Worst Blender Ever - buy the Vitamix

I had purchased this blender as for hopes it would have been as good as some of the reviews I read, as well as compare to another style blender I had bought from Ninja years before. In the end, I used the blender once, and the cap on the lid wouldn't tighten enough to not spill out when in use, the blender its self would not lock down on the base ( so it wouldn't even turn on) and it just didn't meet that standard I expected from being a Ninja purchaser before. In the end this is not recommended for someone looking to use their blender a lot and for different uses. We returned that same day and paid the extra money for the Vitmix and that was the best decision yet!

Some Good Ideas, But still Gimmicky

This is a 3-in-one blender system. There's a normal blender base with blender cup/blade. A smaller cup with it's own blades for smoothies or drinks that will end up being maybe one or two servings, and a food processor cup/attachment also with it's own blades. Additionally, there's a freshvac system that when attached to either the small cup or main blender cup, will suction all the air out. Ninja argues that this will help keep foods fresher (assuming you blend then refrigerate, leaving the food within the unopened blender cup) and reduce air bubble formation in general. The blade quality and performance are pretty good as one would expect from the ninja line. The connection between the base and cups is plastic, so there's some concern of this component wearing out but otherwise everything is tough and well built. The freshvac attachment is pretty easy to use. Powered from six AA batteries, there are attachment points on the blender cups which once you've added everything you need to blend, you can then remove air. The instructions says that it removes oxygen but I doubt it is sophisiticated enough to target only that gas. Once you push the power button, the freshvac operates on automatic. It runs until it detects it has extracted air. I think it essentially runs until the pressure it's exerting reaches a particular set point. Theres a plastic like valve which allows you to remove the freshvac without introducing additional air back into your blender cup. Of course, if you subsequently open the cup, you'll add air back in. The pictures suggest you can store food after it has been vacuumed either before or after blending. I'm not in the habit of preparing food and leaving it overnight in a blender cup in the fridge so I'm not sure the pre-blended use will be a function I use. There are times when I may blend food ahead of time and refrigerate overnight, the problem however is that I typically do this for meals where I need to blend either multiple things or quantitites larger than could be handled by the blender cup. Furthermore, I like to clean my tools once I'm done and not need to deal with additional cleanup later during the cooking stage. So, I'm unlikely to use the freshvac in this case as well. For me, there's just not a compelling use case. The blender base is interesting. It has a touch screen and will auto detect the cup that's placed upon it. From there, you'll get the option of selecting from three or four different blend modes. For example, the regular blender cup and smaller single serving cup will both have a frozen drink and smoothie program while the regular blender cup also has puree. The food processor also has puree and chop which neither of the other two get. These are just pre-programmed applications of the pulse, low, and high buttons which are present for all the cups. It's pretty cool that the blender can automatically settle and blend things for each mode. So far, I've always had to figure out a manual way of ramping things up with my previous blenders. Even though touch screens have been present on kitchen appliances for a while, based on the instructions, care will need to be taken to keep this one clean so that it remains responsive over the lifetime of the blender. The blending capability is pretty good. So is the food processor operation. This matches my previous experience with Ninja blenders. I'm a bit concerned with not having multiple speed/power settings for manual mode operation. Maybe that's not really needed but I've appreciated in the past the ability to ramp up the blender speed both as a way of managing food being processed and to minimize noise. Like other Ninjas, the blender base is not very quiet at the high or pulse output. Cleaning everything except the small blender cup is pretty straightforward. because of its size and only opening at one end, you'll need a cleaning implement that can reach inside for best results. It seems the major selling points are the freshvac and intelligent touch screen base. I think the freshvac is overrated and in practice will not be that useful. The touch-screen base's ability to provide different programs based on the attached cup is cool but the lack of fine tuned controls for the blend speed may turn some off. Unfortunately, the touchscreen's longevity is cause for concern here as well. That said, this is a pretty nice kitchen package and the functionality available with the blender cup, regular blender, and food processor is tough to beat.

