This is a Adult level scooter Minor fixable flaws
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So this is our second electric scooter, and this one is a BIG upgrade from the previous one. Let's start with unpacking and setup. I HIGHLY recommend you have a 2nd person help unpack and setup. I did this as one person, and it was just a pain. There is some weight to the scooter, and the packing material is not minor. So things can go a lot smoother if you have a 2nd person. Setup. Okay, after getting all the protective wrap off (becarefull not to scratch). Setting up the handle bar, may take a few minutes... 6 tiny screws. And you have to lineup the handle bar. They give you the proper Allen wrench, and the screws. Really simple and easy (don't forget to connect the wire before dropping the bar in place. Next the charger.. BIG charging block. Make sure you have the space for the block, and that you can reach an outlet, and the scooter out of the way. I don't really care for the fact that it is up front in the kick plate, little awkward. I also don't like that it isn't a USB or some sort of more common connector. You could easily use a USB-C on a newer high Amp charging block, to be more universal (and so you can replace the adapter easy if lost). but not the end of the world, just something to make note off. So let's get to the scooter a bit more... This is ROAD ready, with bright lights, break lights, turn signals... So you CAN go on the road, if your municipality allows it. Be Safe, wear a helmet and know the rules of the road if you do. Once you look at the scooter, you see the HIGH end breaks that are on this thing. They are not tiny, and there is a reason for it. out of the gate, the scooter is limited in its speed, about 10mph. Get used to the weight and handling of this scooter, before you go put it in sport mode. When you put it in sport mode, you are going to be able to move 25mph or more, depending not he size of the rider.. .at that speed, you can QUICKLY get hurt, if you are not safe and know what you are doing with he physics of this heavy scooter. Practice a lot on the slower speeds, and increase. But once you do... SOO much fun. We have yet been able to kill the battery, as we just can't take it too far yet.. most it has gone in one session is about 10 mi (back and forth). And the battery isn't even 50% discharged after that. This scooter, is going to college in the fall... It is a bit heavy, so make sure the rider knows how to fold and carry safely. So now lets get to where there are something that NEED to be fixed. And that is with the companion app. So default, it is in KM. It will take you a while to find where to change the Scooter AND the app to show it all in MPH (the APP display, is hidden deep in the User settings, not the scooter). That was SOO frustrating for the first 2-3 days. next, it has a great map to show you where you are, and where the scooter is.... BUT ONLY works if the scooter is in bluetooth range. Looking at the app, I was really thinking the scooter had beacon, like and AirTag, so we could keep track of it. No. I do like that I an LOCK the scooter ,from the app. Not sure if I trust that entirely to keep it from being stolen, will be investing in a good lock for it before it is off to College this summer. Last thing.. the "bell" cool addition, but it took a few tries to figure out how to work it properly. I like the analog of it.. .but also would have liked to see a digital/electric horn/bell as well.

Excellent Mid range scooter
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ive gotten into electric scooters as my hobby for a few years now. My current “Hyper” scooter is an Inmotion RS which is super fast, but of course super expensive. So Ive been on the search for something that has good speed and range with just the right features I need as a second scooter for shorter rides. As well as something a lot lighter, easier to fold, and something I can actually fit in my car. The RS weighs 137lbs and is a work in patience to load up. I was looking at the Niu Kqi3 Max for awhile, but then saw the new Kqi 300X and decided to give it a try. Its pretty much fully assembled out of the box with only minor set up. The first thing that I noticed was the unique build and design. I really like the frames design and the way the deck sweeps from front to back. Its so much easier to fold and get in and out of places. And the new dual fork suspension feels like its from a much higher end scooter. Id say that is the ongoing theme of the Niu. It seems like it should cost more. The dual disc brakes have plenty of stopping power too. The cockpit is very simple, but easy to read with just the stuff you need to know without overdoing it. The ride and speed also impressed me. Im a heavier rider at about 235 (250) with all my gear on and I was easily getting up to 23mph after the initial speed restriction is gone. It feels very smooth, absorbs most street bumps with ease, but even with the new suspension I wouldnt be going off road unless its a very tightly packed hard dirt path. When it comes to range it really doesnt do any good to say “I got X amount of miles”. Because there are so many factors that effect this. Weight, ride style, wind, your tires PSI, and more can greatly effect the range. 2 people that weigh exactly the same can have 2 completely different ranges just based on how they ride. Niu lists max range at 37 miles. That was most likely done with a very light rider, in ECO mode, with cruise on on a controlled test. But for me as long as I can get where I want to go, and be able to see my range is enough to get me back Im happy. I only go for one ride a day usually then it goes on the charger which can take up to 6 hours. The app is key to getting everything the Niu has to offer. It has options for naming your scooter, tracking stats, and a lot of settings to make it “yours”. Cruise, acceleration and electronic brake settings, and a lot more can be configured in the app. I personally prefer an app over built in “P Settings” mainly because its a whole lot easier to update an app with bug fixes or new features then to do a firmware update on the scooter itself. So I have gotten exactly what I was looking for. A second scooter that is fast enough, enough range to get a nice ride in, with all the features I need. As well as a very comfortable ride, and an awesome build. Great for beginners, commuters, or someone adding to their stable. Love it.
