To sum my thoughts up in one sentence, this thing is so much fun, easy to use, (mostly) easy to clean, and versatile with what types of drinks you can make. I had been seeing and thinking about one of these for some time, and I just wish I had used one sooner. The package itself is a little bit larger, but nothing crazy and it is all packed well and easy to get going. As is setup. There is not really much to it. The machine is, again, a little large, but it is really a few larger pieces. Easy to take apart and put back together. Once there, it mostly is just a matter of deciding what you want to do. You more or less add your ingredients, hit start and you are on your way. I am not really sure how it all works, but you select what you want, or you can have it do all of that for you. They call it SlushiAssist, but it just somehow knows and makes the drink the perfect texture. It is some kind of Wizardry. You do have granular control with several preset programs and control over the temperature, but so far I have not really even needed to take those steps. Perhaps with summer coming it may change things, but I shall see. While operating, the machine is fairly quiet, or at least not loud, and while I have not really tested this yet, I am interested to see how it does keeping slushy in the machine for extended periods. They claim it can for up to 12 hours. We shall see. To this point, it has been a lot of soda and coffee drinks for me, but I also have delved into some alcoholic options, and everything has been just about perfect. Texture, flavor, everything. As I get more into this I can see this being a PROBLEM lol, especially with summer coming up and more entertaining options available to me. Honestly, a good problem to have. I look forward to finding more creative ideas and recipes. Milkshakes are also on the horizon. As for cleanup, as I hinted to above, I think it is “mostly” easy to clean. The cycle itself is a breeze, and I do feel it does a very good job, but I also feel I will want to take it apart and clean everything independently as well. From time to time. The pieces are bigger and require some effort. Nothing major, and really an issue for me, but something to note. In the end, I love this thing. I have only scratched the service of how I think I will use this. Beyond that, it is well built, fun, so, so, so easy to use, and it performs beyond my expectations. I think for all that you get, as well as all you can do, the value is there. Check your use case for sure, but I think this is a kitchen appliance will have some sticking power in your life, just make sure you also have somewhere to put it.

The first thing to know is that the footprint on this machine is quite large so check the dimensions to make sure you not only have enough under cabinet space (If that is where it's going to go) but also that you have enough depth to fit it. It's not surprising that it's so large, though, as it has quite a bit of capacity to make enough drinks for a number of people. Noise-wise I would say it's not too bad, definitely not like a blender or anything, more like a low level hum. Surprisingly clean-up should not be a deterrent to you purchasing this as sometimes other kitchen appliances can be. Now to the drinks - I tried a couple boozy recipes as well as zero proof items (like a straight up slushee) and they came out well. The literature that comes with the machine guides you pretty well so don't let the fact that this machine can be and is so versatile scare you away from it. All in all, I would recommend this but really only if you plan on using it for a large number of people rather than to make one off drinks from time to time.

After using the Ninja SLUSHi XL Smart Frozen Drink Maker for the last week or so I can honestly say this is not only a great item for your home, but also a ton of fun to use. To begin, I will mention that this is a well made machine as you would expect from Ninja. It doesn't feel cheap in any way. This would hold up well in a small business setting such as a coffee shop, small restaurant or bar. With its 128 oz capacity it is on the large size but that's to be expected. I wasn't sure how it would be for cleaning but it turns out it is very easy to clean. You can do frozen drinks such as slushies, margaritas, fruit drinks and milkshakes and pretty much any other frozen concoction you can think of. We can have slushies ready to go in less than 20 minutes. Perfectly blended I might add without ice chunks. And it is relatively quiet as well. Controls are straight forward and easy to understand. It's easy for anyone in the family to use, young or old, and a fun way to make healthy fruit drinks. It may not be the first kitchen item you would think to buy, but it is definitely the funnest one and way more useful than you might think.

It's not until it dawns on you that you can add in anything with the right sugar and/or alcohol ratio and make a slushi out of it that the grin becomes hard to suppress. Of course, the book that comes with the machine tells you what sugar or alcohol content your drink needs, but if you get it wrong, the machine will be happy to tell you to add more sugar or more water to make your slush work. If you're not creative, the book also comes with a few recipes, with more on the Ninja website. So yes, with this machine you can make milkshakes, margaritas, soda slushies, wine slushies, frozen lemonades, orange julius, coffee frappe... the possibilities go on! It's advertised as 128oz, but that's a bit exaggerated, since it only lets you prepare a mix at a max of 96oz, which probably comes a little bit closer to that 128 after it freezes. The minimum mix is 24oz of liquid. You add in your mixed ingredients, (which can be a bit challenging, since things like sugar to not want to mix into cold liquids very well), and just press the SlushAssist button, and in 30 mins (give or take, depending on what you put in), you have yourself a slushi. It may be quicker if you jump to a preset such as Milkshake, as it won't spend as much time trying to sense what you put in. How it senses what you put in, I have no idea. It is a little unclear with some things like Milkshakes where it says to dispense within 30 mins of it being ready to prevent foaming, while at the same time it says it can keep slushies going for as long as 12 hours. I can only suspect it has something to do with the cream that it may not be able to keep those going for as long. Once you are done, I highly suggest taking a large pitcher of warm water and some soap, and put it on the rinse setting, and doing that a few times to get the bulk of it clean. Then you still will have to take it apart and properly clean with a sponge. This is a pain because it is large and awkward, with no easy way to put it down and get a good grip on it (both the container and the spiral agitator). That is easily the biggest drawback to this machine (difficult to clean). It doesn't fit well in my dishwasher either. If you have a dishwasher with an adjustable top rack, it may be easier to wash that way. Only other 'issue' with this machine is its size. Good luck finding a place to store it in your pantry. Or, alternatively, just keep it on your counter and commit to a life of slushies (woe is me!).

