The motor is several times more powerful and makes short work of just about anything I put in it. There is even a pulse button for pulverizing harder foods.

It is loud but that's because of how powerful it is. I will say that you MUST tightly secure the screw on blade or it will leak. It requires using some strength. If you have arthritis or can't close lids tightly, based on my experience, this device won't be a good match.
