I got Norton as a free item when buying my laptop. I can't stress how much I hate Norton. It does the job, but it's more adware then application. It bombs you with Norton products advertising, and it's so heavy for what is does. You don't get a compete package and practically begs you to buy more security from them. I can't even start up my laptop without some Norton crap being thrown at me. Do yourself a favor, look somewhere else for your computer security.

Norton) as the *ONLY* protection blocking 100% of attacks with lowest system impact of all vendors. Perhaps it’s time to update your opinion with this FREE 6-month trial? Thanks for your feedback. If you're interested in a third-party perspective on Defender, there's a helpful comparison video that puts both Norton and Defender through the same malware tests. It’s quite eye-opening: Norton successfully blocks all the threats, while Defender unfortunately doesn’t hold up as well. Hi JessicaB,
Thanks for sharing your experience—and I’m really sorry to hear your computer is still running slowly. We know how frustrating that can be.
Norton 360 is designed to protect your devices without getting in the way, but performance can vary depending on your PC’s specs and settings, and sometimes a few quick adjustments make a big difference. If you’re open to it, here are some steps that often resolve slowdowns:

Run a Smart Scan & Update Everything
Open Norton 360 → Security → Scans → Smart Scan. Also make sure Windows/macOS and Norton are fully up to date.

Check for Conflicts with Other Security Apps
Running more than one antivirus or firewall can cause heavy slowdowns. If there’s another AV installed, uninstall or turn it off.

      Adjust Scan & Background Settings

      Schedule full scans for off-hours.
Turn on Silent Mode during gaming or heavy tasks.
Temporarily turn off VPN when you’re on trusted networks to see if that improves speed.

      Reduce Startup Apps
On Windows: press Ctrl+Shift+Esc → Startup tab → disable non-essential apps. Fewer boot items = faster load times.

Free Up Space & Check Disk Health
Ensure at least 15–20% free disk space. On Windows, run Disk Cleanup and consider Storage Sense. SSDs benefit from firmware updates.

      Look for Resource Spikes
Use Task Manager (Windows) or Activity Monitor (Mac) to spot apps that use a lot of CPU or memory and close/adjust them.

If you’d like, we can help you step-by-step and tailor this to your device model—just let us know your operating system and any other security apps installed. Your peace of mind matters to us, and we want Norton 360 (and LifeLock) to feel protective, not intrusive. If you are still facing issues please do not hesitate to get in touch with our support team here www.norton.com/support

Stay away from this bloated, useless free subscription! Purchased a laptop and received this as an add-on. Since my Bitdefender was expiring around the same time, I decided to switch to Norton. Big mistake. Slowed my computer down siginificantly and didn't even remove issues that it found. Wste of time. I uninstalled and will be going back to Bitdefender. Very disappointed in Best Buy for pushing this garbage.