This review is on a Ninja - SLUSHi XL Smart Frozen Drink Maker, 128 oz. I am so glad that you can get these for your home. I wish I had one growing up. The drink maker comes with a lot of stickers and tape on it. It kind of makes it a little intimidating upon first look. It makes it look complicated but it is not. It really only has 1 main unit and 4 removable parts to worry about. It is so easy to use and makes the perfect slushy drink every time. The hardest thing is selecting the drink to put in it. It comes with recipes that you can make but you can put any liquid drink in it and it will come out perfect. After adding your beverage all you do is select the SlushAssist button. It will detect everything for you, including the alcohol and sugar level. If you need to add more of them it will tell you. It will start turning and in about 5 minutes you can see it start to slush and in about 15 minutes it will display that your drink is ready. Super fast for a fun drink. Cleaning is easy too but I don't recommend putting it in the dishwasher even though it says you can. Other people say it will warp.

This review is for the Ninja - SLUSHi XL Smart Frozen Drink Maker.Unboxing and setup was quick and easy. Comes with a handy recipe book. With some great recipes,  and it give you the basic idea of what you need to make your own drinks. This has been a huge hit at our house with both the kids and adults, From slushy, milkshakes or daiquiris. Half the fun is having the kid help make their own drink. We were very impressed with how fast this machine works. Turning our liquid (lemonade) into a slushy in under 15 minutes. On day one we just went to the refrigerator to see what we could find and that was lemonade. Next was orange juice and both turned out good. Over the last few days I have been trying a new recipe from the book that came with it. They are very easy to put together, But did require a run to the store for some of the ingredients. We are excited for our first get together this summer when we can make our own daiquiris of any flavor we wish. Also clean up is quick and easy. You just run warm/hot water throught the unit. Empty it out and then it comes apart very easy to rinse in the sink

The Ninja slushy maker does a whole lot other then just your tasty slushy drinks. Its great for parties. I had no idea some of the drinks out there were so good. And now that I can make them at home you become the “life of the party” (pun intended), and save a ton of money in the long run. You of course can make great drinks for kid as well with summer creeping up on us. Pretty much anything that your local convienence mart can make can now be made at home. The machine is very easy to set up and use. There are decals telling you how to set it up, with a manual as well for the more detailed info. What I really like is that the machine itself tells you what to do as you go. Add this, do that, etc, Its great and so easy to use. I look forward to the summer coming up to experiment with other cold drinks as well. And it has a built in cleaning feature that makes this one of the easiest appliances I have to use. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to save money and experiment with you and your friend favorite drinks. You might just end up making something new that becomes your new favorite!!

[PROS] Convenient Design: My initial concern on owning the device was about care and maintenance. Once the frozen fun ends, how would I get everything cleaned up? Fortunately, the parts can be easily disassembled and washed manually or with the dishwasher. I found no issue after using this a few times and letting the components run through a dishwasher cycle after each use. Extreme Ease of Use: From an operation perspective, the SLUSHi XL is not as intimidating as it seems. The interface is simple to understand with the program presets and temperature controls. The manual provides a thorough enough explanation of instructions and important features. After a few setups and teardowns, it becomes second nature to use. The liquid slowly, but surely solidified to create treats for all to enjoy. Accurate Detection: I found myself very impressed by how well this drink maker produced a frozen beverage without much intervention from myself. The Slush Assist helped me in making some slushes and milkshakes with relative ease. I know it won't be 100% accurate, but it works well for the needs of my family and friends. [CONS]: None that stood out to me. Its chunky and has some noise, but these are all things to be expected. [MIXED BAG] Storage: This is thing is undeniably huge. However, its a good problem to have if you like specialty frozen drinks. Fortunately, the disassembly of the product makes it easier to store. Otherwise, this will probably end up taking the place of a coffee maker or some other appliance depending on how much counterspace you have. [CONCLUSION] The SLUSHi XL met my rather large expectations. The increased compacity and smooth flow of operations make it a very useful and enjoyable product. I would highly recommend it as it can be used for multiple situations with peace of mind.

