Best Streaming Device I've owned
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second Nvidia Sheild Pro and couldnt be happier with the performance. Worth every penny for the different ways you can use the device. The AI upscaling feature is so good that my wife even notices the difference.

I'm being overrun by bugs
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.UPDATE: I continue to have problems with the Shield and Nvidia continues to issue patches, but the patches often bring about new bugs. This product was launched too early. Initially, I couldn't transfer files to the Shield from a computer, that has now been fixed. Since I bought the Shield, I haven't been able try Dolby Vision (DV) HDR on my Vizio TV. Nvidia has been working on a patch for that for weeks. A few days ago they released it. Now I have the option for Dolby Vision, but it results in wildly over-saturated colors (skin tones look garishly orange and fuchsia). The only way to fix this is to disable expanded color and run the Shield at 23.9Hz instead of 59.9 Hz, but this results in a choppy and clunky UI experience, one worse than the built-in UI of my TV. Dolby Vision is the main reason I was waiting for a Shield update, and ultimately why I bought the 2019 edition. However, if this DV issue can't be fixed before my return window, I'll be forced to take it back. The most expensive streaming device on the market shouldn't have all these issues. If you want the best streaming experience for your 4k HDR TV and: 1) You don’t want an Apple TV 4k. 2) You don’t need to run a Plex Server. 3) Cost is no object. Then this is, unequivocally the streaming box to get. No question. What makes it great? - It supports Dolby Vision: still a rarity in most streaming boxes (Apple TV 4k does support it) - Unique form factor: it’s a little cyclinder that easily hides behind your TV, it makes almost no noise. - It is FAST. If you think “my TV’s apps are just fine”, don’t use this. You’ll realize just how laggy that LG/Sony/Samsung/Vizio OS really is! - It has the best remote of any streamer: it lights up, it’s ergonomic, and it’s not the Apple TV remote. (which is one of the worst in the industry) - It has a gigabit Ethernet port. (the Ethernet ports built into most TVs are only a tenth as fast) - It has fast, AC WiFi if you don’t want to run a cable - It also acts like a Chromecast Ultra, so you can cast from many Android apps, the Chrome browser, and even iOS apps. - It has a microSD slot for your own, local media. (if you want to hook up a hard drive, you’ll need to shell out $50 more for the “Pro” version though) The Apple TV 4k is better if: - You purchased lots of content on iTunes - You want to watch Apple TV+ (there isn’t an app for the Shield, but that may change) - You don’t like “tinkering” with settings, at all, ever. If you need to run a Plex server (or need to hookup USB drives): - Get the Pro version. It’s an extremely competent and extremely cheap way to serve up Plex to other devices. Why am I only giving it 1 star? - Nvidia is still working out lots of kinks - CEC does not work properly (won't turn off Vizio TV) - Dolby Vision HDR doesn’t work with Vizio TVs (which is what I have) - SMB is broken: which means I can’t transfer files from my computer to the Shield - Many users are having problems installing the Disney+ app - Google Home thinks I have two Shields and therefore refuses to turn mine on or off with a voice command. No matter how many times I delete and re-add it, it will say either “I don’t know which Shield device to turn on/off” or “the Nvidia Shield is currently unavailable”. It gives the 2nd command when my Shield is powered up and I’m staring at the screen…

Best Android Box So Far
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bar none the best Android tv box I've used so far, I use it primarily for tv streaming (reviewed accordingly). Simple set up, great WiFi connection, seamless streaming, full 4K viewing experience, serious customer service, I called them about an update, the tech was knowledgeable and had good customer service etiquette. Nice picture upgrade for iptv watchers, compatible with all the apps you can find on Google and more. I purchased this box to replace a skystream III Android box (no 4K), and I'm glad I did, seems like a quality item, time will tell if it is durable.

If you’re serious about streaming
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The best streaming device. Period, end of story. I use it with Plex and it handles everything I throw at it with ease. Both 4K and 1080, and every audio codec commonly used via direct play. One word of advice: this doesn’t come with an HDMI cable. Don’t mess around with any standard high-speed HDMI cable you have laying around. Invest in a high quality certified 8K 48Gbps HDMI cable and you won’t regret it. I had bad “handshake” issues using 3 different high-speed cables I had in my collection, and nearly gave up and returned it. A good cable resolved all my issues.

