Worth every penny. Perfect for 3D course I’m taking. Plays cyberpunk perfectly in 4K. Pays for itself with mining. Amazing design with great cooling system. Skinnier but longer than my 2080.

    Top Level Graphics Card

I realize how incredibly lucky I am to have gotten this card, but this card is absolutely bonkers, especially for the price. This thing absolutely crushes 4k gaming and 3D rendering with no performance issues. You will be able to play all your games with RTX on and max graphics settings, and your renderings will be super quick. If I had any complaints, it would maybe be about coil whine, but that only happens under very heavy loads, and it may not happen for you. All in all, this card is worth getting if you either plan to game in 4k or do 3D rendering.

Though it took a month to successfully purchase the 3080, everything about it has been wonderful. I've had none of the issues that many first experienced when the card came out, and the performance has been a great step above my older 2070 (non super). The card has surprisingly capable cooling, and I've not noticed any sort of thermal throttling. I had overclocked it a bit, but reverted after seeing some artifacts, but the FE is still a beast in gaming. I personally run at 144hz 1440p and it's been a great experience, though my CPU is clearly lagging behind, especially with the release of Cyberpunk 2077, so hopefully I'll upgrade that soon to match this awesome card.

I want to preface this review with the information on how I finally got this GPU after 1 year of waiting. I actually got the GPU by buying in store with the notification from the fixitfixitfixit discord server. Now on to the review. After opening the GPU and installing it in my computer, it was pretty straight forward and painless to set it up in windows. I mainly use the GPU to play both fast-paced low-mid fidelity FPS and space sims like TitanFall2 and Elite Dangerous, and slow-paced high-fidelity FPS/TPS multiplayer and single player games like Star citizen and GTA V and many single player FPS games which I won't list here because the list is too long. Now the GPU rips through low-mid fidelity games at 1080p 144hz usually only utilizing 35%-45% of the GPU which means it possible to play 4k 144hz if you lower the settings a bit or using any of the AI performance scaling applications (DLSS/FSR). Now single player games I usually play at 4k 60hz but sometimes switch to my 1080 144hz monitor. Generally, I get full 4k 60fps max Graphics settings in semi old and newish games from 2010 - 2019. Most games from 2020 and on I can get 4k 60fps save for a few games with maxed out graphics which it doesn't quiet hit 60 fps unless I tone down the graphics a tiny bit. For star citizen, which I play regularly, I get about 30fps-40fps in city and 60-90 fps in space, which is a huge improvement over my AMD RX 480 4GB. Although I might be a bit CPU bottlenecked with my Ryzen 3600X. GTA V no matter what I do I multiplayer I can't go above 90 fps average in both 1080p and 4k. Sometimes some places I'll get 110 fps, some places I get only 65 FPS. I know it's because of how multiplayer works in GTA that it's bottlenecked at the server, but it's still a bit annoying cause I prefer higher refresh rates over higher res/fidelity for multiplayer games. Also, GTA V 4k Maxed out is extremely demanding and I only just barely get 55fps-60fps while my GPU is maxed out in utilization. I also play Minecraft with crazy shaders and resource packs but most shaders, which is a biproduct of how java and OpenGL work, are still not there with performance, but they look amazing anyways. All in all, I'm happy I made this purchase since I can now play any game with mostly maxed out graphics in the resolution and frame rate I want, save for a few buggy outliers.

While the fan placement looks odd, the founders edition cards of this generation have relatively good cooling compared to 10-series and earlier, where blower-style coolers were typical for the reference design. Memory temperatures leave something to be desired, but during games, they remain well below Micron's recommended safe temperatures for GDDR6X. Performance is excellent for all sorts of 2560x1440 games at 144 FPS. (I mean, you can look up benchmarks all you want.) As a product review, I give it 5 stars. However, obtaining this card at the advertised price of $699.99+tax took several months.

I wanted to wait a week or so before writing a review, and I must warn everyone wanting this card, that the coil whine IS a thing, but good news is that it does go away after about a week or 2 of gaming on it. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and was totally worth the 2 month wait after launch and upgrade from my 970 from 6 years ago. On a final note, PLEASE and I'm begging you, have enough front case fans in your system. It will throttle the GPU because not enough cool air is being pulled in from the front. This GPU is powerful, but you also need to actually put thought into the product if you want to use it to it's full advantage.

