I love everything about the Nvidia shield. No lag like I had with fire TV stick. Triangular remote is really comfortable in hand. IR programmable for TV control. Google assistant works great. Only thing I have not tried are the games. Only con is every so often, I have to go back out of Netflix cause there is some audio delay which is why I'm giving this 4 stars.

I bought this gadget because I wanted to leverage the power of an Android TV without actually selling my Samsung Smart TV - which is great already - to buy another from other brand. I'd end up loosing money. This thing was extremely easy to install and operate. The remote control works perfectly, letting me control the TV with it. I don't need to keep both remotes handy, which is great.

I have a Sheild and I tried this out. First, its performance is on par with the previous console version. I hated the old remote with it's touchy volume contol but I may hate this one more. Tiny buttons and a Netflix button that needs to be remapped or disabled. I have activated it 5 times in a week! It may get easier once I memorize the buttons but I don't like the layout. My biggest issue is the form factor. Cords on both ends? No base? It is big and ugly and if you once you attach the HDMI cable and Cat 5 cable this thing is way longer and thicker than the Nvidia Shield Pro. Also who thought of the recessing the MicroSD slot so it takes tweezers to remove a card? Really for $150 this think is aesthetically terrible. Like I said it performs well. The AI upscaling really helps on SOME sources. It is lightning fast. Also on the negative end is many of the apps that make sideloading easy like Downloader and ES File Explorer are no longer in the Google Play store. You have to put the Apk's on a flash drive from a PC and then install them on the Shield. Really one of the big pluses the Shield had over the closed store on Amazon has been negated. Also no good browsers like Chrome, Firefox, or Opera. So if you know how to do this great but otherwise it is a steep learning curve.

Better Picture and Faster performance than Roku

To start I use streaming for my "TV Service" using u tube TV and the typical other services like Netflix, Prime, etc.. I have a 2017 LG 8 series TV and while the picture is good it is clear that the scaler built in to the TV was not great. One of the main selling points to the NVIDIA is the AI Scaler which basically brings the output to 4K HDR from the device so all the upscaling is done by the NVIDIA. Immediately the image on my screen was much smoother (LG had significant digital noise/grain) and the color had more pop. I would have been more than happy if that was the only difference but compared to my 2019 Roku Ultra the apps simply open much quicker and on my streaming TV service i never "catch" up to the end of my guide data. Also when i select a channel it changes as fast if not faster than the cable box I once had. Really pleased with this device. I would say the picture differences really will only be obvious on a couple year old 4K HDR set or entry level model where the video scaling is not the best. A high level brand TV today may not show as much if any improvement in picture.

I stream Youtube tv with this and Roku stick and this is far more superior. The speed and so much better The remote on the newer version is so much better then before, the only downside is the Netflix button is very sensitive. I must hit it 10 times a week and it can be a hassle getting back to Youtube app.

I had a Fire TV cube for a long time...decided to switch to the google works and bought this. I tried to use this with the home mini but it never worked. It’s supposed to... but just didn’t. That was a deal breaker for me. However if you will be using this as is, without a home mini, it’s the best! The interface is simple to navigate.. the upscaling is amazing and makes everything nice and crisp.

Been wanting one for a while and finally bit the bullet. Originally came in for the pro model but they didn’t have it so picked this one up and it’s been a good experience so far. Notice less lagging on my iptv streaming apps and I like the simplicity of it also it’s very snappy. Will recommend even if all you do is watch Netflix.

The picture quality is great and it is fast. AI up scaling improves the small details. The SHIELD TV cylindrical form factor fits nicely The only issue I have with this is the Netflix button on the remote is overly sensitive. The slightest touch could cause it to switch to Netflix,

AI-enhanced upscaling for 720p/1080p to 4K up to 30 FPS just amazing. Using it with Vava 4k UST projector. The color gama is amazing, a lot better thst fire stick and Apple tv 4k. I have both. Nvidia Shield is the best. https://youtu.be/K3Lj_Ua-lcc to view how AI-ENHANCED works.

