Cute for kids/collectors; Not much other use yet

It can be used to unlock a more traditional game board in "amiibo party" mode but is by no means necessary to play and enjoy the game. However, if you have a child or collector friend that is a fan of Nintendo characters it makes a nice inexpensive gift.