    Powerful Blender with Features Galore

The Ninja Smart Screen Kitchen System is a 1400 Watt powerhouse. Depending on what cup you install, the smart screen literally displays just the unique features applicable to that cup. While this is a cool feature, I found it to be a little disappointing because I wanted to know what other features would be available if I used a different cup. Unfortunately there is no master feature list, so I found myself switching cup after cup just to read the features. The machine is heavy duty, however the cups are fairly thin plastic. So what you have is a super powerful motor, a well engineered machine, and cups which will hopefully survive the agitation. The other unique feature is the ability to add oxygen at the top of the blender. I honestly could not discern the difference nor see a tangible benefit with this feature. Unfortunately, my pantry is small, and I found storing all the accessories for this machine to be burdensome. While I highly recommend it, the user should be aware that there are indeed many accessories which will have to be stored, but you will find no more powerful blender on the market today.

This Ninja Smart Screen Kitchen System with FreshVac consists of a 1400 watt motor base with touchscreen display with 9 preset programs, a FreshVac Pump, 72 oz. FreshVac Pitcher, 20 oz. Single-Serve FreshVac Cup, 40 oz. Processor module, Stacked Blades which enable you to chop, puree, mix, and make dough, a slicing/shredding disc for the 40 oz. Processor module. This setup has several different type of blades and basically takes the place of two separate devices a blender and food processor. The first time I used this unit it was to create some fruit smoothies. Used frozen strawberries and bananas (they were fresh, but hold up better when blending if frozen). The blender base unit comes with several pre-programmed settings, I used the smoothie setting and it stopped and started the cycle automatically to maximize the blending process. in addition, the feet of the blender have suction cups on them so the unit does not do a walk across your counter or prep area, very ingenious. In any case the end result of the blending process, was a perfect smoothie ! There is a function to remove the air from the blending process which yields different results and appearance, I didn't realize that this could be used on the pitcher to lessen the amount of air mixed into the smoothie, I thought it was just to preserve leftovers. In any case next time I will try taking the air out during the blending process. The pitcher comes with a lid that clamps down and becomes super secure (this is one of the few blenders I felt comfortable not holding the top on during the blending process. The blender unit is fairly loud, but not more than most, it has a separate opening for pouring whatever you made into cups, very handy. Also provided is a 20 oz cup that also has a blade that can be used for smaller portion, personal size concoctions. The vacuum pump attaches to either container and removes all the excess air, it can be powered by 6AA batteries or an optional AC adapter. Overall, I am very happy with this setup and look forward to continued use. Pros: - Versatile - Preprogrammed modes that work for your use case - Suction cup feet - Powerful - Multiple blades Cons: - loud

This thing is a fantastic blender and it comes with 3 different items inside. It is a bullet blender which is great for small things like single serving smoothies, a big pitcher cup which is great for blending big things and a cup for food processing. This also has their Fesh Vac which takes the oxygen out of the food which makes it more richer as well. You can also make dough in the food processor as well which is an added bonus.

The Ninja System was a really big upgrade for me since I don't typically use a blender very often, because of that, I usually go with a product much lower in cost. I pretty much use blenders for Shakes and Smoothies but it's nice to have the functionality to do more once I get around to playing with some of the other features. The touchscreen has to be one of my favorite parts of this machine, while it is off, you simply have the power icon on the top left corner, top right will show you the icon for the three blending containers that come with the machine. Once you attach any one, the screen will switch to only show options used with this container, you have Two speeds and Pulse on the right hand side of the screen, the rest is pre-configured blending cycles that will blend with a countdown timer telling you how long until it's complete. The vacuum is a nice little touch, it has an indicator that that is white while vacuum is in progress, turns green when complete. I don't know at this time if it's just the included batteries, but they did not last very long at all before I would get the alternating green/white flashing light telling me to replace. Just put in some new ones, see how long it lasts. It does have the option to be used with an AC adapter, I feel for the price of the machine they could have easily included it , instead of slapping a sticker telling you it's available for purchase online for 14.99. Overall though I am really happy with this product, I would definitely recommend anyone looking to buy highly consider this machine!

As always Ninja doesn’t fail to impress. Blends to perfection with ease. The added accessories are a great addition. Definitely worth adding to your household. This is pretty similar to the Duo version (only difference is the added food processor and only 1 cup versus 2 included). Smoothie lovers will absolutely love this, but the powerful blades and versatility is great for any kitchen

I love this blender. We had a blender and a food processor on our counter taking up counter space. I was happy to see something that would allow me to get one of those items off the counter…or out of a cabinet. Granted you still have to cup to contend with. The blender does a great job and the presets work like a charm for frozen drinks and smoothies. Though I’m still working to find the good ingredients ratio for smoothies. I like that the screen displays the options available for the cup attached. I like how the blending blades can be removed for a thorough cleaning. I can’t say I’ve noticed much of a difference when using the vacuum pump. It’s also best to use it when the larger blend cup is closer to full, otherwise it seems to take quite a while to suck air out. I’ve stopped it a few times just because I wasn’t sure if/when it was going to stop. The food processor cup seems a bit small. If it were about 2-cups larger, that would seem best as my wife tends to use it to shred cabbage. Otherwise it does the job as I’d expect from a processor.

