Works as advertised. Bought this camera to take on a rafting trip and the waterproof functionality works great especially when my little cousin dropped the camera in the river.

The camera is a little pricey, but it takes great photos. And the screen flip feature is amazing for taking selfies.

    More robust than the TG-4

Bought this after toasting two TG-4 cameras. Their locking mechanism failed. The TG-870 has much more robust locking mechanism. Disappointed that have to step down in image quality but alas.

i had been researching a "tough" camera to take on a trip to south africa for safari's and cage diving w/ sharks. while i do have a go pro for this, i wanted to bring an actual camera as well. after reading countless reviews i oped to go w/ the tg-870 b/c it was more affordable then the olympus tg4 and had all of the features/options i needed.

    Good camera. Poor charging design.

I hate that Olympus decided to make their charging cord with a different end than ANY other devise made. Great camera, but if you misplace the cord, its useless.

We got this for our honeymoon and it works exactly as described. Its kind of annoying when the camera gets wet and you can't get the water bubbles off the lens and it gets in some pictures. But still awesome camera!

    Do Not Buy This Camera

I purchased this camera on June 16, 2016. On the first time using it in a water environment the lens fogged over and had water in it. I sent the camera back to Olympus following their procedures and at my expense only to receive an email stating I needed to pay them $109. to repair a warranted item. I then had to send in further documentation to verify I had purchased the camera when the product had been previously registered with them. Customer service is terrible. According to other reviews this is a common problem with this model camera. I wish I had paid closer attention. I assumed the issue had been corrected and thought they surely couldn't be selling a defective product, but they are. Maybe I'll get the camera back before my next cruise but not holding my breath.

    Horrible picture quality

Purchased this camera online for pick up at my local store which said the camera was in stock. It was not so I didn't get to pick it up until the day before we flew to Jamaica for a week long trip to include snorkeling so I didn't get a chance to play with it. Got to our resort went to the beach with this camera and discovered that it takes horrible grainy pictures. I put this camera safely in my backpack and didn't take it out again until I boxed it back up when I got home to return it. My old iPhone 6 took way better pictures but I can't compare underwater photos because I never even tried it. I didn't want to risk any damage preventing me from returning it. I was hoping to also take this camera on a planned trip to the Scottish Highlands next year, guess my quest continues. Please save your money and look elsewhere.

Camera failed and so does Olympus!

On a trip of a lifetime and the camera developed condensation inside of the lens and would not clear. Distorted photos and cloudy video. Very disappointing to begin with and then called Olympus with no satisfaction there either. Ended up taking a few shots with my cell phone, but it was too late to catch the days that had past.

Leaked 2nd time it was used in water

Do not buy this camera unless you buy the extra protection from Best Buy. It leaked the 2nd time I used it and Best Buy won't do anything about it. They referred me to Olympus instead of offering a replacement or refund. The camera is supposed to be waterproof to 50ft and I used it snorkeling in about 4 feet of water. The battery/card door were securely locked and after using it twice I opened it up to take the card out and it was wet.

This is my second Olympus tough camera... the first worked so good we purchased another one. We bought it for our cruise and on the first underwater adventure the camera filled up with water and stopped working! Won't be buying Olympus anymore!!

Thought it would be a fun point and shoot family vacation camera, WRONG! I will never buy another Olympus again. Picture quality sucked. Owned less than 2 months and flash stopped working. Could not get it replaced or money back.
