Great card for 1440p Monitors and 4k TVs

Right off the bat, great card. Read Dead 2 max settings at 60FPS on a 4k TV. At 1080p everything is super CPU bottlenecked which is not the cards fault, just my experience. If you are at 1080p and don't see yourself upgrading just go for a 3060ti. It's a great card too. I had one and upgraded because I couldn't get another for my friend. 3070 isn't worth the extra 100 dollars at 1080p. Also, make sure your case has good airflow because it runs HOT. I've seen it hit 75 degrees and I have good airflow in my case. I only knock it one star because it has very bad coil whine, loud fans and the dongle is just ridiculous. With headphones on I can't hear it, so I don't mind but other people might. I have two 140mm Noctua fans as an intake, a 120mm exhaust and a top mounted 240 AIO with 2 120mm fans for exhaust. With all those running at pretty aggressive curves while in games, I can't hear the 3080. But, pumping the 3080 fans up to 70 percent in MSI Afterburner, it's very loud. So, if you don't have a lot of fans in your case or just have a quiet build, you'll hear this thing if it gets too hot. Moving on, the twelve pin really should have been on the other side of the PCB. The dongle is ugly and really ruins the really nice design of the card. I assume that as the 12 pin becomes more common there will be more aftermarket support for it, but it's just annoying right now. Yes, these are hard to get months after it launched, but that shouldn't reflect the review of the card.

Picked it up at MSRP $699+tax. Totally worth it although it all depends what resolution you are gaming on and what kind of games you play. I tend to play games on maxed out graphics (except raytracing on some games) with 1440p resolution. I upgraded from the 2070 super, which is not a bad card either. I sold it for a very good price and basically spent very little to upgrade to this card.

Powerful, small in size and can run 4k games. I play on a 2k monitor, and the lowest fps I've seen in any of the games I play is 140fps. It does everything I need and is a much better price than other 3080 options. The fan is quiet until it's cranked up to and over 65% Cons: Like all 3000 cards it uses a lot of power and produces a lot of heat.

It absolutely destroys any games I throw at it. I have a 1440p 165hz monitor and i can always put games at max quality and get well above 60fps all while it stay quiet and cool only reaching 85 degrees Celsius when under heavy stress for long periods of time. I only have good things to say with zero cons so far after a year of use.

It took lots of work to obtain one of these cards, and honestly, it was worth the effort. My two previous cards were a 2080 (which was sold as part of a full system) and a 2070 super to fill the gap while I waited to get a 3080. These two previous cards were both great performing GPUs (they performed very similarly at 1440p, with the 2080 being slightly better), but the 3080 is on a whole new level. Latency in first person shooters somehow feels greatly reduced here, in addition to the 30ish+ percent bump on frames I'm seeing, depending on the game. Aesthetically, this is the best looking card that's ever been designed, and it's even better looking in person. It frankly makes every AIB design, as well as the new AMD 6000 series cards, look amateur and kiddish. Simply put, it's a huge jump forward in founders edition design from Nvidia. The only major drawback is the 12 pin adapter is an utter eyesore. But at least they included the adapter. I thought the pass through cooling design would be a huge evolution in cooling efficiency, but this turns out to be the biggest drawback of this card. Cooling performance is underwhelming, and in my case, I was routinely touching 80 degrees C on the stock fan curve. For comparison sake, the EVGA 2070 Super XC Ultra barely cracked 70 degrees. This can be fixed with a fan curve adjustment, but it's a fine balance between spinning the fans faster to cool the card more, while avoiding excess noise and avoiding drawing power from the card to allow it to boost frequency clocks. Overall, this card is everything it was hyped up to be. It performs phenomenally and looks amazing, but I had to dock a star for the relatively mediocre cooling performance.

I mean do I really even need to say anything? By far the best looking card out of all the 3080s. 2 fan blower design ensures my temps never go above 75C with stock fan curve. When I adjust the fan curve I can get temps down to 68C max (just by increasing fan % by 5%). You all know how great the benchmarks are on this thing. Coming from a 1070 to this is just indescribable. Hands down best purchase I made plus free COD! Also the cards fans won’t spin when your just on desktop internet browsing and doing light work. I had a 3080 w triple design fan and sold it to a buddy. That thing sounded like a jet engine. The 2 fan blower style is quiet even under max load. Only thing I’d say is because of the blower design your IO port where you connect hdmi/display port will get scolding hot so make sure you have quality cables. Also the 12 pin adapter is ugly but idc I’ll just get a 3rd party one from Corsair (psu I own) or from cablemod (release date December). If you have seasonic they’ll give you their adapter for free. I really love the design and minimalistic look. If you download Evga x1 you can change the rgb light on the “X” part of the card