I bought the tube version of the shield on sale and it is by far the most feature packed Media Streamer out there. The remote is fantastic and a huge upgrade to past Shield remotes. I mainly bought the new version for the 4K AI upscaling feature and it's mostly a mixed bag. I was hoping it would help with watching Twitch streams on my Vizio 4K TV, which has pretty bad 720p upscaling; and the Shield didn't really help much. It overshaprens the image, and instead of making text smoother and easier to read it makes hard to read text even harder to read by making it look like hieroglyphic pixel art. On my Sony 4K TV, which has OK upscaling but the processing required takes away from other intensive picture enhancing features, the shield takes care of the heavy lifting with the 4K upscaling, and the Sony then treats the image as a native signal, and the resulting picture looks pretty nice. I've also tested some Sega Saturn Emulation, but I wasn't very impressed with the framerate. I didn't mess with the settings, so there might be some untapped potential there. But being able to use basically any controller to play Saturn games was pretty neat.

This is an awesome product for any home. I have both the old and new NVIDIA Shield TVs, and I much prefer the 2019 version. Pros: - Regular software updates - AI up-scaling - Easy remote with re-programmable buttons - Stream games via steam or other services Cons: - Can be slow to start up if left in sleep mode for a whil - Small internal storage

Miss the light on the unit. Really can’t tell the difference in speed. Remote is way better. Since they are out of the pro version I bought this one. Is the pro was in stock I would return the dongle in a second. Price point is to high for 1/2 Hard drive and ram. But it is a shield best streaming device. But once pro back in stock I would $ extra for the pro.

I had tried the Amazon Firestick and an Android TV box. The Firestick had buffering issues. I'm using a 300 mbps internet with a Netgear Nighthawk 3200 router. I have full coverage throughout my house so no buffering should occur. My Android TV box worked well but had an awkward interface. I bought my Nvidia Shield hooked it up in about 10 minutes. I like the design and interface. It has a speedy processor and excellent remote interaction with the device. My Android box was very bad remote interaction. It had to be pointed directly at the box and still was awkward. The only Con I'd have on this device is the Netflix button. It's at the bottom of the remote and it's easy to hit. I own 2 of these devices , the Pro and regular shield and will be purchasing a 3rd for another room.

I have a Samsung Q90 and the Nvidia TV Shield streams to it flawlessly. I've used this fairly heavily and have not encountered any issues. There are no ads on the home menu. Any app that Google offers you can download. Switching between apps is quick. Kind of expensive, but you get what you pay for.

My living room TV has Android TV built in, and I hated it. Turns out that it was just the manufacturer's implementation of it that I hated, because when I got frustrated with just having a Chromecast on my bedroom TV that has no "smart" features whatsoever, I turned to the NVIDIA SHIELD to provide me with the streaming capabilities I was hoping to have in my bedroom. Installing the SHIELD is dead simple, even if you use a receiver as a pass through. Installing apps is handled like any other app store. The SHIELD has all the streaming apps I use, like Netflix, Hulu, PLEX, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, & more. And if I'm using another device, I can easily cast the screen of that device to the SHIELD to be able to share it. Having a microphone built into the remote to be able to issue voice commands is great and prevents having to frustratingly pick out each letter when trying to "type" with just the directional keys and enter button. I also love the easy portability of the SHIELD. Small enough to throw into my suitcase for trips, and easy to set up in a hotel room or Airbnb.

I had wanted to try the Shield for a long time, and when we knew we were going to be stuck at home for a long time, I figured it was a good time to try it out. For the first couple of weeks, I was disappointed. After watching TV for about 30-40min, the picture would just randomly black out for a couple of seconds, and the pick up again. I finally took it to another location (away from my house) and it was rock solid. So, it was something about the setup in my house. It turned out it was the HDMI port I was using. Now, it works perfect all them time. I have the original Fire TV 4K, and the Shield just blows it away! The picture is so much brighter, sharper, and has better colors. I had to switch back to the Fire TV when I was having the HDMI issues, and my daughter asked "What's wrong with the picture?" HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Wile is still the king of streaming boxes NVIDIA has certainly been sitting on its laurels. The upscaling is great video streaming is seamless. But due to its aging hardware there is little else it can do confidently other than acting as the best TV streaming box you can get right now. My primary frustrations with the NVIDIA shield are not with how well this device performs its primary function put more at missed potential of both the device itself and Android TV Google TV. In an ideal world this device was essentially allowing you to turn your television into a full Android device who is only limitations is the controller you plug into it. Don't get me wrong every other streaming stick is worse but most of them are not nearly as expensive and as long as you don't need a Cadillac experience do 70% as good a job often with better interfaces

Ended up returning because of provider (xfinity) issues but the quality of picture and ease of use were outstanding. Just does not support XFinity streaming, which is an Xfinity issue, not an Nvidia issue. Would jump back on a heartbeat if it had support for what I needed
