An improvement to the 2017 Shield
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 2019 Shield Tv Pro is a little faster than my 2017 Shield. And the Ai upscaling does a good job as well. Plus it has Dolby Vision capabilities. I certainly like it better than my Apple TV 4K.

Still the Best Streaming Device in 2025
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The NVIDIA Shield Pro continues to be my go-to media player, even years after its release. It handles 4K HDR, Dolby Vision, and Atmos flawlessly, and the AI upscaling really makes older content look incredible. It's also great for gaming with GeForce NOW and retro emulators. Fast, reliable, and still getting regular updates. Worth every penny if you want a premium experience!

Nice Incremental Upgrade
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nice improvement over previous version. AI enhanced processing helps with some content. Snappier response from new chip. The basics are still the same but no game pad. The new remote is an improvement. Overall, it's not a required update but if you run the Plex Server and have older media, the extra HP will make a difference with transcoding and AI. I offloaded Plex to a Synology NAS and I'm enjoying the faster app response times with Netflix, Hulu, etc...

Nvidia Shield Pro
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.100% happy with Nvidia Shield. Only minor fault is the picture if item looks like it is on a stand, (I think previous model came with a stand.) Because of lack of room, I can't lay it flat, I found a stand online and it works perfectly.

Amazing product.
|Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is awesome man. It makes Tubi look like HD. I got it because even though I have a $2,000 TV it does the same quality as my PS5 which isn't full signal (4:4:4) basically resulting in half the image quality. This thing has made it so everything is like show room content. You can always turn the AI up scaling off but I will say on some animation it does result in a lot of staired(whenever outlines are kind of blocky and looks like stairs) The remote was very confusing on how to get to the batteries.

The ultimate streaming device but some quirks
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's the fastest out there, beats the Firestick and Roku for sheer speed and responsiveness. A few quirks though. Although it is currently endorsed by Google and the Playstore is the native source of apps, they will not allow the Chrome browser or any browser that allows the download of anything, including third party apps which is what the device was famous for. There are ways around this though The Shield does not come with an HDMI cable? You will have to buy one, make sure it is an up to date one that supports 60 hertz, 4k, HDR and Dolby Vision. Having said all this, if you have a 4k tv, and watch your stuff via the device, it has intellegent upscaling and sharpening. 720p and 1080p TV and films will look glorious, much more like true 4k than the TV is capable of. Some people would argue that this alone is worth the asking price, I would be one of them

Still the best in 2023!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had the 2017 model since it came out. It is on a 50" tv in my bedroom. The 2019 is a huge step up from the Mi Box 4k that I had in the living room on my 75" tv it had slow outdated android tv 9.0 software. The 4k AI upscale on medium settings is great for the larger tv when viewing 1080p content. Love the remote controls my entire theater through the receiver with CEC control enabled. It is still the best you can get.

Best home streaming device? If not, awfully close!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What can I say other then this is my 2nd one i purchased for my house. My 1st one still works for the most part, the ethernet jack stopped working after a power surge, but wifi works perfectly fine. As I stream large 4k content (not Netflix 4k), the wifi can sometimes stutter, which is why i bought a new unit. These are arguably the best home streaming device available and if you don't live in the Apple environment this probably the best device out there. Have not had an issue with streaming content on this 2nd unit over ethernet and ease of use is why I'll keep buying Shields.

Love it!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the 2017 Pro version since 2017 and loved that one. I used a Harmony remote control the 2017 Shield, TV, and receiver. I love Harmony too, but I began having issues with the TV and receiver not recognizing them due to timing. The remote for the 2019 model using HDMI-CEC allows me to control all three beautifully. One of my motivations for upgrading to the 2019 is the AI upscaling. It works great in most cases. In a few, the movie looks over detailed and a little pixellated. There is a button on the remote to toggle the upscaling. The first movie we watched was Monsters, Inc. and the detail added to the monsters was amazing.

Perfect as a Plex client
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shield Pro works perfectly as a client to stream 4k with Atmos from my Plex server. Every other device I tried had problems with stuttering and freezing. If you use Plex, I can't recommend this enough.

Why did I wait so long?! The Best!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have been a Cord Cutter since 2014 but don't know why I waited so long to finally grab an Nvidia Shield Pro (2019). It is blazing fast and I've had zero issues playing 4K media like Netflix and Amazon Prime and only utilizing WiFi connection at this time. Even 3 years later Nvidia is supporting this device with recent software updates. The simple Bluetooth remote gets firmware updates too. Worth every penny. Android TV based platform is really user friendly. Hint: look up Aptoide TV and once installed you can get other Apps that aren't on the Android TV version of Google Play.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.* My Experience: Pros: - Comfortable Remote. - Fast Responsive Menu Interface Navigation. - Sleek, Small Design. - Nvidia & Android Games. (from Epic Library & Others) - 4K HDR & Dolby Atmos. - External HD Expansion. - Bluetooth (PS4/XBox One Controller Connectivity) Cons: - Nvidia Games Limited. - Game Controller Not Included. (You can use one you may have) - Update Sometimes Fails. Works After Restart. - Not a Big Deal but, No Factory Plastics or Peel-offs on the Contents. Comes Bare inside the Package. I actually thought the one I bought was opened and returned. - Piano Finish Part on Device Easily Scratches. Overall, The Best Streaming Device that's Not Apple! *

NVIDIA SHIELD PRO!!
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.NVIDIA SHIELD PRO is an excellent product. It is such a tiny system that you can hold in the palm of your hands but pack a punch in performance and features. The entire system is smooth in execution with Google support and USB ports to extend your storage or to set up a server with Plex. The Shield supports most of the popular apps including Netflix, Hulu, Disney +, ESPN, VUDU, etc. The system has a quick and responsive interface and the Remote control has voice functionality so you can use your voice to pull up content. The unit is sleek and small and will fit in any entertainment center.

Best Streaming Device! No CAP!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a very capable streaming box. It can render 4K videos with very high bitartrate without stuttering. I tested via an ethernet connection. I do not know the performance via WiFi. Apps are available via Google Play. But not all apps. Only Android TV compatible apps may be installed. Connectivity is very good. WiFi AC is fast. Bluetooth is very useful for connecting a keyboard, mouse, and multiple wireless controllers. There are also two USB 3 ports, but I didn't have to use them because it can mount NAS locations as a local drive. Using the gigabit ethernet, streaming speed isn't a problem using this method. EDIT: Modifications aren't allowed when NAS locations, i.e. saving and deleting files isn't possible on NAS locations using the mount feature built into the OS. The remote is also nice. Since it's using Bluetooth, no need to have line of sight to send commands. It needs a few more buttons though. EDIT: Also, being able to edit the Netflix button would be useful. It also has a built in IR blaster and it doesn't have problems controlling the volume to my Sony TV. I should also mention that the IR blaster is mainly used for controlling the TV volume. There's also a game stream feature for PCs with NVidia compatible hardware. I'll comment on this later. EDIT: GeForce Now is a game streaming service built into the Shield TV Pro. Users have to register to test the beta phase of the service, which for now, isn't the best gaming experience. Lag is very high for me - around 170ms - which is very irritating. This is with a very fast internet connection with a ping of only 2ms to my ISP. In the future, I do hope it works well since GeForce Now could also stream games from Steam as long as the user owns them. The service also offers free games.
