Performance is stellar---no lag anywhere. Purchased 2 of these and the remote. No regrets. I use this for Plex, youtube, chromecasting, and Netflix. Can't wait for CBS and Fox apps to come on board soon. Using this also with my Logitech harmony remotes----the Shield has an infrared port to allow this. Nvidia has done an awesome job on this device! I've tried apple tv, roku, chromecast, amazon fire, and minix neo x8. Shield blows them all away. I'm very critical of my home theater setup and cannot stand lag or freezing. So far, this shield has been stellar. I'm not a gamer, but this has me interested in games since it's so fast and low cost.

This is by far the best set-top box I've ever had. I purchased it because I was interested in streaming from my PC to my TV. My SHIELD replaced my FireTV, and because it's currently the most powerful set top box you can find, I am quite sure this will last me for a few years. I do have some problems with streaming from my PC at the moment, and I suspect it is because of my ancient, 5+ year old router (which will be replaced soon). Nvidia's GRID service, however, works flawlessly for me. The stock firmware was sort of buggy when I first booted it up, and I had multiple issues with my controller not wanting to be connected. About 20 minutes after initial start up I was prompted to install a software update, and the interface and controller was no longer buggy at all. If you're looking for a good set top box, this is the exact one to get. I really struggle to find anything bad with it, because it is literally that good.

I returned my Roku 4 and exchanged it with this item instead due to the loud fan in the Roku. After price matching using Nvidia's limited price of $149 I was able to pick this up at a very good price. Pros This item is very responsive and honestly compared to the Roku 4 i have not really noticed a difference in loading speeds. Where this thing shines is Nvidia gamestream and Geforce Now. If you have a GTX graphics card using gamestream you can stream your pc games directly to the shield. If you sign up for the beta software on your PC you can game in 4k 60fps instead of the standard 1080p. I use this feature pretty much everyday for games that I don't feel like sitting at my pc using a mouse and keyboard (i.e GTA v). I use the netgear r7000 as my router. Geforce Now is amazing as well. Very similar concept except you stream games from Nividia server. The first 3 months are free. The games stream smooth at 1080p, I had no issues with my 60MB's internet connection.The gamepad included with the shield is very comfortable and I don't have any gripes with it at the moment. The nvidia shield tv supports CEC, which will allow certain tv remotes to control the device through the HDMI connection. The 4k streaming is pretty much the same compared to the Roku 4. The roku 4 has a little more content but it does feel like the picture quality looks slightly better on the shield tv. Cons: Would like the option to include the regular remote instead of the gamepad. Nvidia is including the remote free on their website so hopeful they extend this out to it's retailers. Doesn't have Amazon video like Roku, could use more video content.

I had heard so many positive things about the shield before I purchased it, however my experience was not so. The remote would never pair, in order for me to control the device I had to leave the game controller tethered to the usb, they're both wireless controllers so I shouldn't have to do that.

Definitely glad with my purchase and I definitely recommend it.

I really enjoy the Nvidia shelid. Best investment yet.

I have tried this unit 3 times. Android tv is still way too buggy and one of the units the controller would not work. I will stick with Apple TV and Roku for streaming and steam box for games.

so much potential, but poor implementation. I wanted this streamer to be my MKV player, but the apps out there that are required to stream MKV with lossless audio are downright terrible.

After 15 months this high-end streaming devices controller stopped working one morning. no amount of troubleshooting with support will get it to work or reset. Since it was purchased 15 months ago the warranty is out so I am just out of luck. my 3-year-old Roku and apple tv devices do not have this issues with their remote so this was a lessoned learned. last nvidia device I purchase

Bought this player after checking lot of good reviews. but when i try to play many games game controller is not working. Kodi Working good, Sound quality is good. I found very very few free games with controller support, most of them we need to buy. Watched 3D movies using Kodi Really nice. if more games with controller support this will be really nice device.

It's a cool little media center but for a close price to an Xbox with half the capabilities, I just went for the Xbox instead.

I was disappointed because i could have the full google play store. All the apps i needee have to be obtained as an apk app.

I attached an external hard drive but had problems viewing the videos. I was unsure how to resolve and returned the item.

I love that I can practically watch any movie out there but I do find the nvidia a bit complicated to use.

It was a good purchase but I was not fully aware of these android boxes and what they are good for.
