Since my 2015 model nVidia Shield 16GB (remote included in bundle for $199) after the Android 7.0 update was having issues with the remote and controller pairing (I dont think i saw an update for the accessories), I returned it to get the 2017 Pro model and was highly disappointed of the extra $100 I paid for this. -The 2017 pro device has the same footprint of the 2015 device. It lookes like nVidia just repackaged the returned shields back in the box. My device didnt have the plastic on top of the shiny part of the device either like the 16GB had. -The pro 500GB model is definitely slower than the 2015 16GB model. I believe the pro model uses 5400RPM spin drive inside since I can hear it constantly compared to 2015 16GB which had flash storage -No upgraded remote like the 2017 16GB Models. This comes with the same old remote with the previous generation with rechargeable battery that only last a few days. -No HDMI cable included in the 2017 Model either -The controller feels cheap compared to old generation This is good for people buying their first Shield that need the IR Receiver. I believe that's the only advantage the Pro has over the 16GB model. -

I noticed that this device works kinda smooth.Only thing that is messed up is that Kodi's certain build delays it's graphics as displayed in Amazon fire tv experence.Any stream device should work the same.It can't be the software.It may be the harddirve or the update aren't good.Still a sad thing.Still was on the yes or no end.That is hard to pick.Since only works on half of the stuff displayed and listed.I should be getting my moneys worth.Nvidia if your helping others out too.you should know what to do when it comes to fix the delays on the kodi buiilds.The builds aren't working like the Amazon fire tv would.FIre tv works perfect with kodi.Glad i spoke this out.If you guys can fix my problem to make it work correctly.

Best TV box ever made to date. All of the other manufacturers are still fighting to catch up

I bought my new system 2 days ago, just bought grand theft auto 5 it would not download ,say not enough gigs, messaged NVIDA, the told me they have had some issues with some systems and there pso or something like that and if so i would have to wait for a update, not i think i will just return it. and it's a pain in the but to find games that ate free, thats what sounded good to me when i bought it.

Was worth it at the time but better options out there

While the Nvidia Shield offers a high quality user interface especially with the new Oreo update it is completely unable to support a Plex Media Server. The Shield will drop mounted NAS devices and will not be able to stream 1080p quality video content consistently without skipping or losing connection. This device is not capable at all to be a Plex Media Server despite what all the paid youtubers say about it. The Nvidia Shield TV stands up fine to other devices such as Roku and Fire TV which are all more or less equal, but is in no way capable of supporting a Plex Media Server, don't buy this for a Plex Media Server. And the product support provided by Nvidia is terrible.

I purchased the 500GB Pro and spent about 24 hours before I just said F*** it and returned it to the store. The video was not as great as I was expecting and for being an android app, you have to side load the apps cuz the google store doesn't have. I could have overlooked that if... GeForce Now would even work. My network was good, but it still shows lag and drop packets and bandwidth, etc. I spent time not only with my ISP, but with Nvidia with no resolved. I googled the issue and I am not the only one. What is the point of spending all this money if you can't stream properly. That is the whole point of this expensive waste of money. I returned as fast as possible because I couldn't even stand looking at the unit anymore.

This is the most expensive piece of junk I have ever seen. I bought this device to have the ultimate Kodi streaming device with the bonus of downloading games to play while not watching movies and tv shows but man is this thing sloooow. This thing makes the $40 Amazon Firestick look fast. I have used many Android boxes and Firesticks (gen 1 and 2) and all worked better than this paper weight. Loaded Kodi Krypton 17 and tried several different "builds" but it would just freeze up at times while using it. I spent over 4 hours trying to get things to work right but I finally gave up. This thing looks impressive and I wanted it to work so bad but with all my tech savvy and patience it was not to be. Hooked my $80 Yoka TV KB2 Pro box back up, which has as much RAM and twice the storage, and all is good in the world. Returning this waste of money tomorrow.

Upgraded from the 2015 16gb model, or so I thought. Received my new 2017 500gb model, to find out this is just the 2015 model and it had clear signs of use (no plastic on the top or anything). Even the date on the bottom says this device was manufactured in 2015. This is incredible deceptive and bad customer service from Nvidia. Wont be buying their product any time soon anymore.
