Great coffee maker. Lives up to the name. Makes the coffee real hot which is what I like. Love that it does kcups. The first one was missing a few items and then I picked up another at the store and it was fine. The coffee tastes delicious. Love that it comes with a gold tone filter and kcup to make your own kcup

This seems decently made. I like the reservoir since it goes in solidly, easily, and STAYS in place. It seals well and there's no trepidation that it may not be placed properly or leak. The top functions easily enough, no issues opening the lid to get at the interior up there to do either pods or ground coffee. I like that the permanent filter was included, since us coffee heretics don't mind the lack of a real filter. The clock seems useless though. If there's no timer and no delay start there's no reason to include it. I can imagine everyone who really drinks coffee hates that they can't set it to brew it in the morning before they get up. For me though, I don't care. Simply would've preferred no clock, or additional functional data to display, like the percentage of progress, temperature of water coming out, anything that was useful. The clock for me serves no purpose. I didn't realize at first that I had to pull the grounds basket out to get the pod piece in the top - I thought that it nested maybe, until I couldn't get it to nest. That was my own ignorance. The dial control could have been more sensitive - spinning to change the time was annoying since it required SO MUCH movement to change a single number. Same when changing amount of coffee to brew, from 6, 8, or 10 ounces. It should change quicker. I had a few times where it was a pain to get from the middle 8 setting to the bottom 10 setting. Eventually got it, but it should be smoother and more precise. But again, once it's set for me, I won't be changing it. The only action that knob will see now is me pushing it to start the process. Physical fitting is spot on for everything, even the base the cup sits on if you do the pod and have the cup off of the heating plate on the plastic platform. I'm actually surprised with the preciseness of some of the plastic pieces like that, since they fit VERY well. This has a very low noise level, which I appreciate. And it is quite quick - even doing the full carafe was just a few minutes. Doing the pod was so fast that I can easily see myself using this regularly now, since it's just so convenient... I've had other combo units before but I never really used them, and ended up giving them away. This one seems to be better than the others by a good margin... Not the most expensive, but this one doesn't feel CHEAP. It actually seems like someone sat down and determined, "What parts have to move, how do they fit and lock into place? Lets make it work easily and smoothly." The notch on top for the baskets makes it brain dead simple to swap from one to the other, and the tab to grab to pull either out is a touch I'm grateful for, as it makes it easy to remove and insert using that piece of plastic. I see it won't keep a pot hot all day but I don't think that detracts since if someone really wants that, I think they'll be buying a different kind of coffee maker. This doesn't seem the one for those kind of people. Oddly enough it seems pretty well targeted to someone like me... So well done. I like it and this one I'll keep. I had a Moccamaster that cost three times as much as this that I used just a few times, since it was just too much trouble for the amount of coffee I drink. I gave that to a friend, and am much happier with this one. THIS will work well for me.

Sometimes you just want one cup of coffee just by dropping in a k-cup. Other times you may need an entire pot. Why have two different coffee makers when you can go from 6 ounces to 12 cups in one device. It is nice to have an all in one machine, but it is nearly like having two coffee makers when you take into consideration storing all the parts you aren’t using. Even the coffee scoop is left to get lost in your drawers somewhere as it could have easily been something you could snap to the side or top. The idea is solid, I like having options. It is fairly simple to switch between the standard brew filter and the k-cup single filter. It even includes a small reusable filter for the single cup usage. It’s just that the parts have to be swapped out like a multi-purpose food processor and the parts don’t have a way to stick together. Once you have installed the proper parts, the controls will light up for the appropriate brew style, but limiting you to either 6/8/10 oz or 6/9/12 cups. This just leaves it kind of odd for taller cups or requires you to double brew 6 oz, which requires resetting the brew cup to make it think it is a new cup. It is also odd as the majority of their recipes in the little booklet call for 3 oz of coffee but tells you at the beginning to just double the serving. The water reservoir will hold 12 cups and snaps off for easy fill, but is on the back of the coffee maker. It’s like it expects this to be out in the open or center of the counter. The water heats quickly and starts in a matter of seconds, but feels like it takes forever when brewing 12 cups. Overall, I really like the concept and the options, but feel like this needs to go back to the drawing board to be more convenient and accessible. Everyone doesn’t have an extra cabinet to store extra coffee maker parts when they are trying to consolidate things into one machine.

Easy to put together, but you will have to find a place to store whatever coffee receptacle (pod or carafe) that you aren’t currently using. Includes permanent filters for both pod and carafe brewing. And, unlike some other permanent filters I’ve used, they both do a good job of filtering out the grinds. Brew time for an 8oz mug was just over 2 minutes, with a coffee temperature of 160 degrees. Coffee had a good flavor, especially for a pod brewer. I think pod brewers sometimes make a weaker cup, which wasn’t the case here. Carafe keeps coffee temp around 170, and will keep it warm for about an hour. It also has a pause-and-serve feature, so you can sneak a cup while it’s still brewing. Couple of possible detractors to keep in mind: I think the selector dial feels cheap, especially for a $100+ coffee maker. It’s not horrible, but I just feel like it could be a little better quality, given the price. Includes a riser to put your coffee mug closer to the pod, which is supposed to cut down on coffee splatters, but I’m not sure how much it actually helps. There are still several splatters around the machine. It is a little tall, so it might not be well suited for placing directly under some cabinets. It fits under ours, but you can’t open the coffee receptacle very well, so we had to pull it part way from under the counter. It’s also not smart enough to know you don’t have enough water in the reservoir to brew a full cup. On one occasion, it brewed 1-2 ounces before signaling that it needed more water. My prior machine wouldn’t let you start a cycle if you didn’t have enough water. Overall, it’s a decent machine, and worth considering if you’re looking for a coffee maker that can handle pods, as well as brew a full 12 cup carafe.

    Really Nice Design

First off, this has a really nice design, kind of a Transformer of coffee makers. The only thing I wish is there was somewhere to store the unused filter/pod assemblies. I have no idea how they could do that, but it would be even slicker. First off, being able to "make" your own pod is a money saver. It is nice being able to make a single serving without having to go all in on pods. The reusable full size filter is another money saver. Not needing to use paper filters is good all around for the wallet and trees. The pods, if you like them, are a nice alternative also. I have avoided the pods in house until now. They are a nice convenience but using them daily can be quite expensive in the long run. Still cheaper than a coffee house with similar or better results. As far as how things turn out, everything I have tried tastes as good as what you would expect from a standalone pod machine. Even the home made pod. This is a really nice option to reduce counter clutter and smaller than some of the pod machines I have used and seen. Highly recommended.

Absolute garbage comparitively. Spews water, gives a frequent H2O error where it "doesnt read water level" (from blogs) ......a simple machine that cannot do a simple task.
