While there are free options available for word processing, spreadsheet, and Powerpoint type programs, nothing beats the compatibility and reliability of having these full Microsoft programs locally installed and always available offline at a low fixed price without having to pay an annual renewal fee.

I do not like the subscription license option. I want to own my software and not have to worry about having to have a monthly reoccurring charge. This was the way to go and easy to install, and so far, running well!