    Overclocking beast

Was lucky enough to nab this from Best Buy just before Christmas. I LOVE the design, so I had to try to smile through the tears when I took it apart to put a waterblock on it. The PCB on this thing is so tiny! I was worried it would look comically small in my large case, but this card with a waterblock vertically mounted gives the rest of your build a chance to shine cosmetically as well. I can’t comment on stock thermals, but I can say that this card overclocks like a beast when you give it thermal headroom. At stock settings, this GPU was in the top 50% on 3DMark’s Timespy benchmark as compared to other 3080s tested (in other words, perfectly average). After toying around in Afterburner with overclocking, I was able to get this card in the top 5% of all 3080s tested in Timespy. I could probably push further, but this is good enough for me! Even with the aggressive overclock, temps never exceed 52c. This is in a custom loop, mind you. Some people get even lower temps than that but I’m running my PC in a hotter than average room. Coil whine? I’ve owned a 1070 and 2080 Super. They both had some level of coil whine. This card, however, has no noticeable whine. I may have just gotten lucky, but this is the quietest card I’ve ever owned in that regard. As far as power, I game at 1440p and 144hz. This card is noticeably better than my previous 2080 Super. It is able to consistently get higher FPS, with fewer hitchy dips. I do believe that my CPU is holding it back in some scenarios (3700x) but probably not all that much at 1440p. At any rate, I do plan to pair this with a 5900x assuming the silicon gods bless me with a little more luck. Bear in mind that though you can run this configuration fine with a 750 watt PSU, you may want to go 850 watt if you have a lot of other components (fans, hard-drives, pumps) AND you want to toy around with aggressive overclocking. My only potential complaint is the somewhat lower-than-ideal VRAM capacity. This is a point of controversy. I would have liked to see 12 GBs at this price point in case I decide to upgrade to 4K. 10 GBs will likely be all a 4K-gamer needs for the next couple years, but I would have liked a little more wiggle room. That said, GDDR6x is lightning fast, and NVIDIA is working on Direct Storage technology (RTX I/O) that should allow games to cycle data in and out of VRAM much much faster (assuming you have a PCIE 4 compatible motherboard and storage). With GPUs directly accessing game files instead of having to go through the CPU and system RAM, buffers can be much smaller and more efficient. Also, RTX DLSS also allows your GPU to render at a lower resolution and upscale it using machine learning. This not only leads to much higher frame rates at near identical fidelity to a native render, it will also make high VRAM needs less likely. The other point to keep in mind on this is that there is often a big difference between VRAM utilization and VRAM allocation. Most monitoring tools show you what a game has requested. In most cases, it’s just space reserved, it’s not reflective of space that’s actively being used. For example, in AC Valhalla, for me, the reported VRAM utilization was 7.5 GBs after an hour of gameplay. But a closer look at allocation showed that the game was only actively using about 6 GBs of that requested space. So because the VRAM is exceptionally fast, the fact that NVIDIA is rolling out technology that will put less critical emphasis on VRAM capacity, and the reality that most games use much less VRAM than reported in monitors, I do think the 3080 will be a relevant card for high end gaming for at least 3 years. By the time VRAM capacity becomes an issue for this card, the architecture won’t have the horsepower to render those textures in future games in a performant way anyway. All of this is to say that if you’re considering buying a 3090 purely for gaming just because it has more VRAM, it’s simply not worth it. Great card, highly recommend.

I love this graphics card! Just upgraded from my 2080 Super (which is paired with a 9700K) and I'm getting 100+ FPS in Call of Duty: Cold War with all settings maxed, including ray-tracing. I also don't have DLSS enabled, as I think it makes the picture too fuzzy. NVIDIA recommends you have a 750 Watt PSU with this card, but with my 650 Watt PSU I am never pulling more than 500 Watts with this system under load. I wouldn't pair it with a weaker PSU, though. I wish I had been able to get one of these closer to launch so that I could benefit from the free copy of "Cold War," but it'll be a nice giveaway for a friend or a stranger on Reddit. Get this card if you can, especially now that all of the other models are going for more than MSRP. The Founders Edition is the most economical and best-looking 3080 right now!

