I had the last model shield and sold it to get the new one. Main reason, wanted dolby vision with atmos to pass to my 2016 oled tv. (the 2016 didnt allow pass atmos through arc). Why upgrade? The AI for upscale of 1080p content is worth it alone. It makes them look like 4k.

I have purchased 3 of these. Two for my home and one for daughters home. They are the quintessential boxes for delivery of all things streaming (up to 4K) including all streaming services and Plex! Small, compact and powerful, they put to shame roku and other streaming devices. Fully configurable. Love this device. No ethernet cables as the WIFI connection is fast enough to support all video formats. Highly supported by the Nvidia team, routine software updates keep you at the leading edge of home tech. If you are cutting the cord to cable, get this today. If you are keeping cable, this is a great augment!

Great performance do unit exceeded my expectations. Picture quality is amazing. Upscaling is terrific. Couldn’t be happier with the purchase and the new remote is rockstar status

I bought this primarily for gaming, though it does offer video streaming and office functions as well (so long as you use a mouse and keyboard). It doesn't play ALL android games, but it does have some exclusives available like Half Life 2 and The Talos Project (meaning you can't play them on phone or tablet). Also, GeForce Now allows me to play PC games through Steam, Epic Games, Uplay and GOG so long as I own that game. And there are a few great places to find cheap Steam product keys if you know where to look, so I'm playing Death Stranding and The Medium without having to buy a PS4 or an Xbox Series X, which to me is awesome! So long as your internet is steady and fast enough, you can game it up all you want and I haven't experienced a single lag related issue. Overall, this is the best gaming purchase I've made since my Xbox One S.

bought this so i could get the most out of my movies (HDR, surround, etc). It works great for that... but the software is sometimes slow and the wifi antenna on it is horrid. Apps tend to close/restart randomly while you're using it. The remote is also the worst design I have ever experienced in my life. The shape makes no sense, it doesn't fit well in your hand, and the material is slippery so even if you could get a decent grip, it slides right out. The shape also makes it difficult to accurately hit buttons on the remote if it's resting on the table. Seriously, who green lit this design? Honestly for the average streamer, you might get the same benefits with just a simple 4k firestick.

This is one of the best if not the best android boxes you can have. It's super fast and tons of fun. I have three in my home and love them. I have tried other boxes but none quite like this one. It is a must have if you are wanting to cut the cord from cable.

Works great! Replaced my Fire Cube and it is a lot more speedy. The AI Upscaling is definitely noticeable. I have owned it for nearly 2 years and its still working perfect

This is my second shield. I also own the 2017 model that is now on my bedroom tv. I will buy another when I get a tv for my basement. Well worth the money. The remote is a nice upgrade. Ai up scaling is nice as well but takes some configuration.

Very pleased with this upgrade more storage, faster response to voice and remote push button commands. Remote is easily held in the hand and has more functions built in. Really like the change up from the quarter shape size batteries to aa's.

For a small device, this is a very good streaming device, able to get all my streaming services that I currently subscribe to as well as some limitations to the games that I play. I was able to connect a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, later switched to a trackball which allowed me to play. This pretty much streams all the main services (Amazon Prime, Youtube, Roku, AppleTV, Hulu).

I bought this to replace my FOURTH Fire stick that just became too slow! The interface is great and its very easy to use with Kodi. I will take away 1 star for the high price and weird triangle shaped remote though. Not sure why they went with that shape as its not ergonomic or aesthetic. But at least the buttons light up with movement.

This is the best Android media player you can buy. The new redesigned remote control is really good. Also the new AI image enhancement is excellent and with Dolby Vision/Atmos, DTSX included you have all the latest sounds and video standards for your viewing pleasure.

Outstanding product . This thing never skips a beat. Its snappy and fast in pretty much every way. If you have an Nvidia GPU with Nvidia experience, you are able to stream games from your PC to another room. I tested a number of peripherals; xbox one s bluetooth controller, wireless keyboard and mouse, external ssd, flash drives , you name it . It handles anything you throw at it expertly. The only thing I really have to complain about is the remote. The triangular design is comfortable but also annoying at the same time. And I wish the dedicated Netflix button did not exist. Not only is it unnecessary but, its large , overly sensitive and in the worst place possible. I can't tell you how many times I mistakenly breathe on it and suddenly my program is interrupted by Netflix' splash screen.

The box is very fast. Accesses apps without incident and the remote is very user-friendly. I love the features that are available as well.

If you stream most of your content, then this is for you! After years of Rokus, Firesticks, and Cubes, i finally upgraded to a ShieldPRO and it is awesome! Much faster, less bugs, the UI is really intuitive and I like the Google Store for apps much better than Amazon’s. The remote takes some getting used to, but thats the only minor flaw i can think of.

The NVIDIA Shield is probably the best high end Android TV box available. This is the newest version available as of the writing of this review, and it does not disappoint. I use it primarily with Plex and Kodi to play from my existing media library. Plenty of disk space to store library for Kodi metadata. You can even serve Plex from it if you'd like, although as I already have a dedicated Plex server I haven't tried that myself. It passes through all audio formats to a dedicated receiver if you have one as I do. And of course, the library of approved apps on the Google Play store is the biggest around. Not to mention that you can sideload any app you need to if it's not in the Play store for some reason. Storage is of course expandable through USB, and a built in 1G NIC is a must for the serious streamer. A

Decided to update from my original Nvidia Shield from 2015. Works great and the addition of the Dolby Vision and the upscaling was an added feature. I am totaly satisfied with the performance of this unit. The only downside is Nvidia removed the IR on the unit which I wish they would put back. Shipping from Best Buy was in two days! Great job BB.

This is by far the best device you can use for streaming and gaming. It is quick and responsive. If you lay it down it is just a little bigger than a deck of cards. It has all the ports you will need for additional space and functions.

Bought this to replace a firestick on our main living room TV. The firestick was constantly slow and couldnt keep up with the apps i was using. SO GLAD I bought this. It is lightning fast and you can customize it any way you like. I suggest going online to see different apps to use so you can make it even more customizable!

Its lightning fast and very easy to setup. I switched from an Apple TV and this was a huge upgrade. I love the remote. The only issue is the remote is not rechargeable and requires batteries. I love the free games from Nvidia with their GE Force Beta access.
