I am not an avid hard core gamer but I play for fun. Nvidia Shield has a wide variety of compatible android apk's and it has enough power and ram to support subscribed media providers HD streaming. AI capable Upscaling to 4K if you have the internet bandwidth for it. It also runs a PLEX Media server at my house backed by a movie filled WD MycloudEx2Ultra NAS.

I have tried all gens of Nvidia and they rock. AI is awesome, it makes a lot of difference on 75" inches TV. I own both pro and the base model. I would recommend buying Pro model, it comes with USB A port, you could connect external storage devices and also we cams. Google duo will be made available on Android TV shortly. If you are looking to buy one... PRO should be the one you should go for. Happy Customer

Perfect as always, but .......

They are the best video player on the market. They support a variety of formats. One thing to remember, and why I returned mine, is that they do not work well with Yamaha receivers. If you have a Yamaha surround sound system save yourself the hassle and headache of trying to connect this and look at an Apple TV.
