The Ninja Woodfire grill is interesting when you think about; an electric outdoor grill. Well, I'm interested in what it brings to the table. It can be used to grill, to smoke meats, as an air fryer, to bake, to roast, to broil and to dehydrate. So far, I've only used it to grill and smoke, but I'm impressed. Once it's out of the box, you have to screw the handles on. That was pretty quick and simple. After cleaning the grate to use for the first time, it's ready to go. First, I used the grill to cook some pork chops. I added the wood pellets and fired it up. The pork chops were pretty thin so they cooked pretty quickly and were cooked well done with the timer. It's basically trial and error as I'm testing different meats right now. If you prefer settings less than well done, than adjust the heat settings. Next, I used the smoker to cook some thick ribs. The book said this process takes about an hour and it was correct. I will admit, the taste off the grill for both the pork chops and ribs didn't necessarily taste like it came from a grill, it did cook the meats very well. I will need to play with the grill more to get a better feel for it, but I like it so far. The grill doesn't come with a stand, but a stand is available and I would recommend having it for the grill.

Best machine ever. Does everything and more, easy to clean, easy to store and set up. We leave ours up,(get the cover)on a 24 x 40 card table and it works perfectly. This machine will make you chef of the neighborhood. Quick and easy meal cook, plenty of settings to cook and have fun with new recipes. I have a big commercial smoker, since we got this, I haven't thought about the other smoker. You can cook for 2,4 or 6 people on this at one time.

Impressive! I got this grill with the intent to take it in the camper on our travels, but I am using it in the back yard for now while I get comfortable with it. I’ve had it for 5 days now and we used it 4 of those days. Ninja quality is really top-notch, I also have a couple of Shark products that have been high performing and trouble free for more than 10 years. Packaging: The grill came very well packed, protected by Styrofoam all the way around the box. I prefer to see more eco-friendly packaging, but this is a heavy product that needs the sturdy Styrofoam for shipping. Assembly: The only assembly is attaching the side handles. They include a hex key just for that purpose, so I didn’t have to go hunting in the toolbox for the right size hex key. Build quality: This is well built, there are many nice touches on here that make it obvious that Ninja committed to making a top-quality grill and they’ve succeeded. The body of the unit is all steel and aluminum, very sturdy. The plastics used are very solid and appear to be heat resistant. The select knob has solid detents on each of the cooking settings, all other controls appear to be simple membrane switches which should work for quite a while without issue. Functionality: The controls are very simple, first you choose how you want to cook with the knob on the left, then the display offers the options that are pertinent to the cooking mode you’ve chosen like temperature and time. Hot dogs cook well on here, and you get the nice grill marks from the raised portions of the grill plate, I was even able to get them a little crispy on the outside without burning them, very nice. When I was reading the manual, I was looking at the charts in the back of the book that have cooking times and settings for different sample foods. I was curious about the section for cooking from frozen, so I grabbed pork chops for that. I put on 4 frozen chops with the “Robust” smoke pellets, and it had them ready in 15 minutes. They came out delicious and perfectly cooked. The smoke flavor was nice, and it made it feel a little less like I was cooking with a toaster oven and gave it more of a grilled flavor. Excellent. I also tried out the air-crisp function with some frozen chicken tenders and they came out perfect as well. One other thing that I found really impressive is how the interior of the grill has a rubber seal that close around the grill surface or basket. This is great because I was able to cook the pork chops while it was rather chilly outside with a fairly strong breeze; which would make using the gas grill troublesome as all the heat blows out of it and I have a hard time keeping the gas grill at temp. The Ninja is closed in, so it cooked exactly the same in the cold breeze as it did in the fairly warm evening the night before. The display is bright and easy to read. One cool thing it does is give you a progress bar while it’s pre-heating to give you an idea of how long it’s going to take to get up to temp. The smoke function has it’s own button and is clearly displayed when it is active. Smoking is a no-brainer as the grill takes care of it for you, my only concern with that is Ninja is rather adamant that we use only the Ninja brand pellets. I hope they are easily available for a long time to come. Cleaning: The grill tray is extremely non-stick, so easy to clean I was surprised. Since it is a grill and you might be cooking multiple different things in one session, it’s pretty great to be able to just wipe it off with a paper towel and switch to your next cooking task. The air fry basket is also strongly non-stick, not quite as slick as the grill plate, but still very good. Cleaning the interior of the grill is not quite so amazing, but it does clean up fairly easily so far in my experience. I used a marinade to finish the pork chops and that did bubble and splatter the interior of the grill, but I was able to clean it all out with a wet paper towel being careful not to cut myself on any of the metal bits in the lid. I’m very happy with this grill so far, and I look forward to putting it through it’s paces, I want to try all of the functionality, I’m going to try to bake a cake in it for my wife’s birthday. I’m so confident that this thing knows what it’s doing that I’m not even going to get a backup cake from the store. Overall, I think it’s worth the money and I think it’s going to delight anyone who jumps in and gets one!