Great picture, just enjoy reboots.
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The good: picture and sound is amazing. Unit is very versatile. The bad: Reboot, Reboot, Reboot. In an average week, it 4-7 times. Sometimes no sound, mostly though it locks up. Factory reset because HULU stopped working and everything online suggested to fix it, I did, with the final suggestion being a factory reset. It fixed Hulu and I was hoping it would fix the other issues of no sound and locking up, but it didn't. Using it with a LG C2 OLED. It makes the TV pic "pop" even more than the awesome picture of the TV itself. I also use a Vizio V51-H6 sound bar. I can overlook the sound issue because it may be the sound bar, but I don't understand why it locks up as much as it does. I'm only using it for streaming.

Great for streaming media and games!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used to use the built in apps for Youtube and Plex and the like, but my TV was soooo laggy and the menus were awful to navigate. The nvidia shield has a much nicer and smooth interface, and with moonlight I can play games streaming from my PC in high quality with no lag all the way downstairs in my living room! The only two problems I have with it right now is that they've put an ad banner on the top of the main page, which is annoying, and also that the Amazon prime video app doesn't seem to work right sometimes, but I think that might be Amazon's fault.

How the mighty have fallen......
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What can I say... this used to be the best media streamer device you can buy and it was worth every penny. I bought this device specifically for its simplicity and power. I have my own media server at home and it was able to play everything I threw at it at the time. I also enjoyed playing games directly from the device or by using Nvidia Gamestream. Then they added Google Integration and everything went downhill.... -With Google Integration came ads. This began slowing the device down and there is no way to turn this feature off officially. The ads that would appear had absolutely no relevance on what I would watch. Sometimes very inappropriate ads would even display. Not good when you have small children that use the device to watch shows and movies. -Gamestream was retired by Nvidia, and this was another reason I bought the device. I enjoyed being able to stream my games from my PC to the TV, and it had very little impact while gaming. People will say to just use Steam to stream games, but I experienced nothing but lag and glitches when playing games through Steam. -Newer codecs are not supported on the device, like AV1 or HDR10+. Dolby vision is sometimes a hit or miss. -The device is outdated (2019) and there are cheaper alternatives that can do what the Shield Pro does, and so much more. -Constant freezing is now the new norm. Search Shield Pro forums and you will come across numerous users who have this issue. Resetting the Shield to factory defaults fixes the issue until you upgrade the shield (Google Integrations), then the freezing starts all over again. I moved away from the Shield to an AppleTV and could not be happier. I feel like I have control of the device and can configure what content appears in the home screen. If you do not mind the issues that come with the Shield Pro, then by all means go for it, but I would not pay the current price ($199). I would wait for discounts or sales to kick in, but the device is really only worth $99 now. I personally would not buy a media streaming device from Nvidia again.

Finally a strong competitor to the Apple TV
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Vey impressed by the response performance of the Shield TV. I have owned every popular Steaming device out there, Apple TV, Amazon Fire Stick, Roku, Google TV and others, and this device really out performs all of them, with Apple TV being the closest 2nd to it. Finally able to find a good performing Streaming device for us Android users, and can finally move away from Apple TV, which works fantastic but as an Android user Shield TV give me the integrations I need for my android eco system.

Worth it!!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don’t know where to even start. This is an amazing device. It has everything plus more. Great for streaming. Fast response. Also come with the nvidia gaming app that has a lot of games and is great for cloud gaming. You won’t be disappointed. Only bad thing I can find is the remote it’s in a weird shape and can’t sit it straight. But such an amazing device if you’re willing to spend the money for it. Won’t be disappointed.

The fastest newest 4K tv companion
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The NVIDIA Pro Shield is a fine piece of hardware, the tegra processor and built in graphics chip make for a great NVIDIA NOW experience. The most capable 4K TV companion for HDR streaming and HD gameplay. The backlit remote is wonderful.

Best streaming device!
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not a big Nvidia Shield fan, so you can trust my review, I bought expecting the best device or Ultimate Device, it probably is the best overall, but I don't care for it, I ended up with an Amazon Fire TV Cube 2nd gen, the differences in those are, the Shield can and will play the biggest or bigger 4K Files out there, like what you get using Real Debrid and other services with Cyberflix and other apps, and the big Remux 4K files on Emby & Plex servers. as long as you have a 100 speed or faster internet connection. The Dolby Atmos is excellent, the Video Upscaling which works on most but not all things is awesome and unmatched by any other device, the new Remote is great. if your a big gamer with an expensive 4K Tv and sound setup, spend the money and get one, if your an average streamer, get a 4K FS or the Cube when it's on sale.
