Customers consistently note the excellent performance and quiet operation of the OMEN Obelisk Gaming Desktop. Many appreciate its attractive case design and the relatively affordable price, especially during sales. However, some users express concerns regarding the cooling system, GPU performance, and the adequacy of the power supply. The limited RAM is also a point of contention for some buyers.

i got this on sale for $1650 and was a killer deal. the PC is smaller than other towers but it looks rather cool. This PC will play most games at a decent rate. only thing is this has a 500w power supply. i would reccomend upgrading it. I just ended up returning mine because with everything i have plugged in the PC couldnt handle gaming for me. if you run a light load and 1 monitor it will play fantastically for you. I have 3 27in dell gaming monitors and full Razer equipment, USB power hub and more. this PC doesnt allow for correct USB hub detection. it will detect what ever is plugged in but sees it as generic hardware vs directly plugged in to install actual software for the device you plugged in. I ended up returning this because the power supply or whatever else it was was just not strong enough for what i needed. every game ended in a d3d error or graphics fatal error. to play a game for 5 mins and have to reboot it was not enjoyable. IF you dont try to over power whats equipped then i would recommend this for you.

i was waiting for black frday to buy a new pc and when i saw this pc i just couldnt pass on it. i received my pc on nov 22. purchased through early access. and i gotta say this pc can run anything! battlefield V at 4k as for people that are mentioning a beep error and giving this pc a bad review, easy fix, just turn on your display before turning on your pc. itll beep when the display takes awhile to urn on and so the computer thinks its not connected to a display therefore it gives those beeps. so just make sure the display is on. as for me, my monitor is always on sleep mode so it really is no problem at all this is a great high end gaming computer for many years to come. the case is not as big as other gaming computers but you still have space to upgrade/replace pretty much evey thing in the future. Great Buy!

HP Omen Obelisk is a fully-upgradable pre-built PC

HP Omen's RTX 2080 rig is a steal at $500.00 off at $1499 The HP Omen Obelisk might look like just another pre-built gaming desktop, but it’s been designed from the ground up for PC builders. From support for multiple full-length graphics cards to standard Micro-ATX motherboards and power supplies, the HP Omen Obelisk is one of the most easily upgradable pre-built gaming PCs we’ve seen since the Lenovo Legion Y920 Tower. The Obelisk is one of HP’s most functional chassis designs yet, with extensive venting around all its sides. It also packs front-facing ports, magnetic dust covers and, of course, customizable RGB lighting for the front logo and optional tempered glass side panel. “Better yet, HP plans to let users” configure their system however they want with both Intel Coffee Lake and AMD Ryzen 2nd Generation CPU options. The electronics firm has also partnered up with Hyper X to provide its pre-built systems with up to 32GB of DDR4-2666MHz memory. Unfortunately, the Obelisk doesn’t feature any of HP’s usual hot swappable storage bays, but this PC includes room for two 3.5-inch drives (adaptable for 2.5-inch drives) and one m.2 storage devices. Lastly, you’ll find an Integrated mounting area for an 120mm fan or liquid-cooled radiator at the top of the case. Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 to its stack of configuration options, making it one of the first systems in the world to carry the Nvidia GeForce RTX 20 Series of GPUs.

I recently purchased this desktop and have been pleased overall so far. The games that I've benchmarked @4k (3840x2160) with their display setting turned all the way up seem to average 40-50 fps, but usually run higher throughout the game (no ray tracing yet). I'm unsure of who made the graphics card. It looks similar to an ASUS Turbo without the name branding on it. There were plastic coverings over the geforce rtx letters, on top and bottom of the card, that SHOULD BE REMOVED prior to powering the system up. Otherwise they will melt and you will need a replacement shortly. Overall, a great deal at this time with card prices remaining through the roof.

I purchased this desktop on Black Friday for $1500, and at that price it is definitely worth it. However, at the $2000 price point, you are probably better off building your own desktop with higher quality parts. Only downsides are that it came with one 16gb stick of ram, as opposed to two 8gb sticks (for dual channel performance), the cable management could be better (like in the sample photos), and better care could have been taken when sticking on the intel sticker on the front of the case.

I got this computer during 2018s Black Friday for $500 off and couldn't be happier. This was the cheapest gaming desktop on the market with an Nvidia RTX 2080 card. The computer has an Omen motherboard and PSU so I would assume it isn't cheaply made. So far I am playing a bunch of games on Ultra settings with no issues. I plan on updating the CPU cooling and adding more fans in the tower because it needs it.

I got this on Black Friday when it was $1500 instead of $2000. It’s a powerful computer but the temperature inside the case does get kinda hot, where at one point, it exited me out of a game where I believe I saw temperatures reach around 80 celsius, while I was playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider on max with 1440 resolution. Turning down some settings like Lara’s hair detail fixed the sudden crashes. I’d say the PC is great but there are other great alternatives for $2000.

