Does not support all Android Apps
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Perhaps my expectations wasn't set correctly, but this device does not support all applications from the Google Play Store. You are limited to what apps are supported on this device. For example, my use case was for playing and streaming media content. Kodi, Netflix, etc works great. What is not supported is the Xfinity App for streaming live television and The CW for watching additional content from a specific network. Not 100% a cable cutting device. A full android device would support that additional Apps that I need.

We are sorry to hear that you are missing a favorite app. Just for your reference, only Google apps that are controller friendly and support a 10 Ft TV user interface are on Android TV. Google made the decision to not show touch only apps on Android TV because the experience would be poor on a TV. Developers do need to take the time to make changes to get their apps to support the noted Android TV requirements.
The good news is that SHIELD already has over three thousands of apps including the top 25 TV entertainment apps (according to a recent Ipsos study of US households) and continues to add even more apps every week. We look forward to supporting all of your favorite apps soon. SHIELD is also has Chromecast built-in, so apps like CW can be cast from your phone to SHIELD TV.

Owned for 8 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hooked it up, it recognized my 9 yr old tv just fine, setup was on screen w/remote or you can use phone app. Don't put app on your phone at first as it tries to tie in voice commands unless you already let Alexa run your house..lol I just finally set it up because I had knee replacement right after buying it and other distractions until now.