This blender was extremely easy to set up and use. It was good to go right out of the box. the first thing I tried was the personal 20oz blender cup, made an awesome spinach protein shake. the vacuum was very easy to use and the most noticeable aspect of this type of shake was the smooth texture. As far as the nutrient retention, I can't attest to that but the just the fact that it tastes better is good enough for me. The IQ feature is pretty neat too. The auto detection of the cannister being used and the options being shown to you encourages use. The next thing I tried was the blender and some homemade ice cream. It was very good and the consistency was smooth. I will research different recipe's other than the ninja website but the machine worked great. The next biggest bonus of the machine was the cleanup. The blades slide right out and make clean up a breeze. The cannisters square bottom design allow for easy reach for cleanup. I definitely recommend the machine and the display makes the kitchen look much more modern.

This is a great set, blender and processor! I really like the vacuum feature. It makes smoothies much richer and without the unnecessary foam. Flavor is enhanced! I did a couple of smoothies and they all came great tasting, however I don't know if I used it wrong or not, but the batteries were all dead once I wanted to do another a few days later. I think next time I will remove them, they seem to drain while in. I also wanted to try the chopping feature and I cut my finger while changing the blades! Be careful, they're extremely sharp! (good for food, not for fingers). I was able to chop some onions for a chip dip and they came out great. The automated function is great. With another blender I had to kind of pulse and calculate the time manually to make good smoothies, but with this one, just a push of a button of the IQ and you can make perfect smoothies, crushed ice etc!

Simply stellar product by Ninja! The vacuum power of removing the air from your smoothies, juices and shakes really does make a HUGE difference. In taste and longevity of the item in the fridge. I sometimes like to make my juices or smoothies the night before and removing the air is a great option. It's very easy to setup, use and clean. The attachments fit, remove and clean perfectly. The blending power is more than enough, even on those big, thick carrots. And with IQ, let the blender do the guess work of how much and when to blend. IQ very rarely gets the blending items stuck or doesn't chop, correctly. This is a must have device in this age of juicing, chopping, blending!

This thing is the best blender/puree kitchen appliance we have ever had in our house!!! It by far destroyed any of the other appliances that we have had of this type. The build quality is very solid not just the base part but the attachments as well. It has suction cups on the bottom to keep it in place which can be a bit of a blessing and a curse. They do a great job keeping the unit firmly in place on your counter but can be a but of a pain to get to release. If there was a pull tab of some sort to make them disattach from the counter top instead of using brute strength to move off the counter that would be a nice enhancement. Overall we are very happy with this addition to our kitchen and would highly recommend to anyone looking for this type of appliance.

**This blender bundle is identical to the other Ninja FreshVac but substitutes one of the drink containers for the food processing unit. I received both bundles and they are identical aside from this.** I have an older Ninja Ultima BL810, and while that has an slightly more powerful motor (1500w vs 1400w) it is little more than an on/off pulverizer when compared to this DUO w/Freshvac. Depending on which of the three included canisters/jars you attach to the base, the DUO will illuminate the options on the touchscreen panel. If a selection is grayed out it means you simply can't choose that for the canister you've installed. Swap it out for another and the base registers this change and presents you will whatever choices are available. Simple, easy, no guess work. Pros; - Options -- you can get any blender to blend with. This thing offers you options and makes it easy to go about achieving them, which is usually what keeps people from exploring new things; the guess work and lack of ease. (this is a semi double-edged sword, see "blades" in cons) - Strong motor -- while not as strong as other Ninja offerings (or other brands for that matter) it's plenty strong enough for 99.9% of what a household would plan on using this for - Interface -- the seamless touchscreen is not only sleek (when off it's completely blacked out for a nice stealthy appearance) but allows for zero-moisture to make it's way into any electronics. - Overall "Quality" -- the DUO feels nicely built. There's a solid feel to just about every component regardless of material you are touching. Everything has a nice notch, click, or slide to it. Cons; - Vacuum release on the jars -- you eventually (hopefully) remember to do this, but at first I forgot a handful of times. After a few times, though, it became muscle memory, so not *really* a big deal. - There's a few different blades which I've yet to really notice any difference given how much your contents are getting tossed around regardless of which canister/jar you're using. I get that depending on any number of variables that you may want something diced to a certain to degree more/less than in another application, hence offering multiple blades. But, I still don't know if it's necessary. To cap off the "cons" portion I'll add that prior to writing this review I noticed mine aligned with a few other reviews. Pretty much confirmed to me that, while being really insignificant to the overall performance of the blending, they were still worth mentioning again to point out to potential buyers that they aren't just one-off problems/issues. The only other thing I could even remotely add to it is "cleaning" -- but, until someone invents a blender that cleans itself (when they do, call me) that is something inherent to every. single. blender. on the market...unfortunately. All in all; an easy recommendation.

