streaming comments
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Can be glitchy, but it does work. Be forewarned, HULU and it may be a problem. i lost HULU for some time because of some settings on the darn thing, and no one except Reddit could tell me why. Once i changed the settings, it worked again, only to fail about once every month or two, requiring me to reset those settings again. it has always worked well with Prime, Netflix, Apple+, Max, and Disney. it worked with Paramount+ until recently, when it dropped me and wont let sign in to my combined Uverse/Showtime/Paramount account. Since Showtime and Paramount just merged, i will wait to see if it resolves or if it is a Nvidea issue. When in doubt, reboot this thing as it cures some issues. overall, good though.

Solid Machine for Streaming
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used this to drive content on an early generation 4k Samsung TV. The android interface is intuitive and it has a quick processor to deliver gorgeous images. I watch all the usual streaming apps (Netflix, YouTube TV, Prime, Hulu, Disney+, etc.) and the Shield works like a champ.

Not an upgrade from the 2017 Shield
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Nvidia Shield Pro is a wonderful streaming device that can handle anything I throw at it. While I certainly enjoy it, the 2017 Nvidia shield does the same things that I need it to. There’s no noticeable difference in speed or features when using them. If you need a new streaming device, this is a great choice. If you want to “upgrade” from the Shield 2017, don’t do it. Keep what you have.

Speed
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will not mention what I was using before but it was top of the line in it's category and still experienced buffering. I decided to try NVIDIA because of it's reviews and I have to say, no more buffering. They don't throttle there machines like the other one. The refresh rate is awesome and the speed is well twice what I was getting.

Nvidia Shield streaming media players
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have several of these Nvidia Shield streaming media players. From 2015 , 500gb to the new ones with 16gb. I love them. I put one on each tv to stream all my apps. I have not used them for games yet but will try in the future. I have so many apps. With so much content I have little time to try out games yet, but want to in the near future.

Nvidia Shield IS the streaming box you want.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't rate 5 Stars very often, nothing is perfect. But this Nvidia Shield just works. Responds quickly with remote like a brand new computer does. So easy easy to add apps with your Google Email Log on. I use this with many apps, but mostly Kodi. I watch mostly anything I like for NO subscription costs with Kodi. I cannot imagine anything better.

The best 4K streamer
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is lightning fast. The only thing that I do not like is the remote; I love its ergonomics, but hate the Netflix button, as I find myself accidentally hitting up, thereby opening Netflix. Although, it is possible to remap this button with an app called Button Mapper by flar2.

Literally the best on the market.....
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own them all at one time or another, and hands down the NVIDIA shield. Is simply the very best android streamer around, if you have cable tv , you have to rent there cable box and the cost of owning is roughly. what it cost you for renting your cable box for a year, buy the bonus is at the end you own the NVIDIA shield and you still have to rent your cable box.......

So nice.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You can actually store video files on this device and play them with an app. Dead-nuts simple remote. Add storage with an external device, use apps for streaming. So nice.

huge improvement over non-Pro version
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the Nvidia Shield TV (the cylinder one) for almost a month, then returned it and bought the Pro. I don't play games or do any sideloading. I use it for streaming from Vudu, Netflix, Synology server, and Amazon Prime. That's it. It is also cabled to my router. With the AI turned on, the non-Pro version was dropping frames like crazy with the AI turned all the way up. It was also going to a black screen frequently when streaming, then after 10 seconds or so would resume (I'm assuming it was buffering). This was on 4K as well as bluray content. It also was very slow in booting up. I replaced it with the Pro and those problems are in the past. This starts up right away, no black screens when streaming, I have the AI set to max and no frame dropping either. I have played to older standard def movies and the AI makes them look like high def. I even stopped part way through the first one and watched a few minutes through my Roku Ultra to see the difference the AI makes. On the Roku it was soft and a bit fuzzy. Absolutely amazing how they have the AI working. This is a definite keeper. My only issue is with the Amazon app. It says I might need to upgrade the app, but even with the OS upgraded to current, the message will not go away. I have not been able to figure out how to upgrade the Amazon app individually either. But it has been playing the high def movies from Prime just fine.
