Does not play as nice with my other electronics (TV, soundbar) as the 4k fire stick. Even though I turn off CEC on both the Shield and TV its as if CEC is still present somewhere on the Shield. Also, sometimes plays audio in PCM rather than Dolby. No way to manually change it even when changing the settings. I wanted to love this but it is driving me crazy right now.

I honestly wish I could go back in time and refund this device. It's given me nothing but back-to-back issues ever since I purchased it. I was recommended this by a friend who loves everything Nvidia makes and I thought sure, why not? Terrible choice. The problems started with the Wi-Fi connectivity consistently dropping, even in mid-stream. We would be watching a show or film and the network would disconnect. I knew it wasn't a symptom of my router or my internet because everything else worked just fine and the problem was isolated only to this device. A firmware update did not fix this problem and it would have intermittent moments where the Wi-Fi would have to be reconnected. The real problem was when the applications stopped working entirely. I couldn't watch Hulu or Netflix without some error code. It wasn't the streaming services (it worked everywhere else), it was the device. I threw the troubleshooting manual at it, restarted the apps, power cycled the device, cleared the data and cache, and went as far as factory resetting the entire device. Nothing. Nvidia's customer support doesn't do much to help either. They'll send you through the song-and-dance of the same troubleshooting steps that's on their website before continuously escalating it up their tier system. You're going to waste a lot of time trying to figure this thing out when you run into issues. All-in-all, I will say that I've heard positive stories about it from other people who use it for much more than streaming, but I can't in good faith recommend this after the absolutely terrible experience I've had with it. I'd stay far away.

Nice concept but unless you are used to Android TV I would stick with ROkU 4K devices.

Constantly reboots on my Sony's TV's. I have reinstalled the OS multiple times, still no reboots after waking up from sleep mode. Decided to get a Apple TV, problem solved.

Meh, it’s alright. Took us five days and multiple troubleshooting sessions to finally get plex working on this brick. Now everytime i power it down I cross my fingers and hope it recognizes the drive when I turn it on again. We shall see

Previously had Firestick 4K on my Sony XBR65. Firestick properly controlled my TV and Soundbar, power and volume; but display was always buffering or crashing when using HULU. Per recommendation of Best Buy employee, I bought an NVIDIA Shield 3-weeks ago. At first, the picture clarity was amazing, no buffering! But the Shield would not control my TV or Soundbar power. Having to use 3 remotes was annoying, I complained to NVIDIA, they said it might be fixed with an upcoming software update. Two weeks later, sometimes Shield controls the TV power, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes Shield turns the TV on, but not off; and vice versa. Shield controls the Soundbar volume, but not it's Power. So I still need 3 remotes, but now I have to watch and wait to see what Shield does before pressing anything, extremely annoying. A few nights ago, I turned everything off, left the room, and Shield turned itself and the TV back on. I waited, saw no updates or messages, turned everything off again. Within 3-minutes, Shield turned itself and the TV back on again. Is this thing possessed! This process repeated 4 more times before I unplugged all the power cables for the night. I plugged it back in the next day, and now HULU will not play any video. I have researched numerous online articles and forums and tried all their suggestions to fix the HULU error, nothing works. I give up. Either NVIDIA can accept this as a defective product return, or it goes in the trash. Waste of money and time!

The menu’s and remote control functions are limited. It needs more instructions with illustrations as to which connections are best and why.

DO NOT BUY!!!! Trust me, do your research, Google has downgraded this device and forced very annoying ads to take over the screen as if this is a low cost budget streaming device. If you want a high end premium streaming device Apple TV is the only option left. I own both devices and the Apple is flawless compared to nvidia. All streaming apps are better executed on the Apple as well.

It did everything as advertised. Ended up returning it. Other than games, the performance was about the same as my $25 firestick. I couldn't justify the price.
