Customers are saying

Customers are delighted by the GeForce RTX 3090's outstanding performance and excellent GPU, with many praising its efficient cooling and solid build quality. However, some users find the card's high price and large size to be drawbacks. A few also reported experiencing coil whine and noted its high power consumption and substantial weight.

This card is a beast. It runs everything that I throw at it and it still stays under 65° C under load with no custom fan curve or anything!

Cheapest 3090 on the market and a beast but you may have to redo the paste and pads. Large and heavy needs a big case

The card itself is fantastic, it has a good noise profile considering the power the card uses, the performance is great and the build quality is up there. The price, however, is more than double the 3080FE for only 10% more performance. Otherwise, I would give this a 5/5.

So, I'll say that this is an excellent GPU, but it is definitely overpriced for its performance. I knew that going in, but at the same time this was the only GPU I could actually get an order placed for. I tried to get the RTX 3080 FE and a couple of AIB RTX 3080s numerous times, but every time I got the all too familiar "out of stock" message when I was just about to check out. All of that said, the RTX 3090 has only a small percent (around 8% to 13%) performance boost over the RTX 3080, but the RTX 3090 is double the price. If you need to stick to a tight budget, you're not missing out by going with a 3080 over a 3090. It is a big GPU, so I actually got a GPU graphics holder to rest the end of the GPU on. Not the most aesthetically pleasing thing in my PC, but it prevents any sag due to the sheer weight of the RTX 3090. Of course, and I feel like it shouldn't have to be said, definitely take the RTX 3090 (or any GPU really) out of the PC if you plan to transport it anywhere. Bouncing and jostling can cause damage to the GPU or your motherboard. Back to performance of the 3090 specifically, though, paired with my i9-10900K, 32GB of 3600Mhz RAM, and great air and liquid cooling in my PC, it can perform very well on 1440p. Everything can be run at ultra and at least get 100 fps (worst case scenario being Cyberpunk 2077, but that's another story of poor optimization and buggy-ness on CD Projekt Red's part). I have a 4K, 60Hz monitor, but I don't really play anything on it since I have a 1440p, 144Hz monitor. You definitely could play games in 4K and do it well, but I don't think you would be able to play everything 4K, 120+ fps, ultra. You would have to bring down some graphics settings to get 100+ fps at 4K. One other small note, I would even say that the RTX 3090 is more for research and academics than gaming. Computer science/artificial intelligence researchers and professors would be the ones to really go for the RTX 3090 specifically, and maybe even run SLI with two 3090s. So, if *that* is what you're buying the RTX 3090 for, then I would say the "Value" is probably excellent, for gaming it's just "Good".

A stunning GPU, and insanely powerful. Also very quite given how large it is. Only downside is it requires two separate PCIe cables.

Poor thermals; otherwise, great performance. The card's a bit expensive, and for gaming the price/performance ratio isn't there, but when the cost of a 3080 or even a 3080 Ti approaches the $1500 mark this card sits at, it's worth picking up for MSRP.

Very heavy card, so make sure you have GPU support. Performance is to be expected as long as you don’t have any CPU bottlenecks.

This is not the greatest value proposition for a GPU, that much is clear. However, the RTX 3090 FE is absolutely the best value among the many different models of RTX 3090s. With the recent hike in tariffs, competing cards are going for 1800-2000 dollars with little to no performance gains over the founders edition. NVidia have also promised to provide VBios updates to implement resizable bar technology for Ryzen 5000 series support to all the founders edition cards.
