A solid gaming tablet for non-gamers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Or at least non-gamers on tablets, which is me. Anyway... I was looking for a replacement tablet since Samsung was trying to charge me over $230 to fix a tablet I'd barely had for six months. During extensive research into various models and brands (Lenovo, Asus and the like), I stumbled upon this little beauty. It quickly became a finalist and I decided to read everything I possibly could about this tablet. It had pretty much everything I was looking for, which honestly? Wasn't much, but with most tablets now rolling out with lackluster screen resolutions and this one at least has a 1920 x 1200 resolution, which is certainly better than the 1024 x 768 and the 1280 x 800 versions most major brands are peddling now. Also the almost stock Android experience is a definite plus. Most tablets/phones/etc. are so bogged down by bloatware, it's ridiculous. But this tablet, other than a few gaming-centric additions is totally pure. So, now to the parts most people care about. Pros and cons! - No charger. I knew it didn't come with a charger and I know it was a cost-cutting move on Nvidia's part. Considering that most everyone has extra micro USB cables and power adapters lying around, it wasn't a huge deal to me, but I have to detract from my score for it. - Battery life. Honestly, this one goes either way. Do I need a tablet that I can leave on for days without charging? No. Now if you leave the settings in their default place, I can't imagine getting more than maybe five hours of use. If you're using this to play graphic-heavy games, then you're gonna want to leave the settings high. But if you're anything like me and just use tablets for web-browsing and maybe some "phone games", then you don't need it. I currently have the screen brightness set to about 30%, CPU cores down to 2 and the frame rate at 30-35 and I can generally get through a whole day of fairly heavy use. - Android Marshmallow 6.0. This one used to be a con because many people reported excessive battery drain and loss of WiFi connectivity, which is why I kept Lollipop on mine. But Nvidia started pushing a 1.1 patch update which apparently helped fix this issues. So I decided to take the plunge and install Marshmallow on my tablet today. Never lost wifi and I have yet to see anything unexpected in the battery window for what's draining it. I have yet to test the length of battery life when it comes to watching videos, but I'm hoping to get at least a few hours out of it. So to finish up, I would definitely recommend this tablet to others. It's a sleek, sexy little device and does exactly what Nvidia says it does.

Outstanding Android tablet for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own a few different Apple iPad tablets and wanted to try an Android tablet. I have tried to use a couple Samsung tablets in the past, but ended up returning them. For the price, I have to say this is a great Android tablet. It comes with very little bloatware and updates to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). While it doesn't come with a microUSB cable for charging and only 16GB of storage, I didn't really care. I have several microUSB cables lying around from other past devices, as well as a spare 64GB microSD card to expand my storage. While it was made with gamers in mind, it is more than capable of performing other tablet functions. I have been primarily using it for media consumption (YouTube, Netflix). I also bought the cover which attaches securely and holds the tablet at a nice viewing angle. Recommended.

6 Stars !
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would give this 6 stars if I could. As a person who does an obsessive amount of comparison shopping - this is a great deal. The tablet is fast, screen is very nice, runs my CAD software, WOT Blitz, Powerpoint, Maps.me without issue. I can now leave my laptop at home for presentations with the HDMI out. At this price I do not need to worry about my kids breaking it or it getting stolen when we go on trips. If you want: 1. Decent charging: You need an appropriate charger like Nvidia or Ipad. 2. Non-glare: IQ Shield is really good. A necessary addition if you do anything with this outside. Only negatives are: 1. They removed the pocket for the stylus (which I find useful) so you have to get a cover that accommodates it if you want it handy. 2. It does not have split screen capability like my Samsung Galaxy Note which would be very handy - software dependent.

Pretty bad
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would return this tablet if I could. Very sluggish, freezes constantly despite its "impressive" specs. After searching online for this specific issue I did discover it is a common one. Most of the solutions involved rooting then re-installing Android. Avoid this table and just buy a Nexus tablet.

