Got this to replace an awfully buggy Roku streaming stick that we replaced twice before discovering this. Fast switching between apps and navigation! I have an aging Vizio soundbar which paired up perfectly, eliminating the need for another remote. Powers up my older Samsung TV as well. Programmable buttons (app store download) is a nice bonus. Haven't played any games on it yet, but it synced up perfectly to an XBox One controller. Have moved between the Roku, Amazon FireTV Cube, and an Apple Mac Mini, and the Shield puts em all to shame. Definitely worth it!

Two reasons this doesn't get 5 stars from me. 1) Using the remote to control everything (Shield, television and Denon receiver) works most of the time, but not always. Sometimes we have to use the TV remote to power on the TV. 2) The dashboard sometimes has "blank" icons in place of the applications. I can hover oven them and select them, but the icon itself is just a gray box. We love that the Shield passes Dolby Atmos through the receiver and Dolby Vision to the TV.

If you need something just for netflix or streaming, get a cheap roku. If you need a device that plays everything you throw at it, get a shield pro. I tried everything else-- apple TV, roku, fire stick, etc. Always had issues with certain file types or audio which led to buffering when using plex for my media library. Internal app on my TV wouldn't support DTS or would crash and lag with certain movies. There was always something. If you have a media collection, including 4K remuxes, HDR, atmos, dolby true hd, Atmos, dts x, etc., the shield will play all audio and video types perfectly on Plex without buffering. It just works. The other option in this price point is the apple tv. It doesn't support lossless / full atmos. Get a shield. It just works.

Upgraded from 2015 model and happy I did

This is hands down the best device for my purposes as my main way of watching TV. YouTube, YouTube TV, Netflix and Plex (I have a separate device for Plex Server) are pretty much only thing I do. I had the 2015 Pro model and wasn't a fan of the remote volume slider doohickey. Since I finally made the move to a 4K TV it was also time to bump up my android tv box. Pros: • Easy to set up, powerful and smaller than the 2015 model. • Replaceable batteries instead of having to get the "low battery" alert. • Quality build... not some dinky piece of plastic if you don't need a micro sized solution. • 4K upscale is incredible. Cons: • They didn't completely solve the remote issue for me, that Netflix button is way sensitive. I'll find myself hitting the button when picking up the remote and it launches. Exiting Netflix is annoying... choose profile, go to menu, scroll to bottom, tab to the right. Grrr. • Price - its still a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. • 16GB internal HD. Absolutely need more space for app install, caches, etc. But it is very finicky about what you use, I opted for a 2.5" USB 3.1 enclosure with a 250GB SSD I had lying around. No warning about "drive too slow" and plenty of space. All in all a good purchase. It would been nice catch it on sale but I'm impatient and you won't save a much anyhow.

We have tried fire stick, fire cube, and Nvidia shield tv. They were all a waste of money. This has much better picture and sound quality, and a lot less buffering!!! It may cost more but well worth it.

Everybody always says... There isn't anything better for streaming. It does work very well for that. I don't know if it is anything different than a Firestick, but it is better. It is like a the difference between a basic car and a luxury car. They both get you where you are going, but it's the ride to the destination.

The device is fine but it needs a few updates. It's better than most streaming devices. The power cord needs to be type C, it needs a better CPU since android devices overtime degrade more then others. The remote has this issue where you press on the navigation ring you think you are pressing left, right down, or up. But if you are not careful it presses both say right and down. It really needs to be seperate buttons not a circle. The remote does need to be a bit bigger and a rectangle I am not really a fan of that remote shape.

This was my 2nd Shield TV. They are great streaming boxes with large storage and you add most all apps onto it. I did recently subscribe to DirecTV and their DirecTV Stream App is not available so I have to watch that through my smart TV.

The picture quality is better than with the Five TV Cube and it has wired networking for faster, more reliable speeds. I also like the fact they provide more regular updates and enhancements to improve performance/functionality. It is a little more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

I was a huge fan of the Gen2 FireTV boxes until a co-worker told me about the Shield. Man was he right! This thing blows the FireTV out of the water. Fast, sleek, the UI layout is perfect - highly recommended. Oh and the remote... ::drools:: Just buy it and thank me later...price should be $150 but it's still worth it at $199

The Nvidia Shield TV is a great streamer! It supports HDR10, Dolby Vision HDR, Dolby Atmos audio, DTS:X, and many other formats. Android TV has so many app options, you won't be asking for more! It has really cool game streaming. The remote is really nice, it is backlight which is rare among streaming boxes. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and recommend it!

I have enjoyed this android box for several weeks now. Netflix and Prime Video programming have never looked better. The AI feature plus Dolby Vision is first class. The Surround Sound choices, with Dolby Atmos being the most advance, is second to none. The Processor speed of the android box, dual usb ports and Plex Server capability are also a plus.

It's not cheap but probably the fastest android TV streaming device. Best part is that it upscales content to the highest resolution of your TV. Even on 1080p displays, content will be upscaled with AI. Not only that, it will upscale content to 4k even on 1080p displays too. You'll get the most out of this though if you have a 4k TV.

The Nvidia Shield Pro should have been exactly what I wanted for a streaming device. I was able to set it up after returning the first device that didn't work at all. I was able to get all my streaming apps, and the picture quality is very good. The main issues I have are; 1) I have to constantly restart the device because it locks up and/or apps just stop working for no reason and 2) the remote is the worst I have ever used. It is a triangle in shape and the Netflix button is a total pain! Every time you pick up the remote, your finger hits that button and changes from what you're watching to Netflix. The button is in a poor location and very sensitive.
