room, which certainly comes in handy. The size is nice and the smart thermometer feature is genius. Build quality seems sturdy and solid and best of all perhaps... everything is EASY to clean. Thank God. Cons? I suppose there will be people (especially in larger families) who will wish it was a bit bigger. You’re probably not cooking a bulk amount of food for a dinner party on this. But otherwise you can’t beat it. No more changing the menu if it rains or is too cold to want to grill outside. No more hoping the propane tank doesn’t run out. Can’t wait to try some of the other recipes in the book that came with it.

The new standard in Multi-cookers!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having owned several devices in the Foodi line, as well as an entire arsenal of Ninja-brand electrics in our kitchen, ranging from Blenders to coffee makers, we've been most impressed with the new Foodi SmartXL Indoor grill. This thing has completely replaced our other air fryer/air crisper and added indoor grilling functionality that is both fast and mess-free. This machine is also the CLEANEST working grill/air cooker we've used- I also had the opportunity to try the thermometer function, which is intuitive and very accurate. We've been enjoying the grill for chicken, steaks, as well as lots of lower-fat crisping of breaded foods and potatoes. The device is typical Ninja excellent build quality and the inside cooking area is made of a porcelain coated surface that has easy cleanup properties. The machines cleans up easily on the outside as well, since the entire control panel is a single piece of glass with touch sensitivity. The fan assembly has a washable filter screen that catches oils and grease and keeps the fan and motor area clear of buildup. This is our favorite new cooking device and it works astoundingly well. We will be recommending this to everyone we talk to about it!

Delivery Damaged
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Delayed for a day. Arrives and Box looked like someone ran it over. Figured, ahh I'll give it a chance maybe it's just the box. Open it up, looks nice. I'm just about to unwrap it completely and notice a huge triple crack on the side. It almost blended in, till you noticed it. Upsetting and a big hassle.

Great way to cook especially when limited on time
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although there is a lot of options on the oven’s digital menu to choose from, once you get started and try out a couple things, this may end up being your go to grill / oven / roaster, etc. We have made a few things and so far, we have been very happy with the results. Although a large device, it fit where out toaster oven once was and we have had a chance to use it a couple of times now. We made pork chops using the grill feature and the included thermometer to have the device do it all automatically. Aside from me hitting the wrong button during the cooking process and having to restart it in the middle, they came out great. Juicy and tender and full of flavor. The grill marks looked like I cooked them outside and the temperature was just right. I once again used the grill option to make burgers. There isn’t anything like the true taste of burgers on the grill but, this did a fine job; grill marks and all. I definitely see myself using this on those days where I don’t want to or just can’t cook outside. I had seasoned the ground beef, grilled them about about 6 minutes on medium and then flipped them over. Cooked them another 6 minutes, put my cheese on them and left them in the grill for 2 more minutes. Came out just about medium and we were very happy with them. Another attempt was just today, we baked two 1.5 pound pork tenderloins with potatoes and asparagus. I seasoned the pork with a salt, pepper, paprika, chili powder and garlic powder dry rub. The potatoes were diced and seasoned with salt and pepper and a little bit of olive oil. The asparagus just had a touch of oil on them but nothing more. First, I cooked the potatoes for 10 minutes on bake at 350. Once that completed, I made room in the middle for the two pork tenderloins, shuffled everything around then added the asparagus to the pan on and around the potatoes. Finished up the cooking by setting the bake option to 325 for 25 minutes. WOW! Probably one of the best tenderloins I’ve made. It was fantastic. It can eliminate several other devices since it bakes, roasts, grills and fries. It can also dehydrate so I’m going to try my hand at making jerky next. I think anyone that takes the leap and goes with this will be very pleased.