At one time blenders were only good at making milkshakes and soup puree. Now they can slice, dice and make delicious smoothies among many other things. The Ninja Smart Screen Kitchen System has control and finesse over the process that old blenders never had. FEATURES: - “Smart Vessel Recognition” sets the LCD display and options depending on which mixing apparatus is set on top of the motor base. - The Touch Screen display lets you select the automatic programs or operate the blender in manual mode. The bright LCD screen resists moisture and is easily wiped clean. - The 9 pre-set auto programs are calibrated with patterns of pulsing, pausing and various speeds to blend different things like dips, smoothies, juice, pizza dough, shakes and make ice-cream with just one button touch. - The package includes a vacuum system that can extract much of the air from the container before blending starts. This reduces foaming in finely chopped liquids like juice and also helps stop air currents flinging materials like herb leaves up under the lid during blending. - Comes with three difference blending containers; a 20 oz. smoothie travel drinking cup, a wide 40 oz. container for slicing items like cucumbers for salads or potatoes for frying into potato chips and a 72 oz. pitcher shaped container for mixing liquids. - Includes a 10 recipe “Inspiration Guide”. - 1-year limited warranty. PROS: - Attractive styling looks good on the counter. - Simple controls allow different repeatable degrees of chopping and blending. - Has a POWERFUL 1400-Peak-Watt motor base. CONS: - Has a LOUD 1400-Peak-Watt motor base. Unfortunately, it seems you can’t have one without the other. If you try to make a crushed ice smoothie to take to work in the morning and you’re up before everyone else, it will wake everyone in the house. CONCLUSION: I know from years of use that I am a person who will use a blender regularly. The Ninja Smart Screen Kitchen System blender is top notch and I get a lot of use out of it. It has earned the space it takes up on my kitchen counter. However, if you are not the type who uses a blender regularly, the great utility of this blender means it takes up a lot of counter space and storage under the counter as well. It’s overkill for chefs who only use a blender every few months.

The Ninja - Smart Screen Kitchen System with FreshVac is another awesome product from Ninja. They have been coming out with one great product after another recently. It has what they call FreshVac, which is a pump that pumps out the oxygen prior to blending your foods to give it better textures, colors and makes it last longer. I've tried it on several smoothies and I really notice the difference. The blender itself is powerful and I enjoy crushing ice in it with ease.

I thought the freshvac technology was just a gimmick, but it really does make an aesthetic difference and texture difference. For example, when making smoothies without using the fresh vac pump I would get a lot froth/air in the smoothie. This is what I have always expected from a smoothie, which is also what can make it hard to drink fast. Making the same smoothie and using the fresh vac I noticed my smoothie's colors were more vibrant and the smoothie itself wasn't as aerated/frothed making it easy to drink fast. The smart screen is clean looking and will only show the appropriate functions depending on what you insert into the base (blender jar, smoothie cup, food processor). Think of this as a modernization of Ninja's tried and true platform. If you want a good looking system at a reasonable price then this si the blender for you. Pros: Clean/minimal aesthetics Blender, smoothie, and food processor included Fresh vac came with batteries Saves counter space compared to having a blender, food processor, and a smoothie machine Cons The system gets tall when the blender jar is on Six batteries required to use the freshVac There is an optional power adapter for the freshvac that wasn't included. I would have preferred including the power adapter over including the batteries.
