Customers are saying

Customers consistently note the excellent performance and quiet operation of the OMEN Obelisk Gaming Desktop. Many appreciate its attractive case design and the relatively affordable price, especially during sales. However, some users express concerns regarding the cooling system, GPU performance, and the adequacy of the power supply. The limited RAM is also a point of contention for some buyers.

I thought I got a good deal getting this open box, but I couldn’t get the machine to show the login screen without disabling the graphics card. Apparently there’s some known issues with versions of the RTX 2080 not working on Windows 10, I guess this was one of those cards. Pretty useless gaming machine without the graphics card so I’m taking it back.

This gaming tower was what I was hoping for. I got a great deal and was looking forward to using it. I purchased and had it shipped to my house at first. Plugged it in. Couldn't get passed set up. Went to geek squad and was told it was a video card error for this product. So hit or miss whether you will get a functional product.

If you do buy this, replace the fan. Otherwise the graphics card will overheat. Mine actually broke in two different ways. One because of a faulty Microsoft update and it seems like the graphics card overheated but I’m not sure.

Fantastic PC for the sale price

This PC has everything you can ever want. Right now I have an HP computer from a few years ago. It has an I7 5000 series processor, 32GB of RAM and a 980TI. So why not upgrade it if you are wondering? The RTX 2080 alone is about $800. So I figured I can sell my old PC to make up the difference with the price. Not to mention the other improvements like a CPU that's a few generations newer. I got this at the current black friday sale price. These days prebuilt vs building your own is nearly identical price wise. I have built computers in the past. But prebuilt these days is not a bad choice. If this was $500 higher at the MSRP price, I think I would of not bought it. $1500 is a sweet spot. This computer should be respectible for at least 3-4 more years. The RTX is nearly the same as an 1080TI. One of the drawbacks is only 16GB of RAM. But adding one is an easy task. And 16GB should be sufficent for most people. Another drawback is the 500 PSU. But HP has designers who decide what is sufficent. Also want to mention that the processor is not the overclock series. But then again, unless you are doing some crazy stuff, this CPU is more than sufficent for quite a few years. The CPU actually will age better than say a GPU. But if you want to upgrade the PSU or anything else down the road, HP made this computer very upgrade Friendly for the people who are afraid to get in the case. Case in point, solid at the black friday pricepoint. But anything more is not worth it.

Great value for a good build

Like many other reviews I picked up this on black friday and agree that for a RTX 2080 + the rest of the build it was a good value. The included keyboard and mouse really are as bad as others have said but a minor worry as I had 3 sets at home already. The power supply has me some what worried knowing BFV will take 395W to run, and Nvidia recommends a 650W supply for the RTX 2080. That said, Im more concerned about the air flow and idle/running temperature primarily of the GPU. Id recommend getting everything set up, update the driver and give it a good restart before opening a game. I didnt do that initially and saw temps go from 37c to 78c loading into overwatch. Updating the drivers has reduced this some but not a lot. Nvidia states the max running temp is 88c but id be uncomfortable playing for very long at that high of a temp. Really looking into it, the GPU appears to be a ZOTAC RTX 2080 which the un-overclockable single blower version of the RTX 2080. I saw one review mention it, but absolutely take the glass off and remove the clear sticker on the GEFORCE RTX label to avoid any issues down the road. see you on the battle field - owik

For a powerful pre-built gaming computer, this computer is one of the worst I have dealt with. Laggy and freezes up during any sort of gaming, no matter what type. Has been seen by multiple techs and no solution has been found. Would avoid this brand in general in the future.

3 long, 3 short beeps 5 times almost immediately after setting everything up upon boot up. Seems to be a well known issue as Best Buy didn't even confirm before exchanging first unit. Returning this one and will not buy HP again.

Computer kept crashing under normal use. Got an email from a hacker saying they had my passwords and it was the password I used to set up the computer. Returned this pc and bought Ibuypower directly from their website. Couldn’t be happier.

    Great while it lasted

This pc was amazing while it had lasted. (A day). So i get this mailed in super fast, 2 days within it notifying me it was shipped. Plug everything in and remove the RTX stickers or plastic before booting it up. And this thing starts up so fast compared to my last computer. Runs like a dream with some issues of it heating up (56-63°c) which definitely was worrying me because it was idle, when i was watching the degrees but called up hp's support team and they said that it's perfectly fine for that temp. Anyways install all my drivers and some games and it runs like a dream. Bo4 highest settings and it runs about 90fps to 130. So i see no issues, then the next day i want to play some bo4 and some other games too. While playing bo4 the screen blacks out, then turns grey, then black again and stays there for about 5 seconds. I figure oh probably some small issue. Then it happens again, now around 10 seconds. I thought maybe its my game so i exit out of bo4 to switch to LoL to test it. I start a game and within seconds the screen turns black again but for 30 seconds. So many times that this has happened to me. Finally called hp and end result was, sorry, your gpu is faulty. You gotta return it. I end up returning it and waiting for new one to be shipped.

After only a month my computer quit on me and now shows a blue screen. I boxed it back up and tossed it to the side. I'm pretty sure I wasted $1400 for this. Head the warnings, I was foolish not to.