Awesome Gaming PC with a Few Flaws

This PC can more or less handle any game you throw at it, producing at least 60 FPS at 4K resolution with all graphical settings maxed out, except sometimes with the anti-aliasing cranked up, which you will often find you don't want or need. A lot of games don't really improve that much with AA turned on, and more than a few actually look a bit worse. Still, if you like that kind of stuff it will still give you very playable framerates. I haven't run into any of the overheating problems I've seen people complaining about, and my PC is on all day every day, frequently rendering graphics. Maybe it's because mine sits on top of my desk behind my monitor, in the open air (plus my home is pretty chilly), rather than tucked away in some corner or nook. I have run into a couple of issues though. First off, it's kind of silly to put a 256 GB SSD in a modern rig. Mine reached 80% capacity after installing updated drivers, utility software, wand World of Warcraft (for the much-decreased load times). So I bought a 1 TB SSD and was disappointed to find HP only included one of the required two cables needed to install it. A call to their customer service resulted only in the offer of selling me the cable, which should have been there in the first place - every motherboard I've ever encountered already had extra cables for expansion in place. This, in my opinion, is inexcusable, and I probably won't be purchasing another HP PC in the future. The other issue is a bit more serious. Every now and then the screen will flash black for around half a second, then return to its state beforehand with strange difference of the mouse pointer being exactly centered. Worse yet, about 10-15% of the time this happens static briefly flashes on the screen, crackling and thumping sounds can be heard, and the computer locks up, requiring a hard power-down to reboot. This problem happens most often when visiting Netflix in Chrome. HP has been of no help in solving this issue, nor has nVidia. Oh well. Overall, these two issues don't bother me too too much, and despite a slightly high price tag, I still consider it a keeper.

It's been almost six years since I last replaced my desktop system. It is still fully functional and fast, but it was starting to show its’ age. I have been waiting for a decent sale price and like others I bought mine during the Black Friday sale $1499.99 + tax At this point I really hope I didn't just make a mistake with this one, because I'm really not impressed. The physical design leaves a lot of room for improvement (all flash and no actual thought to usage). Designed to sit on the floor under a desk makes the recessed USB ports on the top front nearly unusable. The overall space around the ports is just too cramped. I mean really have you tried putting a thumb drive into one of these slots. And don't get me started on the stupid Obelisk uhhh logo? What is it supposed to be, a butterfly, a raccoon, really what is this some kind of Rorschach test. Who on earth decided glass panels were an enhancement? Must have been some teenage gamer. They should at least have an optional ventilated side panel made of aluminum/steel. Ewww, Ahhh look at all the pretty lights. Are people really impressed by shiny glowing lights? They don't really do anything for me, and they certainly don't make your computer more powerful. Glass by its’ very nature is just fragile and blocks ventilation. Next... I knew this didn't have an optical drive going in to the purchase, but I still hate the Mfr's for deleting the capability to add one as an internal drive. I mean really Blu-ray isn't dead yet, and 4K and 3D Blu-Rays are really just getting started. I overcame this with an external enclosure for my optical drive. This is just another added expense for those of us who still use optical devices. It has a Toshiba drive installed in the NVMe slot for the OS. I am definitely disappointed with its’ performance. So... this was the first thing I replaced. I mean really this thing was no faster than my old SATA SSD drive. If you’re going to step up and use an NVMe drive you should have at least installed one that was faster than a standard SSD. I replaced with a Samsung 970 (2-3x as fast as the Toshiba)... just another expense. The system came preinstalled with Windows 10 Home Version 1803. When I decided to replace my OS drive I just did a clone of the Toshiba to my new Samsung. After awhile I realized that as supplied and configured by the OEM the Windows folder takes up a massive 26.9GB. That's JUST the Windows folder and absolutely nothing else, no programs, no data, JUST Windows. That's flat out insane. And… I also realized that as configured by the OEM, the Windows Backup fails to create a “System Image”. So.... I decided to just start over from scratch. I did a clean install of Windows 10Pro (latest version 1809) and as I write this I have also installed most of my programs. My Windows folder is now down to 17.2GB. So I have saved nearly 10GB of space and this doesn't even count the other space I have recovered deleting the useless HP bloatware or the windows crap I don't use. And now the Windows backup “System Image” works just fine. It has a 2TB hard drive by Seagate and you can add a second SATA III drive. You can also set it up for RAID if you want. Note: Personally I prefer Western Digital drives. It has two memory slots (1 occupied). Strangely, I see a lot of complaints online that it comes with a single 16GB stick and doesn't use two 8GB to enable dual channel mode. Personally I prefer it with the single 16GB and simply added a second 16 GB to enable dual channel mode. If it had two 8GB sticks I would have had to replace them both. The only question now is – could I replace these two 16Gb sticks with two 32GB sticks to max out at 64GB? Intel shows the i7-8700 max at 64GB but the HP specs don’t say if the memory slots will support 32GB sticks. Other than adding memory or a second hard drive this thing has ZERO expansion capability. In fact - the one extra PCI slot it does have - is completely blocked by the graphics card. Ahhh, the graphics card NVidia RTX 2080. Lots of complaints online, but as of yet I haven't had any system crashes, or beep codes like other reviewers. However.... I have had some random 1-3 second blackouts (while using one of the displayport connections). I can't definitively say this is due to the graphics card. I have switched from the display port to HDMI and the blackouts seem to have stopped. Could be the card, cable, or my new monitor (Viewsonic VP3268-4K). Other reviewers have also pointed out NVidia's "Minimal" 650watt power supply rating which HP apparently could care less about as they installed an underpowered 500watt supply. Uhhh, the latest graphics card with an underpowered supply. Hey HP - how cheap can you possibly be? In closing, I definitely can't recommend this particular system. It has Zero expandability, added costs, underpowered supply, questionable reliability, poor OEM configuration of software and in my opinion is all flash/no substance.

