If you want the top of the line. Get this. It really performs well. It is worth the upgrade. Controls are a lot better than on the past modes. For sure, get this if you have dolby atmos.

I bought this to replace another popular streaming device that died. I don't know why this doesn't get better reviews, this streamer totally rocks! The remote lights up as soon as you pick it up. Button layout is okay but I no longer accidently launch apps in the middle of watching a show because I accidently pressed a raised button on the remote. You can actually turn this device on and off and the TV will turn on and off with it. Set up the IR and you will control the TV volume too! The app interface is from Google Play so just search out the apps you want rather than endless scrolling. Boom, done! AI interface is cool and it's a great media server!

This product as well worth the money having everything in one area and the picture quality even upscales to 4K. Very impressed with this equipment and the fact that you can play games. The only downfall I would say is trying to Chromecast or mirror your screen it is very difficult to set up and the app cost money on your phone. When you mirror cast it doesn't cast The sound. But I didn't buy this product for that feature I bought it for having all of the apps and the quality and the fact that you can hook an external hard drive for more storage for games you can even download emulators and play PSP games and things like that.

Works great using Plex 4K HDR content. Supports Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. I was not able to get other devices such as Apple TV to work with Dolby Atmos and Vision correctly.

I have every streaming device. But this is my go to device for everything that isnt 4k. Its able to upscale 60hz content that is on the live streaamimg channel. The 2019 tube the cannot do this. Plus i was tired of the tube gui lagging. Shield cannot do vc-1 or vp9. Only roku, Google tv and fire tv 4k can decode vc-1. Apple tv cannot. Apple tv hands down best gui. The Ai nvidia upscaling is really that good to warrant a 5 year old device still being relevant.

    A niche device

I’ll keep it short; this is a niche device and has a specific use. Two scenarios; First use case; If you are going to use it ONLY for streaming services such as Netflix, Max, Disney, Hulu, Amazon, etc, then I would NOT recommend this device. The latest ATV is miles better both in picture quality and app stability. Nvidia Shield does not even support auto frame rate matching on these apps. This means you will see judder on any 24p content, if your TV doesn’t process it automatically (most 120hz TVs takes care of it). Also it doesn’t support AV1 format, which means you get no HDR on YouTube. Second use case; You want to go down the rabbit hole. Install Stremio with RD and you’ve got a dream machine. Beats any device in existence for this use case and it supports any lossless audio format with Dolby Vision and HDR10. Also don’t forget to get smarttube ;)

The latest model of Nvidia's Shield Pro is more than a few years old at the time of this review, but the interface is as snappy, if not snappier than your TVs UI. I was having trouble running a smooth Plex server on my gaming PC, but transferring it to this bad boy cleared up any stuttering I was experiencing, even with simultaneous streams.

The Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 is a rock solid purchase for those individuals who are serious about cutting the cable. There's tons of streaming devices out there but this stands has the "holy grail" of streams for a number of different reasons, but the biggest reason is the Tegra X1+ processor which is 25% more powerful than their previous version. This along with 3gb of RAM and the 16gb hard drive make for a buffer free streaming and gaming experience. Two 3.0 USB ports make it easy to add external hard drives for recording, videos, games, and added storage.

My wife and I have been die hard Apple cult members for a long time. We like the idea of keeping everything on the same ecosystem. It just works good when everything is made by the same manufacturer. After about a year of my business partner telling me I need to switch from Apple TV’s to Nvidia Shields I gave in and bought one. Over the past two years they’ve become our go to. I’ve bought 4 for myself and even have my parents on them now too. We love being able access apps like Kodi on a streaming box that actually outperforms an Apple TV.

If you're looking at this, then you probably already know what it is. But just in case you don't, this is the Gold Standard of streaming boxes, as NVIDIA Shield has been for the last 5 years or so. The new remote is incredible and very easy to use. You can even use this thing to play games on the cloud with Geforce NOW, or locally using games from the App Store. Heck, you can even connect an N64 controller to this bad boy and play some retro emulators! You could even set this thing up with external storage and host your own Plex server. This thing does it all! I literally have one on every TV in my house now...

If you have a high speed internet connection and like to game as well as stream movies and shows, I recommend this. There is an extensive library of Steam and other PC game provider services available on it. You have to digitally own the game and have the GForce Now service, which is currently $5 per month. Check GForce Now to see what games are compatible. This machine is great, the user interface is very easy to use and it manages updates well. A big benefit is having all movie streaming services on one platform since Nvidia seems to be neutral territory and having them all work flawlessly. My PS4 hasn't gotten much attention since I bought this!

As an Android box, it's almost peerless. Great for videos, emulation, all forms of Android gaming. But it's high hook is Geforce Now, and that took a MASSIVE BLOW when more then half of the companies out there bailed on the initiative. Most of the games you probably already own on Steam are now no longer available, including DOOM, Diablo, and Call of Duty. There's still plenty left, it's not like you can't use the service, but it's far from a complete list of PC games. When it does work it's great, assuming you paid the $5 a month. Don't bother with the Free membership, I waited for over 5 HOURS to try a single game before I was forced to give up, having spent 1 solid hour at #2 in the cue. It's still a great box, and if you're not into the service, then it's flawless... accept for the high price and low availability. I give it a 4 out of 5, just because of the hassles that are involved with owning on.