Wonderful tablet with minor flaws
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the Shield Tablet K1! The Good: This tablet looks and feels great. Screen is gorgeous. Sounds is top notch for a tablet. Micro SD integration with Android 6.0 is a lifesaver. Tablet is fast enough to keep anyone happy. Streaming from PC to tablet? CHECK Tablet to Xbox? CHECK The controller really ties the room together. The list goes on.. CONS: Its not perfect unfortunately Screen can be unresponsive at times, fixed by reboots. It can get overwhelmed with intense gaming moments. Without the controller, its just a cool tablet. Overall, its simple. Just buy the thing! This tablet is bada$$. But you need the controller.

Had to return it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very excited to get this tablet however that didn't last long. After about 1 day the tablet became nearly unusable. It ran so slow that it would take minutes just to open an app. I had to return it. Clerk said a lot have been returned for the same reason and they were discontinuing it.

Speedy tablet with great features.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The screen is beautiful and clear. The tablet is very fast. The battery could last a bit longer, but if you set it to run on 2 cores at 50% it lasts decently enough. It's getting Marshmallow soon. I sold my iPad Air and got this tablet. I am happy with it.

Absolutely Horrible
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Maybe I received a lemon but the touchscreen is very sluggish and unresponsive. Very difficult to play games on. Watching Netflix, the unit will make a loud buzz for 20 seconds, freeze the picture and shut down. Has happened at least 6 times. Wanted to love this unit, but honestly it is the worst tablet I've ever owned. Bought it to use on my remote for drone flying. Not going to happen. Even worse, I bought 2 and the sealed one is gathering dust.

K1 junk- built & software issues
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all tablet feels real cheap and built is poorly. No stable WiFi keeps dropping all the time and a popping sound can be heard from inside tablet during use. Probably hardware issues incompatibility with board components. After further research with other users this is a known issue and nvidia has done nothing to correct this. They came with a new model K1 which still has issues how can they market juck. I did return this garbage or so called tablet.

Great tablet for my UAS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this particular tablet for the great processor and graphics to use with my Phantom 3 Professional. It has been a great tablet for this use as well as an every day tablet. Speedy processor, great graphics, front facing stereo speakers, etc. I would definitely recommend this tablet for gaming, everyday use, or your UAS.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Started great bought it in Feb. Quit charging in April . Very Disappointed, bought it for a dedicated phantom screen. Used it 4 times for about an hour each time. Took it out this weekend knowing i would have to charge it and nothing. After a little bit of research i found out this pad has been having this problem awhile. Bad mini usb. What to do?

Great Tablet As Expected.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tablet is a great buy for 200 dollars. Its great at handling any game and application. Nvidia also offers a good amount of games for $8 a month via streaming. The only thing that could be better would have to be the battery life.

Best Tablet around.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Shield K1 is plenty powerful for most games, the Screen is perfect in color. It came with Marshmallow 6.0 as the Operating System with almost no extra non-removable apps. Closest to stock android. I did have problems with the tracking of my taps on the screen, but there is a screen calibration option in the setting. Once that was done the issue was gone. No charger is included with the tablet, but all you really need is a Micro usb cable that comes with almost any smartphone and it'll charge just fine. Battery life seems to last about 8 hours with moderate use. Size is a bit bulky and the construction is plastic so I do recommend a case to protect it. Speakers are fantastic and gets plenty loud. All ports are to one side and there is a Micro HDMI output which is a great addition. A recommended purchase.

Excellent tablet. Charger not included.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this tablet 3 month ago and I have to say that for the price it exceeded all my expectations. The processor is very fast and the video card even faster. I use it for Internet, playing videos and gaming. Chrome goes very smooth and till the moment I didn’t find a game that make it lag. I have a 4K TV and I use it to play 4K videos. It’s much more practical than connecting a notebook. You need to have an NVidia controller or a Microsoft Xbox Wireless controller (and receiver with an OTG cable) to play 4K videos in the TV because the tablet only goes 4K in “Console mode” and it request a controller to do that. Otherwise it’s only 1080p resolution. I didn’t have warming issues as some people commented in other reviews and I live in a very hot city in Argentina (between 35º-50ºC in summer). The only negative thing I can think of is that it doesn’t bring a charger so you need to buy a separate one. That’s why I gave it 4 stars. Other bad thing, that it doesn’t have anything to do with the tablet, is that covers/cases sold everywhere designed for this tablet are very very bad or they are intended for the old version (that came with the stylus). I bought one on amazon and it’s really bad!
