I had the previous shield and decided to upgrade to this new one after getting a new 4k TV so I could make use of the Upscaling the new model has and its been great. The upscaling really does make a difference and its good. You can have a good amount of detail without losing clarity which is impressive. the new remote also feels solid and I like the inclusion of the netflix button since we watch a lot of netflix in my household.

By far the best media streamer on the market.

This is by far the best Streaming box I've owned. I also own two 4k Apple TVs and this is much faster and responsive overall, with a great upscale for non-4k media and a really nice, quality feeling remote. The reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is that it runs on Android TV, so it doesn't have the best interface, and sometimes it won't wake up so I have to disconnect the power to reboot it. Overall, it's a really nice unit and if you use Geforce Now or Steam Link in-home streaming, it's a MUCH better choice than Apple TV (which won't even allow Geforce Now).

Good upgrade from the 2017 model

I have two of the 2017 models, and this is a decent upgrade from them. I mainly use these for running Kodi which is playing local movies and tv shows from my main PC. The remote on this is much nicer than the 2017. I haven't used the 4k upscaling yet so I can't comment on that. I don't notice any speed difference, though I suspect that might be more apparent in demanding games. One thing I have noticed is that every problem I have with my 2017 models has been fixed in this version. I have a number of problem files in movies and tv shows that will not play nice with Kodi for some reason, and this updated device works on ALL of them perfectly. I also have had HDMI handshake issues with my 2017 models since the last update, and this model does not share those issues. Overall, a worthwhile upgrade.

Already had the tubular nvidia shield and recently purchased a projector, so I decided why not try the better one now that it's finally back in stock. No regrets the 64 bit android interface has colors that pop out more and upscaled content looks better. Both are very fast but this one is noticeablu snappier. I am not disappointed with either of them and neither will you, but if you want the best of the best this is it.

Best Android based media streaming box.

A great little streaming box. I have always loved Apple TV boxes as they are the best in terms of peformance and smooth experience. I still think Apple TV is the best out there. Coming to this nVidia, compared to the stock android OS built into TV's with mediocre SoC, this thing will blow every other Android based TV OS out there. Didnt buy this for gaming as I purely wanted a great TV experience. Like the phone double clicking the home button will take you to the apps manager where you can close unwanted apps. Built in Plex server and USB ports and flexibility on how you can connect to the connected storage from your PC etc makes it a great home based media server as well. I am not sure how much Netflix pays nVidia for that shortcut button on the remote, but thats the biggest problem. Its wayyy toooo close to the volume buttons. The buttons you tend to use the most in any remote. So look forward to launching Netflix often when all you wanted to do was control the volume. I have thought of disabling that button completely as I dont have Netflix.

Good device for streaming. Would like more storage for recording. The one area that should have more memory.

I have the 2017 Nvidia Shield but wanted another one for a different room. The Shield TV Pro is definitely worth the money. The AI upscaling works very well. I really like the newer remote too. The only negative is that for some reason I can install the Dish Anywhere App on the 2017 Shield but the newer Shield is not compatible. I hope this is addressed soon.

Nvida Shield Pro Vs Roku Ultra

I purchased this to upgrade from my Roku Ulta for several reasons. 1. This allowed me to use Kodi, preferred over Plex as PleD is unstable on my network, to manage my video collection as a media server. 2. The speed that the unit in processing tasks or switching between apps. The remote is better on the Nvidia, but I use a Harmony Hub to coordinate all the activities. Set up was very simple, even adding a NAS was easy. The only complaint is customizing the remote and interaction with the Harmony unit. Nvidia seem to not make all commands available.

The only streamer I use. It is super powerful, fast and can be fairly customized to suit your needs. I use it as the main hub of my home theater. I can't say enough good things about it. This is my second Shield and probably won't be my last. I am a fan for life or until they change this perfect little machine in a bad way. It is a little pricey but worth it for me.

Great streaming device. One of my favorites. Have used my Samsung TV, Apple TV and Firestick. This, by far, is the fastest and smoothes of them all. It can do so much too. Glad they changed from a touch volume control to buttons, it could get annoying try to change the volume and it not registering. Also the AI Upscaling looks real good, the control shape is a little weird.

Passthrough atmos, with Dolby Vision and HDR10 support? Nothing else beats the shield. Ya, you probably don't need this, unless you have a top end HDR 4k tv with a sound system to match. I have to say though, I run some 720p videos on Plex that I play and the one thing no one else can do that the shield does is this uses AI upscaling and it auto scales up my videos to run nicely on 4k. Really impressive feature.

Not only does this version of Android TV run smooth as butter, it doubles as a PLEX server for all my digital media. It is fast, reliable, and also can stream games via GeForce Now which works much better than something like Stadia, and uses the games you already own rather than forcing repurchases. If an app isn't available on this thing, you can bet that it can be sideloaded via Android. It really is a great device.

I highly recommend this powerful box - it is easy to setup, easy to use and the picture and sound quality is excellent! Side loading is critical for me as I use DIRECTV Streaming and there is no App on the play store for that - but with the side loading capability it is/was easy to get the app loaded and working.

This was expensive, but works well. I don't like that is shows frames from whatever I've been watching. I like that it will play video from an external hard disk. For me, paying the extra money for the Pro version is well worth it - I have a lot of content on the hard drive, and it makes it easy to use for audio or video. There's apparently no way to view text or read books with this device. This will also work with Kodi, but I haven't set this up yet. I like the feel of the remote-it fits my hand well, and it doesn't want to slip out, like the flat remotes might do. Aside from its shape, I'm not thrilled with the remote - when I try to turn the volume up, half the time, I press the microphone button (I don't look at the remote when I use it), and the screen freezes until I wait for it to wake up or press the 'back' button on the remote. BestBuy says that this comes with Fubo -- it doesn't. This DOES come with six months of Paramount +. I haven't taken that offer yet - I'm not sure if there's anything there that I really want to see. I haven't tried upscaling the picture to 4K - I don't have a TV or monitor that can do 4K.

Runs every TV app available in the android store, transcodes any video file you throw at it with Plex, and is very fast with streaming games. I tried the free geforcenow trial and played Cyberpunk over the internet with max graphics and it barely broke a sweat. Unless you are absolutely entrenched in the appletv ecosystem, this is the best streaming box you can buy
