I have every version of the Shield and recently purchased the new pro for the man cave. The other versions did not support dolby atmos and after reading and watching several reviews I figured the Atmos would be the only real upgrade. Not only do I feel the reviews written are inaccurate they completely missed it. It may not make much difference on app's like Disney+, Amazon Prime, and others, but if you are a cable cutter and use any type of live streaming app's this is where this unit shines. I continue to be amazed and the difference the new up-scaling is from TV to TV. This is my 5th Shield and I will be upgrading at least one more unit very soon.

Excellent refresh but miss the controller

The refreshed CPU on the pro version is much more responsive and snappy than the previous 1st gen Shield. It is especially evident when comparing the snappines of the interface compared to a new 2019 smart tv. The AI upscale feature is legit and not just marketing smoke. So much so that they have enabled a demo mode at the tap of a button where you can see the A|B comparison on screen. The remote is excellent, a bit weird shaped, but comfortable to hold. Backlighting is a nice touch. Power button and physical button were much needed features that have finally made it. I'd recommend getting this remote if you have the older gen Shield as well. The absence of a game controller is questionable since Shield was always targeted as a gamer device more than an Android TV. So the exclusion from the price makes the overall price a bit steep. TLDR; no better Android TV console on the market. No better game stream device on the market.

Over 5 yrs old and still without a doubt the strongest home streaming, gaming and entertainment box on the market. 4k. Ai enhancement for lessor broadcast. Pair with a big external usb harddrive and the supplied plex server and watch all your content from any device.

I am not even close to using the full power & functionality of this device. I was blown away be the AI behind the up-scaling of 720P, 1080i and 1080P content. In addition, I am extremely happy with the quality of the audio codecs, especially dolby atmos (where the media provider has made that content available. I have not tried gaming yet, however as a web streamer it is awesome.

Best streamer, period. My Fire stick 4K does a good job but cannot compare to Nvidia Shield in terms of picture quality and speed. Not to mention it is a great gamer too.

I have had this for a few years now. It’s nice for watching tv and cloud gaming. The only issue is the lack of support and updates. It’s small, light weight and powerful.

This is without a doubt the best streaming device available. I know there are a lot of Roku Fanboys out there or just elderly people who don't know any better but with the click of a button you can end up side loading whatever it is you want to put on this device. I have three TVs and I have them on all three of them. There is no other streaming device I would ever buy.

Responsive and integrated well into our Home Theater setup with UST projector and receiver. AI upscaling is welcome on HD movies, which I expected, but it even enhances movies from the 80s and 90s that never received remastering treatments, even if the improvement isn't as consistent. The live A/B comparison feature is useful and helps zero-in on the right amount of processing. I was very concerned that oversharpening would be an issue, but the AI is very good at detecting what would create halos and gives great results, especially considering that it is done on the fly.

Love the shield. Runs Kodi much better and easier that my HTCP. My only complaint is remote should have an off button for the TV and the price is $50.00 too high.

This has become my primary streaming device! Everything comes in crisp and clear . One of the main reasons I purchased this was because I wanted to have the frame rate match the content . This device lets you know when your watching a 24hz video as well as 30 and 60 . I like my movies and shows to look the way they were intended to be viewed. It is super quick and literally as every app that’s currently available. I also use it for movies and videos that I have stored on my external hard drive . You can download VLC player and play it straight from the hard drive. I highly recommend this!!!

This streaming device is nearly perfect. The only issue I have with it is the remote will randomly unpair itself. This is easily fixed and just a minor complaint. The SHIELD is powerful and plays beautiful 4K movies and TV shows if your display allows it. Highly recommend.

I've owned the 2015 Shield TV for years. Recently purchased this newer 2019 Shield TV Pro for a second TV recently purchased. This is definitely the best Android streaming box. The AI upscaling works incredibly well. Making non-HD programs look excellent. I've tried many Android streaming boxes in the past, this is hands down the best. Has the best hardware and user interface. It costs more, but it's definitely worth it.