The Nvidia RTX 3080 FE, just like all 30 series Founders cards is a piece of art as much as its a GPU. The whole card shroud being a passive cooling heatsink finstack is brilliant, looks awesome and performs amazing! The thermal performance far exceeds that of any prior generation of Founders cards, and is on par with or better then almost all the aftermarket partners. This GPU is slotted as the ‘best value’ of current 30 series GPU’s, and the fact that since this is a FE and Nvidia can stick to MSRP makes it even better then the partner cards often priced much more expensive. The ONLY negative of this card would be moving forward how it ages down the road...if the VRAM is enough for the demands of future games. Outside the GTX 1080Ti, AMD GPU’s have aged better then nvidia because of their willingness to overdo the VRAM on their cards. Of course the GPU core on Nvidia is almost always superior, but VRAM has been an issue over time. Overall, i strongly recommend this card to anyone who can get their hands on one. Supply is a major issue as well, so if you have the chance to grab one just save yourself the misery and do it. You wont regret it! And I will say BestBuy is BY FAR the best retailer at fending off the bots. I have been able to score a 3090FE and 3080FE on here thanks to BestBuy’s verification at checkout(though the location for pickup has been an issue, its still better then anyone else is currently doing). Best of luck, grab this you wont regret it!

The 3080 Unicorn! This review is not based upon availability, which was quite the nightmare. After weeks of searching, at last - the RTX 3080 Founder’s Edition! I am so incredibly impressed with Nvidia with the value that this card provides. This card works excellently alongside an Intel i9-9900k CPU for some seriously smooth 1440p 144Hz gaming. The aesthetics of this graphics card are second to none, and the added white LED lighting is fantastic. It fit wonderfully in my NZXT H510 case, and I am hoping to use a special Seasonic 12-pin power cable to make it look even nicer.

Coming from an AMD Radeon VII, this card is night and day in terms of quality of drivers, how quiet the card runs, and overall temps. I'm running everything I own at max settings with frames uncapped and this card chews through it all. 10/10 worth the money.

Great card! I had to pursue this card for three months before being able to buy it at Best Buy. I was able to check out only in the tenth attempt. So, all can say is that it was all worth it. For me, this card is in the sweetest spot regarding performance/price among the Ampere cards. In fact, this card is so good that I don't see any need to overclock it. Instead, it would make perfect sense to undervolt it to improve the thermals while sacrificing almost nothing of performance. I don't think one can say the same of most GPUs out there.

Coming from a GTX 1080 this card is the best. I don't do high fidelity flat screen gaming all that much anymore. My monitors are still 1080p. But what I do use it for is Virtual Reality. And let me tell you this card out preforms in every aspect. I have next to zero dips in FPS, I'm also using the valve index so I also bump it up to the 144hz mode and it still performa well without any hitches. Best buy did do a decent job in getting this card in the hands of actual consumers. If you didn't get one just keep trying. I'm sure you'll get one. Just be persistent.

Amazing card, amazing build quality as well. Did in-store pick-up with Best Buy and it arrived a day later than expected, but luckily Best Buy came through! Received the Call of Duty: Cold War game with it and played it right after installing the card; wow! Playing on a 3440x1440p UltraWide the campaign was incredible. Playing on Ultra/High everything, the card rarely dipped under 144 fps (144hz monitor). Cannot wait for Cyberpunk + this card!

Looks great, feels great, runs well and acts as a great heater for my room whenever it's chilly. Getting (almost) the same power outa this thing as non FE edition cards for hundreds of dollars less is amazing. Sure, a strix will allow you to get more out of this thing, but for more than 150% of the price?? nah. And thats assuming you can actually get it at MSRP. Plus, I barely could fit the FE in my case, no way something bigger like a strix would have made it. all in all, this thing surely beats my old 1050ti, that's for sure.

This is definitely the best all-around card out there right now that can still comfortably fit in an ITX case. Whether you stream, play in 4K 60 FPS, 1440p 240hz, or just really intensely browse Reddit, this is the card that can do it all at this price. It's crazy to think that this is still selling for MSRP on Best Buy for the value you get from it. I don't have any tips on how to purchase one.. I was extremely lucky. Good luck and I hope you don't get stuck in a Verify loop.
