It's a good idea, but the nintendo eshop is rather pricey for digital content. Many times you can find the actual game for cheaper.

This takes less than a minute to process on your DS device and you immediately have the amount to spend in the eshop.

Wii Points are awesome! Great library of games and additional content to choose from. The virtual console selection is the best.