If you’re on the fence about getting a Ninja Slushi, go on and get one! You won’t regret it. We have been making slushies pretty much every day since it arrived and have not been disappointed. The Slush Assist feature is great and takes all of the guesswork out of the process. Frozen lemonade, fruit juice, soda, milk shakes, sweet tea, and powdered drink mixes worked perfectly. My absolute favorite was blue raspberry lemonade with a splash of lemon juice. A little sweet, a little tart, and absolutely refreshing! This will definitely be coming along for our trips to the cabin and I’m looking forward to some warmer weather to enjoy a refreshing frozen daiquiri with friends on back patio. The Ninja Slushi XL can hold up to 12 cups (96 ounces) of liquid, and features a 128oz slush capacity, perfect for a crowd. Compared to the original Slushi, I found the XL to be quite fast at full capacity (96oz), using a room temperature beverage mix, total slush time was around 27 minutes. At minimum capacity (24oz) room temperature, total slush time was roughly 12 minutes. In both tests, I used Slush Assist and default freeze levels. My personal preference is a slightly liquid slush and found reducing the freeze level by 1 level is the perfect consistency and slightly decreases the time to slush. Thicker slush is perfect for a shot of your favorite spirit. The XL is also extremely easy to clean, thanks to the rinse function. Everything is dishwasher safe (except the evaporator and motor base) but to be perfectly honest, clean-up is so quick and easy, it’s actually faster to clean by hand. I do have to mention, that drinks containing heavy coloring (fruit punch) may stain the dasher, and drink container if left for extended periods of time. Overall, I am very happy with the Ninja SLUSHi XL. My only regret is not purchasing one sooner!

Making great slushi drinks with this machine can be as simple, or as complicated, as you want to make it. If you want to come up with your own concoction, mixing ingredients and setting your own slushi temp, go for it. However, if you want the ultimate in ease, grab your favorite pre-mixed beverage of choice, dump it in the top, hit the power, press the Slush Assist button and walk away. Come back 30-45 minutes later and you’re golden. Things to like: - Incredibly easy to use. Fill up the chamber, hit Slush Assist, and come back 30-45 minutes later. - Dispenses slush easily with its large spigot. - XL sized chamber holds 96oz of liquid, which allows room to expand to about 128oz after slushing. - Easy to clean. When the party is over, fill the chamber with water (and I even put a bit of dish soap in there) and press the rinse button. Let it churn for 10 minutes or so & empty via the spigot. One simple lever allows you to disconnect the chamber & auger from the main unit. Then just rinse out the soapy water. The opening to the chamber is quite large, so you can easily get your hand in there for a deeper cleaning if desired. Things to note: - It does make a bit of noise when running. It’s not so loud that you can’t carry a conversation in the same room, but it’s loud enough that you’ll notice when it’s shut off. - As you get toward the ‘bottom of the barrel’, it struggles just a little bit to keep slush consistency. If you want to keep the party going, I’d suggest filling your glasses and then add more liquid at that time. Don’t wait until it’s almost empty and then refill. Overall, it’s a great machine. Friends & neighbors are already hitting us up with ‘hey, can we try this next time’ requests. If you do any amount of summertime hosting, you won’t regret having this in your arsenal.

WONDERFUL evolution of the home slushie machine!

I am a slushie fiend, and when the first Ninja Slushi came out I had to have one. I've noted a few issues and things I would change about the new Slushi XL, and I've been excited to try this one as well, and compare the two. Moving the chamber filling point to the top and having it protrude from the canister so that it doesn't contribute to messes or spills was a big one for me. The XL also continues the theme from the first Slushi of being insanely easy to break down and clean. It's become a habit for my family that when when finish the last drink out of it, we run water through it on rinse, two canisters full, and then we empty it as much as possible through the nozzle, ending with disassembly and a 2nd rinse. I love that there are ALMOST no crevices and hidden spots for sticky soda or drinks to hide out in. Switching to the spray on our kitchen faucet pullout gets the job done every time. The XL does indeed slush at twice the speed of the original ninja Slushi, and the the extra capacity means you can dump an entire 2 liter into this and not look back. Should you? I'll leave that up to you. Ninja is once again trying to camp out on my valuble counter space with single use appliances that I swear I won't give up space to, but here we are, I have to have it!

The first thing to know is that this XL version definitely has a large capacity but it's also rather large in size. It was bigger and heavier than I expected but I like that it's not a cheap, throwaway product. It’s built very well and should withstand a lot of use. Just keep storage and counter space in mind. This is appropriate for a family or a party but you can still make drinks as small as 16 oz. I love the fact that you don’t have to add additional ice to your ingredients - all you have to do is add whatever you want into the machine and it chills them to anything from a slushie to a milkshake and even soft-serve. It doesn’t get quite cold enough for thick ice cream though but a spoon could stand on its own with a thick milkshake. It’s pretty quick to chill where it takes around 15 minutes or so depending on ingredients and desired coldness and thickness levels. For sound, it’s not super quiet when it’s churning but also not overpowering by any means - you can still have a conversation or hear music while it’s running. Cleaning can be a concern with specialty appliances but was happy with how easily it comes apart and you can toss everything in the dishwasher. Great product overall and this can definitely be a hit at a party!