My current system is a 3080, Ryzen 7 3700x, and Trident Z Neo 32GB of 3600MHz RAM. I upgraded from a 2070 Super, and the jump in performance was massive at 1440p. I just got a LG 27GN950-B Monitor this week to play games in 4K. This card is getting pushed playing games in 4K ultra, and made me realize I'll probably want to upgrade my CPU as well now. Very impressed with what I've seen though, and I would say to get the most out of it to either get yourself a 4k or a 240hz 1440p monitor. I had just a little bit of coil whine at first, but I'm not noticing it anymore. Also, for those who aren't aware the top of the card has a little bit of RGB on the the fan side, and I've been able to change it in EVGA Precision Software. The FE is definitely the best value at the moment with the tax increase impacting the other cards. A little bit of purchasing advice but it seems like Best Buy has been releasing these cards every two-three weeks, and it's always between 10:00-11:00 AM CT.

So after months of getting in the cart, then having no stores available for pick up. I was lucky enough to have this piece of machinery for myself. I have 2 machines, the other one has a suprim x, which is quieter. But not worth the additional cost compared to the fe model. In actual gaming without a frame counter. There is virtually no noticable difference in 1440p and 4k performance. If all you care about is performance. This is hands down the best value 3080 out there. Stay positive and one day you'll get the best bang for your buck card there is.

I got this card on the best buy drop for total tech only members and all I have to say is: Best Card ever. It runs like a a dream and the best buy team were fantastic helping me install it while I was at work. The only problem I would say is that it has a little bit of coil whine when it is running intensive programs but I read that this is normal with this type of cards and that it will eventually go away the more I "break it in". so far the noise has reduced from how it was when I initially got it. So far I am incredibly happy with my purchase and am enjoying gaming at 1440p with over 100 fps in select games. Would totally recommend it, it is the best bang for your buck in the GPU sphere.

I will be pretty short here, as there is a TON of information already out there for it, and I will avoid stating the obvious (scalpers and spending too much, blah blah blah)... Purchased at 799$ MSRP is an absolute steal for the performance of this card, unless you already have a 2080TI, in which case I would advise you to skip out this gen. Here are some notes/considerations for you: -It performs as advertised. paired with a 4K monitor, I have only found 1 game that doesn't consistently exceed 60FPS and that is Microsoft Flight Simulator. Having said that, its pretty pointless to use that product above 60, and it more than playable even at 40FPS..Besides, I average mid 50's (solid 60FPS when outside big cities) with nearly all 4k settings maxed across the board. -I woudnt worry too much about it only having 10GB of VRAM. The GDDR6X is so much faster than regular GDDR6 that I genuinely dont think it will be an issue for years to come. Even MSFS was only using 6GB in 4k at most in my tests. -The Power Connector.. The GPU comes with a 2 node adapter as most of us don't have the connector required for this card. you MUST plug the split into 2 separate cables from the PSU, DO NOT daisy chain it... A single cable on most power supplies isn't designed to pump the amount of juice this card needs on a single cable, and you risk your card underperforming at best, and burning down your house at worst, with a fried PC somewhere in-between... -Final consideration.... There has been a LOT of talk about heat... Here's a simple way to look at it. This GPU automatically boosts the clock speed when needed, until it reaches 78 Celsius.. If your case setup cant maintain this card at that temperature, it will cut down the boost, and may get a little jittery in the process... I would make sure that you are feeding it with as much fresh air as possible. If you have a front mounted radiator for CPU cooling, I would suggest maybe moving it to the top and adding in flow fans in the front, so that the GPU isnt eating radiator exhaust. I had this mentioned setup, and ended up being ok after I pumped up the fan curves on my radiator. If you have a small case without good airflow, I don't know what to tell you, but good luck!

Been trying to get one since September and didn't think it would take this long. Got lucky and finally got the last piece to finally build my first gaming rig in years. Been console gaming for the last decade. The performance of this card is great, can run most games maxed out in 1440p with raytracing and with dlss support. Main reason I wanted a 3080 was for cyberpunk 2077 as well. The price of founder edition not increasing compared to other 3080s was also a bonus. Pc components has gone up with price hikes and tariffs. 2020/21 isn't the best time to build a pc or get new tech. If you can get one, you will love it. I almost gave up trying to finish my build but best buy came thru. Good luck to the rest of yall trying to get one!