I want to preface this review that I am currently recovering from surgery. Due to this, I was not able to use this grill and get my review in as soon as I'd have liked. I finally got around to unboxing and using the grill over this past weekend, so let's talk about it! I've been eyeballing this grill for a while and finally decided to give it a try. I love Ninja products, but a few of their things can be hit or miss. Thankfully, this one has been a hit, all the way, thus far. I will say that this grill is one of the hardest unboxings of any Ninja item I've had. It has a lot of sharp edges (until you get the side-handles attached) and is difficult to remove from the box. Once you get it out, as with all Ninja products, you satisfyingly remove all the tape and cardboard shipping protection. However, the instructions for installing the handles state to NOT remove the tape until you get the handles on. I really wish this would have been more forewarned because these handles single-handedly knocked a star off an otherwise PERFECT review. To attach the side handles, the instructions state to leave the tape on, tilt the grill backwards or place it upside down, so the grill lid doesn't open. Since I'd already taken the tape off during unboxing...I tried re-attaching it. Then, I flipped the grill to where I had access underneath. When I did, the tape popped off and the grill lid flew open. Naturally, in trying to catch it, my reflexes kicked in and I hurt my area of surgery...it bothered me for a few days afterwards. The grill is small, but it is pretty heavy. Anyway...it took about 45 minutes to an hour just to get 4 screws screwed in underneath the handles (two on each side)...this was absolutely ridiculous and should not have been anywhere near as hard. I could not get the screws in the handles to line up with the holes under the grill. I finally got mad, gave up, thew a comforter on the couch, sat the grill on it fully upside down and screwed the screws in with all of my arm strength, stripping them or not. Thankfully, I finally got them and they seem fine. But Ninja...if you're reading this, please make future models a little more easier to assemble something as simple as the handles. Otherwise, everything else with the grill was a great experience. I love that they give you two sample packs of the grill pellets...a pack of an "all-purpose" blend and a pack of a "robust" blend. The all-purpose is great for hamburgers, hamburger meat, chicken and such. The Robust blend seems to be more geared towards steaks, ribs and whatnot. I fixed 4 partial-Wagyu beef patties for hamburgers and used the All-Purpose blend pellets. They all turned out great and didn't even seem to shrink as much as I expected them to. Everyone enjoyed and complimented the burgers. Unfortunately, that is all that I was able to try on it for now - due to my surgery and it turning cold outside, I can't be out in the weather for too long at a time (sinus surgery). But, I do hope to be able to fix a few more things before Winter sets in, especially smoked ribs and some other pork! I do wish there would have been a built in meat thermometer, but I found out that there is actually another model that has this. Not too big of a deal, though - I have a digital thermometer that I use with an app on my phone, if needed. Sometimes, it better to have stuff like this separate, anyway - one less thing to break over time, lol. You can also get a grill stand and cover directly from Ninja, along with some other accessories. I may invest in those over the Wintertime, so I can really get this thing going in the Spring! Oh and I'll for sure be buying more pellets once I use these (each bag is good for 6 uses, not bad for samples!). Overall, I'd give this grill a 4/5 stars. Docking the one star for pain-in-the-butt assembly of the side handles - 4 screws should not be that problematic.... If you're looking for a great outdoor grill, look no further than this one!

