Great movie!

Just like Chistianity, Satanism also has many branches and many different interpretations. This movie explores one of those branches. I've studied numorous religions including this one. Some of the interpretations of this vastly growing religion are not what people think, nor are they what was interpreted in the film. Like I said, this movie delves into just one of the many different practices of Satanism, and just one of it's many theoretical rituals as presented in many of the books on the subject written over 2,000+ years. In fact, this religion predates Christianity, (many people don't know that.) This is a very intriguing film that I recommend to anyone interested in films of the occult. Also, you should check out Crowley and Necronomicon.

Excellent psychological thriller!!!

As fans of Johnny Depp, I think this is among his best films. It has a great plot, loosely based on truth, that is very intriguing. (We have a cllection of such books, that's how we know.) Great acting, great storyline, I highly recommend it! Also, two other good Johnny Depp movies are Sleepy Hollow and Secret Window.

extreme disappointment
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I still dont understand how this movie was so bad. it seemed like it coud be great: Polanski, Depp, an inverted cross on the cover: but it was awful. i could compare this to a good made for tv movie. This seemed like a half hearted and ill-informed look at satanism. And im definetly not a satanist, but im certainly familiar with it, and this movie basically made a mockery of it. I could basically summarize this 3 hour movie as this: Depp walks around, finds a book, someone takes the book, then he gets it back, then someone takes it again, then he goes looking for it, then someone takes it again, but then he finds it again, someone lights themself on fire, then someone else takes the book, then an odd but hot girl comes and helps him find it again, then they find a really cheesy satanic cult, then the movie is over. and throughout all 3 hours of that was the most awful soundtrack. It really reminded me of Desperate Housewives.
