Im not familiar with the appletv but I do know the shield pro is a phenomenal source!

One of the only few devices that can bit stream the lossless audio formats (TrueHD, Atmos, DTS-MA, DTS-X, etc.). Also can do HDR10 and Dolby Vision. Win/win.