    Excellent Outdoor Grill

This review is on a Ninja Woodfire Outdoor Grill. Build quality on this grill is solid. It doesn't feel like it will break. It is kind of heavy but still easy to move around. It has a very nice overall design too. My model only came with 2 bags of wood pellets, grill grate, crisper basket, smoke box, scoop and grease tray, The grill grate has an opening in the bottom where the grease will drain into a grease tray. The grease tray can be covered with tin foil for easy cleanup. It has 7 Cooking Functions (Grill, Smoker, Roast, Bake, Dehydrate, Air Crisp, and Broil). Upon opening the box the only thing you will need to do is unpack and screw the handles on. Now I'm no cook but it was kind of easy. The first thing it tells you is to turn it on hi for 20 minutes to cook out any residues before you cook anything. If you want to cook with woodfire flavors you use the provided scoop to fill a metal box that will then slide into the side of the grill. You are provided with two bags of wood chips. One is a Cherry Maple Oak blend and the other is Hickory Cherry Maple Oak. It appears they are compressed pieces of wood covered with something. I like the Hickory one best. It doesn't mention this in one document but you will need to press the woodfire flavor technology button first to allow time to ignite the wood pellets which takes a few minutes. Then select your cooking function, set time, temperature and press start. It will preheat and let you know when you can add your food. Easy. My favorite is smoked salmon and it turned out perfect. Did not dry it out and left a nice smokey crisp to the outer layer. Yum! I tried some vegetables at the same time but I over cooked them and were not very good so it doesn't take long for vegetables. Clean up was a snap. Allow time for it to cool. The grill grate is not heavy. Just a little soap and the grease just wipes right off. Will be using this a lot!

I own a traegor grill as well as this unit. This unit by far is better than traegor when it comes to smoking the food cooked in it. Everything I’ve made comes out perfect and tastes amazing! Steaks are better than some fine restaurants. The baked potatoes smoked and grilled are simply the best. You will not go wrong adding this to your outdoor bbq/grilling appliances. We love it!

I've had many Ninja brand kitchen items over time and have literally never been disappointed by any so far. Unboxing this Ninja Woodfire Grill, you can see and feel the build quality. From the appearance and use of brushed metals along with perfectly placed the digital display to the simplicity of setting everything up, this is definitely going to be a crowd pleaser! There is some small assembly out of the box but nothing that any normal person couldn't handle. One of the first things you see is this comes with two packets of smoking pellets, one packet of Robust blend and the other is an All-Purpose blend with enough for up to 3 cooking sessions of each. One thing I didn't like is that it says you can only use their pellets in the Woodfire Grill. With only two to choose from I'd really like to have a wide variety to choose from. Not really sure why you can only use theirs, upon looking at the pellets, they look like any other pellets I've seen from other manufacturers. I understand there's a difference between heating pellets and cooking pellets but it seems like you'd be able to use other brands of cooking pellets. It comes with a nice sized air fryer basket, the ribbed grill plate that is nonstick, a nice little grease trap for easy cleaning, to point out the pellet holder is also removable for easy cleaning. There a few accessories offered on Ninjas website just for this Woodfire and some I'll be ordering for sure like the Premium Woodfire Grill Cover which is only $20 bucks! Since this is an outdoors item in my opinion it's a must to preserve this beautiful piece of machinery! The other I liked was the Woodfire Flat Top Griddle Plate. They offer a collapsible grill stand specifically for this On the dial with this grill you have the options of Grill, Smoker, Air Crisp, Bake, Roast, Broil, and Dehydrate. It has easy buttons for temperature and time and power on. I have yet to use the smoker yet but it is what I'm most excited about using. I've been getting wings from this one place for a while now and the smoked wings are to die for so I'm going to get some pointers and try and replicate the flavor. The grill is excellent and cooks entirely while at the same time leaving my burgers nice and juicy. Would definitely recommend to others!

Temps higher than set and pellets go out

I received this as a birthday gift and have since used it several times. Immediately I noticed that the included pellets go out fairly quickly and I have a smoke basket mostly full of pellets when the cook is done. I suspect that the moisture from the meat is putting out the pellets. My thermal probe is reading the inside of the grill at 25-35 degrees higher than what i set it at, so my 225 low and slow actually hits 260. Combined with the lack of smoke, it defeats the purpose of this grill. I will exchange for a different unit in case i got a dud.
