My Mom has an older nonsmart TV. She loves watching Youtube, Viki, and a bunch of other things on it. She had a fire tv from a few years back, which was snappy when she got it, but after years of software upgrades ran like a turtle. The Shield is a huge upgrade and super responsive and easy to use.

Product is probably not for everyone. I got this with turing it into an emulation box, home theater an after thought. I love the product, works well with a dualshock 4 controller.

This is a great media streamer. Plugging it in through an Ethernet cable makes this work at an optimum level. If you love to stream, this is your device.

IMO, this is the best streamer you can buy on the market. The remote (while the netflix button is annoying as it's frequently touched by mistake) is better than the apple TV remote which doesn't have back lightning. System is fast and I like the USB ports!

Amazing media center, running kodi, however android OS still cripples audio quality over HDMI. If 2ch audio is your goal, then a decent USB DAC solves this problem. Aside from that, excellent little box for all your streaming needs.

Use it to stream my PC games to projector downstairs. Very nice and versatile android tv box

Pricey, but worth it! I got this to emulate Dreamcast and GameCube games. So far, I'm really happy with it. This thing is every bit the emulation powerhouse people say it is. I can't speak to the streaming features, as I haven't used them yet.

This is easily the best streaming device on the market. The big selling point on this is the AI up-scaling. It can up-scale media that is 1920x1080 to 4K and make it look even better. This device supports usb devices and can even be used to stream content from a plex media server.

Works great! Use it to run plex media server. Took a while to get right but no issues.

This would IPTV service no reason for cable. You need to know which service you need download a couple of movie apps with downloader no reason for cable

The Shield Hardware is solid and well built. The options in the settings are absolutely over whelming. WAY TOO MANY CHOICES. Over a week in and i'm still trying to setup the server side.

The best Android TV device. 4K and Dolby support with AI 4K up resolution. Has all the apps that I use and can be integrated with Google Home. Had the previous version and they continually support it. Have not played with the gaming features but may try it in the future.

I bought this to replace an older, and failing, WD player. It was the best solution I could find to play .iso, backup DVD's. By installing Kodi, I'm able to do that. Everything works well so far. I took off a star because of the remote. It works fine but, the interface to Kodi is a little problematic. I'm also not looking forward to the button cell battery dying and having to chew the case off to replace it.

Overall great streaming device. Tons of options, and tons of apps. The biggest weakness? Bluetooth. The Bluetooth connection quality is subpar, and the range is mediocre. I've never had a device perform so poorly with Bluetooth. So if you use BT headphones often to watch TV, skip this device. Besides that, it works great. I ended up return it, because BT connection is a must for me.

Still one of the best streaming devices in 2023 the only con it runs worse on the new android os was better in the older one versions I love the ai enhancing features and I prefer streaming on this more than any other device

Futurproof smart tv OS replacement. I have 0 faith in all manufacturers to actually keep their OS updated. I have a slight issue with my tv and soundbar fighting over SEC-controls at random, but that's not the shields fault. If it could run a pihole that'd be great but oh well.

A fantastic media player. I primarily use it to stream local files from my NAS via PLEX. It handles every audio and video format I can think of, including Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. The only minor letdown is it does not support HDR on the Youtube app.

I’ve been using different streaming device, so far this is the best device.

I bought this device in 2024 to begin with and I believe this model has not been updated since 2019 and unfortunately it shows it's dated. I was having issues streaming and stuttering and looking online feels like a lot of people have issues with. Also no reason for this price in 2024 for a 2019 model...if it was cheaper I kind would understand...but for this price feels like better options out there if your usage is mainly streaming
