The Shield is a very sophisticated set-top box. It is not intended for novices. If you are looking to stream just Netflix, this is not the box for you. Don’t get me wrong, Netflix works great on it, but for the price, $199, it may be a waste of money compared to their streaming media. Your choice, it is a great machine. If you want a media center for all your media, then I would highly recommend it.

I purchased this after reading several positive reviews. I would say overall I am exceedingly pleased. The most positive thing I can say is that the AI up scaling is amazing. If you don’t get carried away with it the picture from an HD source can look very much like a 4k image. The App Store is plentiful with streaming sources you can expect. My only negative is that after tweaking a few settings the shield had trouble recognizing being connected to an Ethernet source. A factory reset took care of the issue though.

I purchased this for the sole reason I Wanted to play Stardew valley with someone multiplayer while having full screen viewing on both devices. It does that beautifully, as well as many other things like Netflix Hulu Disney+, and other games can be streamed using the steam link app.

This is hands down the best streaming device available and has been since the OG Shield in 2015. You name it and this thing can do it. Download any andorid app sure...be a plex server...why not. Play 4k Dolby Vision movies....easy. The only other option for a streaming device would be the Apple TV 4K but as far as functionality this one is far above and beyond better.

Best Smart TV device ever! I had the original and upgraded. The original was great, moved it up to the bedroom. This one now dominates the Livingroom. I like smartTV Devices since they are easier to update and have more features than smart TVs themselves. I'd prefer to get a dumb TV that looks great and not pay extra for smart features I don't use. Regardless, the Shield TV is great, get one!

The Best Streaming Media Device on the Market

The Nvidia Shield TV 2019 is hands down the best Streaming Media Device currently on the market. I have several Roku Products and own several smart TVs, but none of them are as snappy and intuitive as the Nvidia Shield TV. The AI upscaling is a really useful feature for lower resolution content displayed on a 4K screen. You pay a premium for this device, but it is definitely worth it.

This is the holy grail of streaming media players. I've had and used 2 variations of the Xiaomi mi box and had no idea what I was missing. An Android TV experience without input lag and frequent was par for the course until I bought this. Powerful enough to run it's own Plex media server. Easy to setup, the entire world of streaming media at your fingertips.

I bought this mainly to serve as a Plex Server but it's become my absolute favorite streaming device on my home theater. Nvidia puts out constant updates and the apps are quick and responsive. Highly recommend to anyone - far better than any 'Smart' TV software out there.

Is very good at streaming just about any protocol. That’s what I got it for, for my video file library. It also has easy access to other streaming services and Chromecast. These were bonuses for me. However, I have difficulty with the displayed names of my video files, especially for TV. If it would just display my file names and sort by then, that’d be great. But it tries to be too clever, and about 30% of the time displays the wrong name. Frustrating, and why it doesn’t get a 5.

Will receive updates for years unlike many other Android TV devices. If you are running a PLEX server for your movies/tv shows, then this is a must purchase. It can transcode pretty much every video/audio format including Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

I have used many android boxes including firestick and the shields have always out performed the rest. This is my first pro and I haven't owned it long enough to say if or how much better it is than the standard shield but so far it has worked flawlessly. I use a high demand streaming service and anything sub par causes issues. I am and always will be a shield owner.

The Shield Pro is probably overkill for my needs because I'm not a gamer, but there are some excellent features I use. I think it's best suited to someone who takes home entertainment very seriously. I was prepared to run a ethernet cable to it, but the streaming is perfect with my WIFI, no buffering or delays. This was a pleasant surprise because I use the standard router from the cable company, definitely not high-end. I haven't figured out how to cast from my laptop/phone yet, but I know the capability exists. It's just not all that important to me. I'm still getting used to the shape of the remote, but the functionality is good. The remote power button also turns on/off my Insignia TV. It won't control my Vizio soundbar, but I think someone who is more interested in perfection could probably fix this. This is my first media streamer so I can't compare it to Roku, Apple, etc, I know it's far more expensive, but based on its capabilities and streaming quality, and reviews of other streaming devices, it's worth it.
