But it's a bad trend to require amiibos for core game functionality. $25 is a lot to unlock extras/bonuses that would have normally been included for free.

Wonderful Quality

I'd seen pictures before, but I was still surprised at just how big the Metroid amiibo was! These two amiibo also unlock special content in the newest Metroid game, but I'm keeping mine sealed. I like the carboard backing of the packaging, the design adds a lot.

The last Metroid is in captivity

May be disappointing if you don't want another Samus figure since you cannot get the Metroid without it, but I think this figure looks better than Smash series Samus. Nintendo still blocks you from scanning your figures in a sealed box.

Nintendo ups its amiibo game

Not BOTW Guardian big, but definitely bigger than the base. And the "squishy" material used on the Metroid is really clever and adds that extra level of authenticity.

Great for collectors to simply display or get added value in some of their games. As a fan of the Metroid series, this set was a must buy when I saw it in the store.

I was hoping the Metroid would be squishy...

I was hoping the Metroid would have a squishy brain, but sadly it was fairly firm plastic (slightly flexible).
