    SHIELD PRO VS SHIELD TV???

    Posted .

First! I have the shield pro. I got it for 165 so made more sense to pay that than the lower end shield tv at the same price point. The huge dilemma everone is having on these, is which ine to choose!(i also had that issue) so to help you guys choose and make up your minds! if you do not play any games or game on a casual level go for the shield TV, but if you are a big gamer and want to play pretty good games that run smoothly and also stream go for the SHIELD PRO! Again i got the shield pro becuase i paid the same price the shield tv cost so i future proofes my self and it was a great deal. GOOD LUCK!

    Best streaming device period

The shield pro is the best streaming device in my opinion, the 4k upscaling and DOLBY VISION is a must have which this includes. I notice big difference 4k in animated and pc gaming streaming.

I was in need of another TV. It didn't need to be anything fancy (for the bedroom). I already have a 2015 NVIDIA shield. I decided to get a non-smart TV and a new NVIDIA shield. I couldn't be happier. I moved the old shield to the bedroom and put the new shield in the living room. Great Plex client and powerful enough to run Plex server if need be. There isn't much you can't do with NVIDIA shield. It's responsive, powerful and customizable.

    The definitive streaming box

I recently purchased this product on a bit of a dice roll. I’m in the Apple ecosystem but I was looking for something that was a little more versatile. This thing has everything. Plex media server capabilities? Check. Tons of streaming apps available for every conceivable service? Check. Motion activated backlit remote? You bet. Lightning fast UI? It has that too. Emulation support? It doesn’t stop. It makes my nerd heart flutter. I have never used a more complete set top box. I’m a little bit bummed at the price because I think for $149-$179 it makes more sense, but Nvidia is still the king of the enthusiast’s living room.

    This friggin box!!

You gotta be otta your mind if you pass on this device. Having purchased quite a few "cheap tv boxes", I gotta tell you they all pale in comparison to this Mega Box. If you have a high end tv, with a sound bar system, this is for you. If you (like me) cut the cable cord and went fully IPTV, this box is for you. All those junk boxes simply didn't have the horses this beast has. If you are sick of freezes, and fearing the next blue circle, run to best buy to pick this up. The gig ethernet connection alone makes it stand out, but the sound and the upscaling is amazing.

Just Buy it! Stream your home PC to any TV anywher

    Posted .

Literally the best way to stream anything to your Tv. Maybe I say that because I've always used rokus and those are pretty limited? These shields are not limited. They have Chromecast built in and you can download any Android app that you can think of. Whether or not it'll be functional with a TV remote is a different story. I've been streaming my PC to this and I've been able to use my computer everywhere without having to lug it around. This is through the "moonlight" app. Literally a godsend and exactly why I bought this. My home PC games streamed to my mom's house or a friend's house or a hotel room TV. Almost latency free. Gaming PCs are heavy. This is way wayyyy easier to carry around. And controllers, keyboards, mice, speakers, anything Bluetooth will connect to it and will connect to my PC through moonlight without needing to change anything. Controller support while streaming my home PC from a hotel. Literally so amazing and life changing!!!

AI upscaling significantly improves video quality

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Like the 2017 Shield before it, I use the 2019 Shield Pro mainly for video streaming. I've found it's been a worthy upgrade for the AI upscaling alone, with a few caveats: * The 2019 Shields (including the Pro) will do AI upscaling if device resolution is set at up to 30 Hz. * Not all apps currently support AI upscaling: Of the apps I use frequently, Netflix and Prime Video support AI upscaling but HBO Now and YouTube TV don't. Even with these caveats, I'm very happy with Shield Pro and recommend it.

All I can say is, why did I wait this long. I've been thru my share of other Android boxes always looking for a better deal. This is the Lamborghini of TV boxes! Fast, no buffereing whatsoever, 4k enhancement that is absolutely amazing. You know this is the best there is, spend the extra $$ and you wont be disappointed.

I did not buy the pro, but I bought the original one back in 2017 by accident (thought it was a tablet like a moron), but I wasn't disappointed at all. It's been the best streaming device that I have used so far, has some cool gaming features and probably best of all - it STILL gets feature updates. I plan on getting the pro soon. The new remote is soo much better than the original, plus it has a built in microphone for Google Assistant.

Buggy PlexDVR feature, overkill for just streaming

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this for the DVR feature that you can use with the preloaded Plex Media Server when you add a separate Hauppauge tuner and external USB hard drive. Bottom line is Plex is buggy and fails on a regular basis. Neither Nvidia or Hauppauge support really hasn't been able to help. Thankfully Android TV includes a Live Channels app that gives me a basic DVR. I just can't access and view recorded programs remotely with the Live Channels app. The Shield itself is Android TV. If you are an android fan, you'll love it. Its is much faster than what is included in my Sony TV. It does support games, and does pair with my PS4 controller. The Shield does NOT support AirPlay with Apple devices, only Chromecast works. All other normal streaming services are available through the Play store. Disney+ supports Atmos through my soundbar which is cool. Think before you buy. If you just need a basic streaming device a Roku works just as well for much less money.
