The AI upscaling is amazing. That alone is worth upgrading to this version. Much better remote than previous version too.

Meh... Prone to freezing and remote is annoying

The upscaling is as most people say pretty nice. Tends to freeze for 5, 10, more seconds when using voice search or in some Apps. HBO Max I've noticed is more frequent than others, but not exclusively. Also significantly slower than the built in apps on my 2020 model Sony TV. The Shield is several years old at this point -- so I guess not entirely surprising but for the price I suppose it should be refreshed yearly or at worst every 2 - or lower the dang price after 2 or 3 years! If you don't care about the upscaling look everywhere but here. (Well the new Chromecast is garbage also, if surround sound interests you, but I digress.) Unsure why the rave reviews over the remote. I mean it's generally fine but the Netflix button is annoying as all get out. For the price there need not be advertising buttons at all, but it is flat with the remote (all other buttons are raised) and for me at least is exactly where the bottom of my thumb rests when poised over PLAY. As such when I move my finger to play I often inadvertently end up opening Netflix, ditto for moving down to rewind. It IS backlit but should be able to locate and use the FEW buttons without worrying about it.

Very impressive streaming solution. It's definitely on the pricey side but the capabilities of this unit are insane.

I like it.. user friendly and fluid to use.. it's fast and I don't find any issues with. It's replaced my 3 year old fire tv which was getting so slow and unusable. Honestly I don't like fire tv UI. It sucks. I own a Nvidia shield older version too.. if you can find it for cheap that's still a champion. Its running on my other tv like a king I don't find any other difference than the DTS support in this new version. If you want a cheap option go for the older model of Nvidia shield. It won't suck like fire tv

    Best streaming device hands down

NVIDIA Shield's are the hands down best streaming platforms. I have multiple Shield's, from multiple generations and decided to get the current "lite" version. It doesn't have the local storage of its big brothers, but it does not disappoint. You can load most anything on there, and more if you are a little crafty, play games, and much much more. If you have any desire to stream on you TV and do more, spend the extra cash and get one of the NVIDIA Shield devices.

Even having Android TV on my Sony 950G, shield tv is still my go to. AI upscaling, interface and audio processing are better.

The nvidia shield is great when it works. I occasionally would have to reboot the system because a specific movie on disney plus would load. Or hbo max would just not load at all. But after it reboots, works perfectly. I prefer this remote to my current apple tv 4k. Bht maybe im just use to the shields remote. I did exchange it for the apple tv 4k. Since i couldnt stand having to wait for a reboot

I've had many different streaming devices over the years, and I must say that the new Nvidia Shield TV is the best streamer. It's very responsive, provides full access to apps in the Play Store, the weird looking remote is AMAZING, and solidly built! I like the cylindrical shape of the Shield TV. I put some Velcro on it, and attached it to the rear of my TV - brilliant! I've purchased a couple of these streaming boxes and I highly recommend them.

I have used many of the streaming devices that are available, so I decided to try this one, based on the reviews that I read online. The box that it is delivered in contains the device, a power cord and a remote: you will have to furnish your own HDMI cable, which should be high-speed in order for the device to work efficiently. The batteries are already installed in the remote. Setup is straightforward, although somewhat different than a Roku or Fire TV. The first thing that should be done, after connecting to a WiFi network (or Ethernet cable) is to install any pending firmware updates, for both the device and the remote. After that, it is easy to go to the settings menu to configure the unit as you wish, and then download the apps that you want. Netflix is preloaded, but others can be found in the Google Store. Overall, a fine device that is very enjoyable to use, with excellent video and audio performance.

This does everything you would want in a streaming device. Supports all the surround sound modes you would want to send to your amplifier, or functions as a good update for an old non-smart TV. Remote is very good, can be used as a sole remote for some set-ups. Pairing bluetooth controllers is easy and the Shield gaming feature is cool. Only down-side is Plex performance playing back uncompressed 4K video. Some stutters should be expected.

Powerful even though it is the size and shape of a toilet paper tube. Own the prior generation of Shield and this is worth the upgrade for the AI upscaling and the IR remote that is also a universal IR remote. Works great for Sonos Playbar, which does not utilize Audio Return Channel and instead prefers IR volume control. Overall a great product with a lot of power. Works on 220V and can act as a Plex server, run Surfshark VPN, and handle other resource intensive apps.
