It was the best Streaming device before they added ADS to the interface. I don't know who's to blame, NVIDIA or Google but at some point, they have to stop being so greedy. Before the advertisements, I would've given 5 stars but now I wish I could've given zero.

It's ok, would not buy it again. Should have came with the game controller. Formatted USB drive, too free up some space, system does not use external sd for all apps or games. Play store on sheild does not show all games you would see on phone, some or a lot of apps are not compatible even if you can find the apps on your android phone. Built in chrome cast sucks, i own a fire stick, cast movies from laptop to fire stick over wifi no problems, can't with the sheild, it might connect and freeze or it doesn't connect at all, Do not like the new sheild pro was advertised to be better than the previous version, it's not.

Very glitchy and the gaming part I never used. This basically puts android in your smart tv which all Sony TV’s have already. Just buy he Google Tv dongle and save money.

I uave the LG G2 TV and use it to stream 4k movies from Plex. It has limitations when decoding Atmos. Bought the Nvidia Shield Pro TV and has no problems. Interface is fast and easy to use. Wish the menus were st higher resolution and also sometimes the apps a little buggy. But, once it starts steeaming, no issues afterwards. Worth it for what i need it to do. Got it on Black Friday for $175 for something that is price fixed.

Constantly having to flip between different audio settings to get rid of the cracks is tiring. This seems to be a common problem wihtin the community. Beware. I would hold off on getting one till they actually update the unit to something new. Its 2015-2017 to now 2019 models already feel so updated. Price tag is s rip off for what it is.

Someone told me to try this and raved about everything it could do but its useless for gamestreaming (All Options, i run a Ryzen 7 5800 & 3080 Ti setup and still terrible). GeforceNow doesnt work, just glitches and freezes, games through Nvidia have ridiculous wait times, it wont connect to 5ghz networks and says my main router isnt strong enough signal but full bars. TV and movie streaming and apps are okay, but not worth the price your paying. Long Story Short, I'm returning it.

Doesn’t matter where you buy this (I’ve bought from Amazon and BestBuy), the Nvidia shield is. Buggy mess at the best of times.

Works for most streaming apps, or running media from usb hard drive, but you cannot run express vpn on this device. Shame on nvidia for not updating their software to do so.

This used to be a premium product with a premium price. No longer is this a premium product as nvidia has chosen to join forces with google and shove ads down your throat on your Home Screen. With no way to disable or prevent the most recent update to google TVs Home Screen you might as well buy a cheaper android tv device. Nvidia used to pride themselves on a clean ad free device. Goodbye nvidia never again

I had high hopes for this thing and so far it’s done nothing but mess up my PC. My main use for it was streaming from my pc to the tv. I have a 2080 super not overclocked with latest Nvidia driver and latest windows 10. Both the shield and pc are connected directly to router with cat6 Ethernet cable. So far I’ve had it for 24 hours and only been able to play for about 40 minutes because it is constantly crashing and freezing. You literally have to research every single game you want to play to find some workaround to make it actually playable. And even when you getting working it’s only a matter of time before it crashes. This means you can’t just relax and play your game because you’re constantly having to go back to the computer to fix another issue. I will say that the shield has some other features that make it cool but not at the price they’re asking. It also creeps me out how deeply Google is ingrained into the device. You can’t even use it without linking a google account and it’s clear this is just another half-functional device to collect data on you. I am returning this ASAP and I’m surprised that Nvidia is capable of producing such poor hardware/software.

If you're looking into a streaming device, look elsewhere. I purchased this to play some rom games here and there as well as watch some movies on 4k. After 30 days Shield goes into a infinite reboot. Trying to go to Settings for a factory reset is impossible because it freezes up when you try to. This seems like a defective product, but for $200? It makes a premium device performs like trash. I recommend looking for a Mii, Firestick or Roku.

I bought this to use as a Plex server. At the time it was thought to be a perfect solution for this application. Performance was hit/miss on various movies despite having the power to handle 4K movies. Then Android came out with an update that prevented Plex from working properly for weeks. Random restarts and freezes. I wish I never purchased this.

2017 shield box worked to turn on my denon receiver and Samsung tv. New shield does not turn the tv on. I also had to work hard to get the audio controls on shield remote to work with denon receiver .

If you enjoy ads, then this is the device for you. Can't believe I paid $200 to look at ads. Poor performance, stuttering, out of sync constantly, huge disappointment. Network is rock solid, LAN and Internet speed tests are great and the device does connect at gigabit speeds. I don't understand it. Roku Ultra that is 6 years old, outperforms this device and I was easily able to block the ads using Unbound. I purchased the Roku Ultra for the gigabit support. however, it only negotiated 100mb. Tried multiple switches, always 100mb. It still outperforms this Shield Pro, no stuttering, no loss of audio, never out of sync. Shield Pro is the clear winner when comparing hardware specifications. Is it software related, or faulty hardware? Tried to return and I am just outside the return window. Waste of money for a piece of hardware that is only really good at displaying ads but not playing media.

I have been using it for quite a while and have no issues with it. I first thought that it was a bit expensive compared to other units. However, the Shield is so powerful and can be used for multi-purposes. Once you get to know how to use it, it will change your media life.

First time trying this system out. Setup was easy and straight forward. Navigating around the home screen is simple but it's not native Google tv software. You can still find it and load that version. The remote control button layout is ok and reachable with out fatigued fingers or wrist. The angular design I manageable but I dislike the feel in my hand, and I hate the indented center ENTER button. No included controller or Google tv software for 2019. Needs free Geforce full game access for the asking price.

It had sound passthrough issues with Sony Bravia X900H. I had to return it. It was too finicky. Great device with a few issues. I'd still recommend that it's worth a try.

Despite being one of the earliest systems available for cloud-based gameplay, the user experience for the NVIDIA SHIELD is extremely unfinished, no on-screen keyboard available for basic things like logging into an associated Ubisoft account, for example, so you need to have a USB keyboard and mouse handy, since bluetooth keyboard support is spotty, and being able to do things like "type in a username and password to log into something" which is the most popular activity using this thing, doesn't actually work with a Logitech bluetooth keyboard. Steam support is also slapped on as an afterthought, and if you close a dialog of anything in big screen mode you just get stuck there until you manually reboot. Also, it doesn't tell you if it can't play a game because it's not already in your library, you just have to try it and backtrack from the error messages. I'd expect this from some cheap Ali Express generic set top box but not from something that costed me hundreds of dollars. Also, no Apple TV+ app. Ridiculous.
