It was okay returned it because I just did not care

The NVIDIA - SHIELD TV Gaming Edition is a good device,

The fastest available by fare but does freeze on occasion

I bought this item after reading reviews, including some that mentioned that there could be problems setting it up and getting it to connect. I decided that this system, with all the options was better than the other content distribution systems available so I went with it. I followed guides available for setup and did everything that I could to make it work but in the end I could not make this thing maintain a connection, and so I returned it and just bought an XBOXOne to provide access to games and other streaming content services like Netflix.

I got this to stream games, but ended up never doing so. The UI is awful. The startup menu doesn't show anything helpful or useful in terms of recommendations like others. Apps lag... And by apps I mean. Netflix and Amazon.

For what it is and does, i would really just recommend to skip buying this and get a firestick. Movie watching (including kodi) mediocre. Gaming sucks, leaving you no reason to pay $199 for this.

I purchased my Nvidia Shield in January 26 of 2018. It worked great until my screen started blacking out about 3 weeks ago. I contacted Nvidia Shield Support via chat on August 16, and after four hours of trouble shooting was told I would hear from their RMA Dept. I still haven't received an email. My Shield worked great when it was working. Because of the POOR Customer Support and NVIDIA not standing by their product-I would not recommend this to anyone.

I was excited to get this item but sadly it did not work for me. It would not work with either one of my Porsche hard drives (also bought from BB a few years ago). I returned after a long effort to get this product to work and doing lots of research online. Also, I am not new to electronics and tech equipment. I have dealt in this stuff for years (building my own computers, gaming etc)

Thanks for reading my review... Simple Answer: Yeah I recommend it, it is fast in every situation and it's so small and sleek that putting it in any room won't be a hassle. Big Answer: Even when you start with the unboxing the units screams premium. For the price I agree that it should but even someone like me who came from the original NVidia Shield console it's better. Inside your going to find the main remote and game controller and a charger for the controller and some pamphlets. One question I think some of you might ask is how do you charge the main remote. You don't, you replace the battery inside with watch type batteries. Do I like this...No but small price to pay plus it doesn't need replacement until after a year. Or at least that's what the company says. Plug and play type of experience and doing the updates you will naturally run into isn't too bad. One thing I wish came true was the Google Voice Assistant in this unit. Everything else though works quick and fast and the controller is much better for response. Simply put again, everything you throw at this unit has got your back and the fact that you can use a usb storage to increase the internal storage.... Yes internal storage! That makes this an easy win! You should buy this Nvidia Shield!

This unit would not send the proper sound data to my Samsung sound bar, nor my Samsung television. 4K HDR signal would not play

Not worth it. If you will use this for games skip it and just get an Xbox

This product is probably great for gaming. But if you are looking for movies and television shows. Don't bother. You wont get access to very many channels, and you almost have to purchase Google play . Save your money, buy a ROKU

I got this thinking it was like a better version of a Roku or Apple TV. So wrong! It wasn't able to have half the apps I wanted for streaming. I took it back and got a Roku.

Same as the old 2015 model, just much smaller. Took the 2015 model and installed it in my bedroom. Put this newer smaller one in the living room. Very fast little set top box. Easy to navigate with either remote or game pad. Can't recharge the remote anymore, has batteries built in. No HDMI cable included, make sure you pick one up if you need one. Out of all the set top boxes I have bought in the past, the Nvidia Shield TV is my favorite. I took my old Minix that was in the bedroom and tossed it in the garbage after it was replaced with a Nvidia. Shame the 2017 model was not beefed up a bit more. Still a great box! Get you one today!

Don't you hate when people say that this product is the best? Well I am not here to convince you since there is no best product...just what fits you best! For me this fits me best. It is also a beast of hardware compared to the other streamers out there. Nothing makes this unit flinch, quality is always top notch and crystal clear. The only CON on this unit is that I previously had the first gen unit and the remote that came with it had a headphone jack, while Gen 2 units have cheaper remotes with no headphone jack. Apparently the Pro units still come bundled with the better remote with headphone jack.

Performed really well but not worth the cost considering the longevity (or lack thereof).

I had high hopes for this thing. Was great at first and all of a sudden it just decided to die on me. Not even within 2 months

To many bugs and glitches, won't run some of the apps that are on it. Not worth it.

The NVIDIA Shield is a very powerful piece of hardware compared to the competition's products. If you have a fast enough internet connection you can easily stream HD video and games on this device. It is also running android TV so if you are invested in the android (Google) ecosystem then all of your account setup becomes that much easier. It is worth mentioning that if you try to stream games from your local PC it is recommended to use a wired connection. I was unable to do this do to my setup. Not that streaming via WiFi was terrible it was just not perfectly ideal. However, I was able to get around this issue by purchasing a fast (Gigabit) WiFi extender and use a wireless bridge to access my WiFi then connect the NVIDIA Shield to the WiFi extender via Ethernet cable. Now all matter of streaming is perfect. I would highly recommend to anyone who has streaming accounts as well as a home gaming PC with any modern NVIDIA GTX graphics card installed.