Overall this PC is really good, it has a good graphics card sporting a Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080, and it has a decent CPU. The only downside to it is the amount of airflow, it is very easy to get high temps and even possibly overheat. If you were to buy this you would want to get a better case with better airflow.

Ok, so I bought this system as a black friday deal. and with a RTX 2080 in it i was originally happy with my purchase. Everything loaded up fine, all games started. HOWEVER, once i started to play my more graphically demanding games i noticed some habitual crashing a few minutes into each game. The only way to stop this was by lowering my graphics to medium low (VERY upsetting given i just bought one of the highest end cards on market). Upon investigation the GPU was holding at about 82-84 C. which is pretty hot but considered safe by Nvidia standards. So my initial assumption is that the GPU was vastly under-cooled with its single fan system. Disappointing. Upon searching for a better cooler i look at how much power i have to play with and realize the whole system is running on a 500w power supply. Nvidia recommends minimum 650W for the RTX 2080. (confirmed by speaking to nvidia rep.) SO my next step in this debacle is to contact HP to find if i can upgrade the Power supply; only to be told that the only compatible power supply for the motherboard is the 500w that THEY manufacture for it. In other words; in order to get the capabilities out of the card that came with this build, is to replace the motherboard(and likely the case) the power supply, AND the GPU cooler. DO NOT BUY

I bought this PC on Black Friday because I thought it was a good deal for everything included. However, I noticed a lot of people talking about the power supply and cooling unit. When I play I do notice it runs a little hot, but how can I find exact compatible parts with this case if I want to upgrade. I am having trouble with this :/ Overall I stream and play Cod/FN with no problems and high FPS.

So I bought this system because I was walking through a closing store and found it deeply discounted. It was so low, you can't even purchase the components seperately for the price. I wanted the I9-9900KF. That should give you an idea of where I set my expectations for power and performance. Only 3-4 times have I actually put a load on the processor. I've been using it very hard and I have had zero issues with a triple beep, overheating, or anything the other reviews talk about. I paired it up to the Omen 240HZ refresh monitor. Totally overkill on the monitor, but it's beautiful. It only has 2 RAM slots, but the nice thing is this machine comes with 1x16 2666, so you do have and empty slot to upgrade. I did cut out about half of the junkware HP loads from factory. It was getting ridiculous. Oh and the fans are pretty quiet. Even under a heavy load, they're not that bad. Overall, it's a great machine. It's fast, quiet, easily upgradable, and a good value if you can get it at the right price.

I was hoping to get a good deal on a PC. Instead I got a hot box that caused the graphics card to burn up its memory chips. I then installed a CPU Water Cooler, and the performance never recovered. The NVME got too hot, and one of the two SATA ports on the motherboard died. HP has replaced the Graphics Card after two weeks but due to the very limited min-ATX motherboard and the lack of airflow in this case, I can't recommend this PC with these very hot components.

Great performance as a school system running 3 monitors but the graphics card lost ground once it heated up with multiple tabs open when powering two 1080P and one 4K monitor. The 4K monitor feed would get shaky and have color issues once it heated up in use. Appeared to run one 4K or up to 3 1080P monitors with no problem. Did not take care of the monitors I needed to run so had to return the unit. Dropped one star due to the monitor issue.

OK, I heard it is no longer available at store, but I know it was causing a lot of discussion last year when Bestbuy announced this black Friday deal, and some people were complaining about the mother board, the power and the 3 beep issue, and then they returned it, but after 1 year of use, I would still give 5 star to this desktop purchase. Considering these things 1. HP soon release a BIOS update to fix the beep issue, so I only had it once or twice 2. you can never get a 2080 with this price, if you can, show me the spec and final price 3. the power is not that bad as some of them thought, I am not a crazy game player, but I have tried it with PUBG, COD and some other large heavy games, it works good, the sound of the fan is acceptable and not noisy at all
